Bit of dark trivia, the little bird that got ripped apart at the beginning was based on Matt and Marisha's bird Daegon, which unfortunately passed away between filming the scene and the release of the episode. It made the scene a little sadder than they intended, but still funny.

"Snarf" was from Thundercats. Not sure if you saw the original, but the 2011 reboot was where Matt Mercer, who played Tygra, first worked with Will Friedle, who played Lion-O. Later Matt would invite Will to come play as Kashaw on Critical Role. Back in episode 5, Lady Kima mentioned that the elves of Syngorn had disappeared. Now here we find them. "Making My Way" - they would always sing Vanessa Carlton's "Thousand Miles" whenever someone would say "I make my way"... so they turned it into a song in the show. In the campaign, Craven Edge outright killed Grog and had to be brought back by Pike. They don't want death to be that cheap, so they used it to give Grog some character growth. Alas, the party split meant we didn't get the Last of Us reunion with Troy Baker (Joel/Syldor) and Ashley Johnson (Ellie/Pike)

Another great reaction :) The Fae Realm episodes are two of my favourites, just because of how MUCH they manage to cover, character-wise. Don't spend too much energy on Garmelie, honestly best to just file them away as Fae Realm weirdness. You know as much as you need to for now :) After this season is done, there are a bunch of "table to screen" comparison videos if you're interested in watching the comparisons, and getting an idea of the sheer volume of source material they were condensing into the 25 minute episodes. YES, the DnD movie is DEFINITELY worth watching! It's really good, and you don't need to be a DnD player to enjoy it. There are a bunch of extra Easter eggs scattered throughout that players can recognise, but none of them are necessary to understand the story or the characters (if it's relevant then it's explained in the film). It's also just a visually beautiful movie. A treat for the eyes. Vibrant, well shot, well lit, and everyone isn't wearing shades of "mud" and "swamp", which makes a nice change from some of the more "dark and gritty" fantasy worlds.

Fun Fact: The fey bird Keyleth called "little floof" was drawn to resemble Matt and Marisha's pet bird, Dagon. It so happened that that bird died, and they'd forgotten about the little floof's brutally violent death. So when Matt and Marisha watched the finished episode, they said they had to pause it for a few minutes to laugh and cry at the gag. 😁

6:01 -- This is another Easter egg. During the game, Keyleth/Marisha made some bad mistakes with her magic, making some of us shout at the screen, "Read your spells!!" 12:07 -- It was a scrying orb. Lets you tune in and eavesdrop on someone/thing you know. I like pointing out that Pop Pop was voiced by Henry "The Fonz" Winkler -- I keep wondering if you guys are too young to know who that is. You guys caught Cheech. Garmelie was voiced by Pippin from LotR (you may already know this, but last season Archie was voiced by Merry). If you guys want to get in on a D&D show, "Acquisitions, Incorporated" just rebooted their entire campaign. They're only on like the 4th episode (they keep 'em under 2 hours). Acq Inc was the first D&D podcast that was taken seriously. While there were other podcasts that contained D&D content before them, this was the show that really proved that people will watch/listen to people play D&D if they are entertaining enough. Their DMs are the main creative heads currently behind D&D -- Crawford makes DMing look effortless and Perkins is scary af. You and the Patreon crew most likely already know this, but the next two episodes are off the hook!

"I don`t think we can trust anybody but Vox Machina at this point" - hehe, i see, some characters definitely got their impressions on you? Speaking of untrustworthy characters and answering one of your questions: what Ripley gave to Umbrasyl is information. Not the orb itself, but the knowledge she got after spying on VM through the orb. 22:08 I think you can joke about Saundor being almost literally toxic, it`s his pain and desperation that turned a part of the forest into a bog. I love you fanboying/fangirling over Fenthras and Vex being cool! "She`s about to whoop so much ass!" :DDD You will love the next two so much, they are incredible.

Good catch on Cheech for Trinket's voice! Did you recognize Pop-Pop? He's quite famous too. And last voice, did you recognize Garmille's voice? Does it help if I point out that that actor is best friends with the voice actor that played Archie last season... And yeah, the D&D movie is definitely worth watching! If you're looking for more D&D related content, it's a little tougher to boil down, but the Critical Role Mini-Series "Calamity" is AMAZING!! It's this same world, but a thousand years before this story. It's only 4 episodes, but 4 to 6 hours each, so it adds up. But it's an amazing story.

@@byrdmanteddie Archie and Garmeille were voiced by Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd, aka Merry and Pippin from Lord of the Rings. Heres hoping we manage to get Sam and Frodo in later seasons to complete the set!

I think you will enjoy watch the Table to Screen moments, and i would love to see your reactions to it. Basically its a compilation of some clutch moments on season 1 (there's one for season 2 too) on TLOVM and how it really happened in the DnD table game. Maybe, when u finish season 2 u could react to both.

29:00 I think you're going to retain CR fans with your recent style already. I was hooked immediately. Critters are generally genX to millenials, and you might be surprised that it's not necessarily d&d that ties them. CR fans like it smart, dense, intense, funny, and heartfelt all at once, which is why this thing is such a masterpiece for us already. You're liable to have luck with stuff like Firefly or Battlestar Galactica reboot. Classic Anime works too. And the movies you've watched lately line up great, keep that up, love it, love you guys ❤, I subbed the day I found you. (The day you dropped Vox Machina) Edit: And this might be off base, but some of us consider the 70s as the true golden age of American cinema, I wonder how many here are with me on that?

Oh yeah, the D&D movie was a lot of fun. Nothing terribly out of the box, just exactly what you want from a fun fantasy adventure: fetch quests, tragic backstories and found family. Plus a healthy dose of references and easter eggs for people who know a lot about D&D, but you really don't need to know anything and they're not distracting at all.

8:40 he calls this glove thing he’s trying to use Diplomacy. It not working the first few times he tried it is representative of him rolling low. 9:49 Had Teddie laughing so hard lol 12:06 the ball Ripley had is what she used for “scrying” on VM. It’s a spell to see and hear a person they cast it on. It’s a way for her to spy on the group. 17:55 the increasing shock Teddie displays is hilarious. Great reaction. Really looking forward to the next video. It will have my favorite episode of the season. Ep 10. Btw, Teddie’s outfit was super fly. Loved the lines.

Regarding Grog's strength and the sorry state he was in after he broke Craven Edge, in D&D a characters stats can range from 1-20 with 10 being essentially average. At this point in the campaign Grog's strength was around 17-18 and after what Craven Edge did it was around a 2 making him as weak as a newborn. After Wilhand's "medicine" Grog was able to get back to around 4-5, able to stand but not much more.
