Hi Doug! love your reviews, I've owned one of these for a few months and need to correct some errors in your review and provide some additional facts\quirks you missed: The range is 448km\280miles - not your quoted 200 miles The digital speedo is available, you were just in sport mode which only has 2 gauges available. Normal and N mode have much more options available and both have digital speedometers. (there's even "classic" gauges too) You can also configure every setting in the N mode, when you hit the button twice it goes to N custom, so you can keep the much more sporty display, but still have traction control and soft suspension enabled There are 3 sound profiles for the simulated exhaust note. The other 2 are a bit more silly, but the jet one is fun as when you "change gear" at "high revs" it lets out sonic boom sounds out the back of the car. It's a really fun gimmick. Also on this, Hyundai have confirmed that more sounds will be coming via future updates, there hasn't been any updates since it's launch yet, but i suspect we will see it in the coming months The regen breaking offers a deceleration force of up to 0.6 G through regenerative braking alone, which is a leading figure in the industry The battery is 800volt which is also industry leading for its ability to withstand track driving with the battery preconditioning modes for track\drag The front seats are heated and ventilated as is the steering wheel The manual seats were intentional as the 5N already weighs in at 2.2 tonnes. I mean, who needs to adjust their seat anyway? (I've never understood this argument expect for large family cars) Lastly, you can control the car remotely via the Blulink app, check the 360 cameras, lock the doors, turn on climate control, etc Overall, I think this could’ve been a much longer video with a lot more details about how track focused this car is, and also with how many technical quirks combined with practicality rarely seen in this kind of package. I honestly feel this car is really pushing towards the future of fun and engaging driving is heading.

I've also owned one for a few months, welcome to the club! 🙃 I understand he can't include everything for brevity. Also 448km is WLTP, not EPA. And, what I just learned in this thread - the manual seats are so that you can sit lower in the car, which is awesome. It's almost as hard to get out as my lowered cr-z, which I see as a plus - as they said in the Hagerty vid, it's a full send car. (and you can also adjust the seats so high that my head almost hits the roof)
@ShufflerBluey6 ай бұрын
@@MilodeVries congratulations to you too then!, these things are the future for sure. Even with the EPA adjustment it should be about 250 Miles, not 200. In any case, good to know about the seat as well. I never really adjust my seat so I don't see what the big deal is. I just said it once then it's done forever 😅

Hyundai is the only company that integrates the LSD, motor, and reducer, and this is Hyundai's unique patent. Thanks to this, other companies have to use indirect cooling with coolant, but Hyundai can cool with oil, which allows it to manage heat much better than the Porsche Taycan or Tesla Model S Plaid and run longer on the track. If you drive a Tesla on a track, it will be faster in the beginning, but it will not be able to make a few turns and the power will be limited due to overheating. However, the Hyndai IONIQ 5N can run around the track all day with maximum power, and this is the best among all existing electric vehicles. The IONIQ 5N is the world's first mass-produced car to contain the drive shaft system used in the WRC. Of course, this is not a very advanced technology, but even BMW M and Mercedes AMG cannot use it because the production cost and unit cost are too high and the heat treatment, processing, and suspension assembly processes must all be changed to apply it to mass-produced cars. However, Hyundai applied this system even at the cost of giving up its own profits to improve the driving experience and reduce lap times. I thought Hyundai was a cheap car company that only pursued profits, but after seeing this, my impressions of Hyundai changed to a company of car enthusiasts who are crazy about the soul of motorsports. There is still a gap in technology, but their passion may make them more car enthusiasts than BMW M. I remember when Hyundai first entered the WRC. Almost every car fan in the world laughed at Hyundai. I also felt bad that a company like Hyundai dared to enter the WRC and thought that a company that made money by selling a lot of cheap cars would enter motorsports for marketing. But Hyundai won the WTCR over 20 times and won WRC twice in a row.

Out of all the sportscar brands out there, it's little hyundai that gave us what we want in EV; ICE simulation. EV Cayman replacement better be like this...
@volvo096 ай бұрын
Yeah I'm surprised it took an automaker so long to do this. Toyota? Patented EV manual transmission tech (simulating a clutch pedal, friction zone, and gear torque curves) it would be so cool if someone did that in an EV. Imagine when you are bored and want to have fun driving an EV with 3 pedals, and when you aren't in that kind of mood simply put it in "classic EV" mode and ignore the clutch and shifter! Someone has to do that, it's the next step up from what Hyundai did here!

However, when he said it's not as good handling as a Golf R, it shows me that he's not much of a driver around the track. This thing would leave an R in a heartbeat around a decent track, let alone in a straight line. Watch the many other videos, especially Misha on the Nurburgring, following one of the chief drivers / engineers for Hyandai and tell me different. Or Harris review. For reference channel with initial TH, their track here were the results Golf R - 114.48 Type R - 114.41 Tesla Plaid normal - 112.50 Ionic 5N - 112.44 About the only EV i would consider looking at once prices come down.

Manual seats are highly underrated IMO. I absolutely loathe having to wait for the seats in modern cars to mosey over to where I need them when I could have just pulled a bar and been there in ten seconds. I would much rather have comfortable cloth manual seats than the "luxurious" experience of sitting on ice cold leather waiting for my seat to arrive at it's destination so I can start driving. Just one more reason for me to bump this car to the top of my list of potential replacements for my current car when the time comes.
