I agree with you 💯. I think one of the issues with this car market is that the buying demographic has changed since the pandemic. Meaning, it’s no longer only the enthusiast buying cars, you have some people looking to diversify their wealth with luxury items. There are buyers today who don’t really care about the car of the brand, they are looking at parking some cash in something they feel will appreciate over time. They only look at production numbers

I really don't get why the 2zz would be looked at as a bad thing in the Elise. It's a Toyota engine co-developed with friggin Yamaha. 8500rpm and more than 100hp per litre in stock NA form. That's more than enough for a car that weighs less than 2k lbs. I have much more confidence in a Toyota-yamaha engine being reliable than one specifically built by lotus. It also sounds pretty cool for a 4 cylinder too. Kinda like a sport bike. Same-ish story for the Camry engine in the Evora. It makes great power, sounds cool with a lotus exhaust and it's reliable. Both these cars had supercharged versions too...What's not to love? Just because Toyota is stamped on the side of the block doesn't mean it's slow and boring.

My friend in high school had a beautiful 1972 240Z. He'd replaced the standard 4 speed with a 5 speed from a a 280Z, and it had wider tires than stock, handled incredibly for its day. I knew the car very well and knew the work on it was quality, as it was his daily driver and I'd ridden in it a lot. He wanted to sell it and I wanted to buy at an extremely fair price but it was "too sporty" for someone my age, so said my mom and her bf. So instead they let me buy a 1967 Mustang with a 289 and 4 speed. Car was the same age as I was. What could go wrong in just 16 years (cars became old so fast back then)? I did not know what that car was the dark night I bought it, but I did become illuminated to the fact that it had no clutch, no brakes (drums all around) and the floor boards were rusted through. Shocker that happened in spite of the new undercoating, go figure! Lmao. And even when the brakes and clutch were replaced it was still a terrible chore to drive that could never be classified as fun. (I've driven or owned examples of every other generation through the 2005 other than the Mustang II, and I don't need to in order to know it's not any exception; no one can tell me that any generation of Mustang is a real car) In the ultimate irony, I sold that Mustang for $40 to the friend who wanted to sell me the Datsun just to get it out of my driveway when my mom moved. 40 years later and I still give my mom shlt about that.

Which is hilarious because Tyler is actually a few years older than Doug.

a really good chemistry between Doug and Tyler (like another 100 commentators mentioned before). They should make a video like this every three months, four in a year would be perfect. And I am still mad about Doug that his dogs name is Noodles, and not Dog deMuro.
