I think that the German jets that your pilot friend shot down while they were taking off were Me 262's. Legendary Ace Chuck Yaeger was decorated with a Distinguished Flying Cross for shooting down an Me 262 in aerial combat.

Hello, Team Whittmann! The irony of this Australian law is too much. These objects, the government is banning the collecting and trade of, were war booty originally collected by the brave citizen soldiers who fought and defeated the 3rd Reich and assured the survival of nations like Australia. I can assure you that when those battle-hardened warriors carried home a flag, dagger, armband, or any number of other bits, their motivation had nothing to do with glorifying National Socialism, Hitler, or war crimes. These old objects, many of them actual works of art, are part of our collective historical memory and deserve to be preserved. While collecting, done with care, is a sound investment financially, we collectors understand that we are also investing in a future where young people appreciate the sacrifices and courage of the veterans (the first generation of collectors!) who brought home these objects. I apologize for my little rant, but I am incensed by the stupidity of the law in question. Thanks for the splendid video!

The weather outside is frightful but down in the cellar it is so delightful! I watch the gas furnace kick in and sort of pretend it is a fireplace. And - of course - it is a relaxing tumbler of "Old Barn Owl" bourbon ahahahahahahahaha. Are there any sales is in the offing? I grow weary of counting my money.

You two are the best , I absolutely enjoy your program so much , it really reminds me of my family who unfortunately have passed on. But that's life , anyway here's wishing you a happy new year & the jet fighter which you are referring to is an ME 262 , my Pop flew a P-51 in WW2 his plane had cameras only no .50 calibers, scary damn !!

I'm surprised I wasn't invited to take a ride on that boat. Seems that every time work was needed to be done, I was invited for ride on Slicks boats. 😄😄 Happy Birthday to John. I think the last time I saw John, he was about 15 years old. The last time I saw Ron, he was living in the development behind mine. Many years ago. Could that banner be from the Nazi party here in the US? Hence the Indiana stamp? "Cottonwood" is a tree. 1:08:44 Noticed the name Gustav Schindler when you were flipping through. 1:09:01 He was a well known violin bow maker. A good second quarter 20th century German violin bow by Gustav Schindler sold for $2550.

You can google the Indiana man's name (Robert Kalyvas) and he was a combat infantryman during WW II. He fought through Germany and was there at the end, so Sgt. Kalyvas obtained the flag himself. He passed away in 2003. Sad it couldn't stay in the family, but those things happen.

Another banger, Herr Wittmann bleeding for the cause, so as Obb pointed out the status of Australia is what it is and fortunately N. American's will gain in the hobby, that S.S. officers sword at the end was very nice and I see that Wittmann may be adding that to his collection, as he's now smoking cigar butt's off the floor...:) the hobby can be expensive folks, classic D.T.C. episode 109... is that right Obb ?

Always nice when a government makes a decision that goes against the people and their private property right? I'm always one of the first to say "It is what it is" however, I will not be saying that in the case of Australias new bill.

I met Clarence ‘Bud’ Anderson, a WWII P-51 triple ace who said that they could shoot the ME 262 jets down on tight inside turns. And as you stated, also on take off or landings where they were very vulnerable. Anderson is still alive at 100 years old! Check out his videos.

The government there seems to have gone rogue. Look at the crack down it did during the Covid pandemic. Ironically their crack down on German war souvenirs resembles Germany in the 1930s and would make Hitler envious.
