The Savannah GA and Charleston SC share some of my best summer vacation memories traveling around with my parents as a kid. To this day, I can recall one of the stories about how Spanish moss came to be. It started years gone by, back during the Revolutionary War when a young, pretty red hair girl fell in love with one of the soldiers. They spent all their free time together along the oak tree lined bayous and rivers. The young solider was fascinated by her beautiful red hair, always running his fingers through it, while tell her how much he loved her and how they would spend the rest of their life together once the war was over and he returned home. Finally, the day came when he was shipped off to fight which left them both sadden by their separation. She promised him she would spend as much time as she could under their favorite old oak tree along the bayou awaiting his return. The days went by, the weeks went by and the months went by, but she held true to her promise by spending all her free time under their oak tree. Sadly, the months turned into years and she hadn't heard from her true love. As the years passed, her beautiful red hair slowly became grey. She now spent most of all her time under that oak tree reminiscing of her love and the time they spent together. She was growing old, but refusing to give up hope of his return as he promised he would do. Then, one day, the old grey haired lady laid down under their favorite old oak tree to take a nap, but she never awoke. The angels from heaven came down and took her grey old hair and draped it all over the old trees as a sign of her promise to wait for her true love. And to this day, if you happen to find a piece of the old grey Spanish moss and slightly scrape back the grey covering, you will be amazed by what you find. Hidden by the grey is a strand of her, young beautiful red hair! And that my friend is the story of how the trees became draped in the grey Spanish moss. Thanks for bring back those memories from my youth!

I identify with your approach to repairs...many years ago I did not have the money to act preemptively to take care of things and guess what, they would breakdown at the most inopportune times.... At least now with us everyday is Saturday so we most of the time choose not to travel at the times when the least amount of help, paid or otherwise is available.... I liked your goal to make things more simple for yourself this year. You have put a big commitment to put out the number of videos for us in the peanut gallery... I hope Sue enjoys her time back here in Wisconsin...Keep up the good work, we enjoy it very much...

We love Creek Fire. My first Army permanent duty station, Fort Stewart, is nearby in Hinesville. We have stayed at Creek Fire for a few nights at a time, as well as a one night stopover a few times. On the stopover nights we stayed on gravel sites, which were less expensive than the concrete pads. Savannah is a great, historic town. Each year on St. Patricks Day they dye the river green. They are huge Irish fans.

Oh the memories with this videos. Gail and I flew down to Georgia and rented a car. Our son just got out of Army school and we spent 5 days with him in Savannah. I used to be 6'4" and by the time we walked around the city and took tours I wound up to be 5'3" and am still that tall to this day. I told my son the economy was better in Georgia then in Oregon, all the homes had 6 or 7 cars parked in the front yard, some even had wheels on them. Oh the city has so much history and was so interesting. Thanks guys for this video. brought tears to my eyes. Oh yes I consider myself to be a peanutacholic and we tried boiled peanuts. Thanks so much for the tour so beautiful seeing the trees limbs covering the brick road. My son's in-laws live here and they have sent me so many pictures of their stay down their ( they live in Ohio) . Did you know that old ships during the civil war several Spanish ships were sunk their ? I have heard that after like high tides cause by nature will cause gold coins to be washed up shore in various places around their. Thinking the last person that found several coins their was in the upper hundreds of thousands of dollars. Let Mark know that I have an old Radio Shack metal detector that back then I gave $29.95 and it still works. So if Mark want it I will next day this one of a kind metal detector for just a couple thousand dollars. I can send with it a map show where you are now and where the gold will be as a package deal.
