Hi! One tip from Lima Perú with the avocados, palta for us. When you open the avocado and is still in use, you put the seed in a small bowl with water till the top. You leave it in your kitchen all the time that the avocado is not finished. When the avocado is finished you can throw the seed and water. This is for the avocado not been black. Little tips from our grandmas through the years😉

Great video ma'am. That is exactly how I used to make guacamole years ago. You have inspired me to try it again. What a stupid creature of habit. I will definitely try the water trick thank you so much.

Madam, its oxidation.
@quelorepario4 жыл бұрын
@@akroia1986 yeah, the water layer prevents oxygen ever reaching the avocado, but because the avocado has a very high in fat content so it will be hydrophobic and it wouldn't "water down" the avocado/guacamole. The same protective layer could be done with oils, but it would be impossible to get rid of it effectively affecting the food, so the water is an elegant and simple solution.

Great recipe To make avocado easier to mash after removing seed cut into the flesh in a cross pattern then scoop it out. Leaving smaller cubes that a fork works through in no time Also you can just leave the seed in the avocado half you aren't using or put the seed into the guacamole this will prevent it going brown. Finally you can use grown cumin & black pepper for extra flavour plus spring onions instead of or with less of the onion.
@Downshiftology6 жыл бұрын
Great tip on slicing the avocado first before mashing! But unfortunately leaving the seed in the avocado is a bit of an old wives tale. It's been debunked by science that it does nothing to prevent it from going brown. Instead you need a way to prevent oxidization, which the water does (or plastic wrap on top, but I prefer the water). :)
@isaz5976 жыл бұрын
Downshiftology thanks for reply. Honestly I've used the seed in & without over night with the guacamole actually not turning brown. You could be right I have lid which comes my storage container. But definitely without a doubt the avocado half I'm not using if left with seed in doesn't spoil for at least 24 hours.
