Each have their own charm. Original Sin is a bit more traditional RPG in certain ways, less so in others, and definitely has less of a serious tone overall. They both have their merits. I do love the touch-ups and additional mechanics in DOS2. And the ability to play as undead and other races than human. And the addition of Source powers. But Original Sin had this cartoony fun feel to it that was just great, and it's what really got Larian started as a big name. Long story short... both are good in their own ways, DOS2 slightly beating it out in my opinion, but just by a hair and I could understand if you liked DOS better and would probably not argue.
@crusher19803 жыл бұрын
Yes, DOS:2 is too limiting with the armor system on how you can build your team and how to play. Also the round robin system instead of initiative giving you the first move is also one less choice you can make. Then the crazy mobility, everyone is jumping around the battlefield which means you really cant tank for your party, thats another limiting factor on how to play and build your party :x. DOS1 also seems to have many more and better fights than DOS2, of course this is probably all just personal preference but to me DOS1 is way superior to the sequel.

Telekinesis is actually extremely useful. I used it a lot on both games, especially DOS2. It's one of the only spells I use both in and out of combat regularly and the single most commonly used spell. I'll use it to teleport enemies to get fist attack with lots of damage and often killing them. Love using it on the Exploskeleton before they see me. If there's a large group of them, just pick one up with telekinesis and drop it in the middle of group. They all go boom immediately.
@gleep236 ай бұрын
I played DOS2, and I'm now trying DOS1EE for the first time. In DOS2 I used Telekinesis as a core part of my fight mechanics, and problem solving. I had multiple party members with high ability. I could use it to send explosives into the middle of the enemy, or move squishy toons out of danger, move a ranger to high ground, to get past blocked areas, move through crazy terrain, etc. I forget all the details from many years ago, but know I loved Telekinesis. It was the only reason I used mana potions outside of healer emergencies. Telekinesis was very powerful in DOS2, and I'm ignoring advice to skip it in DOS1, and I'm trying it on my first play through :)

Thanks for the vid/info. Apparently though, from what I've read elsewhere, DEX & STR don't affect damage dealt with their respective weapons....yet, conversely, increasing INT does increase spell damage (as well as lower cooldown periods). "Offence / Defence Rating" is, so I've read, the chance of hitting / being hit, and is not to do with the amount of damage dealt. Also, here's some v useful info re AP - "Max AP (on any given turn, I assume) = 7 + CON", "Starting AP = (PER + SPD) x 0.5", and "Turn AP = 3.5 + (SPD x 0.5)

Just keep it tasteful. 2.) You speak English very well, however sometimes your accent when combined with rapid speech makes things difficult to understand. 3.) Videos like this are sought out by people with burning churning questions, not bored kids just wanting to be amused. Maybe keep the informative videos a bit more informative and a bit less zany. Your advice #1 is confusing at best. There is no viable "pure mage" in this game. You want both of your main chars to have 1 skill point in all but one combat school. Obviously, give one of them a bow and don't take points into warfare and give the other one a melee weapon and don't take any ranger points. Every school has decent utility skills at early levels, stuff like heals, stuns, mobility spells, summons, invisibility, teleport etc. DO NOT, under any circumstance, create specialised party members when it comes to weapons vs magic, every char should have at least lvl 4 in Aero and Hydro, lvl 3 in other magic schools and either lvl 4 in man-at-arms and 3 in scoundrel or lvl 5 in ranger depending on the weapon type (bow or dual wield) by the end of the game. Here's some good advice you overlooked: a) Do not upgrade mage schools until well into he mid game because grenades and special arrows will be your main source of damage. Dip arrowheads into a poison barrel to poison arrowheads and dip empty bottles into an oil barrel to get molotov cocktails. You can find both of these barrels in the the starting town, I suggest you put them near a portal or into your pocket plane for easier use. The other materials are not infinite, but you will find more than enough for 100+ arrows and grenades before you have to engage any enemies. When you get some money, start buying rarer crafting ingredients, most importantly water essences for frost grenades. Take the two grenade perks, or at least the accuracy one, on both of your main chars. You can respec later. b) The only combat spells you will want to use early are summon spider, heal and midnight oil. Oil is great with fire grenades/arrows because it not only spreads the fire surfaces you created, but it generates smoke that completely screws with the ai and makes the enemies run around like idiots while you just throw more grenades at them. c) Doing quests in order will be a pain because the early fights can be nasty. To make the game much easier, go northeast as soon as you pick up the pyramid and use the invisibility spell to get past the enemies until you get to the chapter 2 map. You can do a bunch of fetch quests there that will give you a couple of levels because they are made for lvl 7+ chars, not lvl 2. If you really want to make your life easier, you can inviz all the way into the the Immaculate camp with the tenebrium handling book and finish that quest for a ton of xp. Without going too much into details, you can pick up a bunch of stones for free on this map (burn the totem in the goblin camp using midnight oil to avoid a fight), and you can also get to the chapter 3 map and do a bunch of fetch quests there, as well as steal a bunch of paintings and high level weapons for gold. d) If you really want to optimise your party, plan your path so you reach lvl 7 at the time you unlock the hall of heroes. At lvl 7, you can recruit a witch (Elessa) that has 5 points in witchcraft and 3 in geo amongst other things. That's the best companion in the game because she has around 7 more skill points than a char of her level should be. It wasn't fixed in EE so I assume it's intended? Anyway, her stats are skills are distributed well enough that she still ends up being as good as or better than a player char with that massive bonus. e) Jahan is the only decent voiced companion, having wasted only 3 attribute points and 1 perk. Do not make him your crafter, use him in your main group. The others are kinda terrible, with Bairdotr maybe being better than Madora, due to bows having less skill/stat requirements than melee weapons (you will probably have to use 2-handers with Madora instead of weapon/dagger dual, which is not optimal at all). The rogue is terrible, use him for crafting and such. If you don't mind having henchmen, there are reasonable options in the Hall of heroes depending on when you unlock it, but the sooner you do it, the more control you can have without your henchman being too much behind in levels. As a rule of thumb, any henchman who did not put attribute points into perception and constitution can be salvaged, unless he wasted a ton of skill points into stuff like lockpick and sneak. Don't worry if he is lower level than your party, it's much more important to have decent attributes on him. f) Make crafting/barter/lockpick/perception monkeys out of the companions you won't use. Just keep them in the pocket plane until you get a levelup, then use them to make a shopping/crafting run, or use them to solve some quests (you need 12?? perception to not want to kill yourself in the hot/cold quest). g) For weapons, dual wield and bows are leagues better than anything else. The most powerful character is one that uses a heavy one-hander (axe is best) and a dagger, because you can combine frenzy and daggers out yo one-shot any boss, but you will need both str and dex. Bows and dual daggers are easier on the attributes and skill points, so they are a better choice for companions because they have wasted points. Every char needs some int in order to use hail attack and chain lightning at lvl 15. Henchmen and companions should probably spec into bows, because those don't require a lot of attribute and skill points, while your main chars should dual. h) Stats that improve your skills (str, dex, int) are better than others. Con and per are completely useless, speed is great but you can stack a ton of it via items (dual daggers is +6 after lvl 13). You don't need to go overboard on AP-s because there are only so many skills you can use in a turn before everything is stunned or dead. Adrenaline is also a thing, use it. i) Crafted weapons are better than anything you can buy or find. Craft after every levelup, and craft a bunch of stuff because the bonuses may differ. Put the crappy axes/swords back in the furnace to get ingots back. Enchant weapons with tenebrium early on because it's the cheapest, in chapter 3 start using essences (wind is best, fire is the worst) because there are enemies that get healed by tenebrium damage. Crafting armor is the best way to make money. You can also craft belts and other accessories, and some of those can be very useful until you find good stuff in the shops. j) Finally, lets talk mid-late game skills. Mobility skills are king, as mentioned in the video. Even bow chars want those skills, so give them a set of daggers on the switch. Magic does less damage than weapons until lvl 15 and are worse at crowd control than grenades. However, magic schools give you a huge repertoire of support abilities, so every character should have access to adept level spells of every school. Power stance deserves a special mention because it's free damage. The downside is easily bypassed by using weapon-based abilities like crippling blow, eye gouge and special arrows that always hit. Have it constantly on. Note that special arrows can't crit, which is the main reasons why bows are better than xbows. Another important skill to mention is Drain willpower. This spell trivialises mid game boss fights because it allows you to reliably stun the boss and it doesn't allow a saving throw itself. Stun is the best cc status affected by willpower, making lightning attacks better than anything else, so just spam lightning arrows and shocking touch on bosses. Once you get master level abilities, things get crazy. Fights against multiple opponents can be solved in one turn with storm and/or chain lightning, hail of arrows and hail attack. Against single opponents that have a lot of health, use arrow spray (stand right next to them for best effect), hail attack, flurry and daggers drawn (which is actually an adept level skill for some reason). While most late game bosses are immune to stun, most can be frozen. In order to freeze them, first cast drain willpower, followed by soul sap (because it allows a willpower save). Finally, cast hail attack or use a couple of freezing arrows and finish him off with your melee attacks. Having the witch henchman works perfectly for this because she starts with 5 in witchcraft and due to points wasted in speed and perception, she moves before the rest of your party.

This is amazing tips and definitly helpfull... but i wont do it The thing i value most in rpgs are immersion and i like to immerse my self with pure magicians and a 2 handed tank charging into the fight. Everyone for their own, but you are right about that is the most optimal way to play.
@omgopet4 жыл бұрын
@@nekorisakirisame1323 Well, Madora starts with a bunch of points into 2-handed and opportunist iirc, so she would be your best choice for a "tank". You can use her if you want to play without mercenaries to get as many companion missons as possible. Honstly, the only difference between a 2-hander "tank" and a dw one is that with dw you can get daggers out (works with axe+dagger and hits with both weapons properly), which is an extra melee nuke, and you don't get the +3 spd stat bonus on the dagger (unfortunately, because crafted weapons give massive stat bonuses, 2 weapons is just better than a 2-hander). Make sure you give her all the mobility spells/skills you can to make use of Opportunist and so she can keep up. Don't try to "tank up" with her by wasting points into saving throws and constitution, she still won't be able to survive in the late game. Crowd control is the best form of tanking. I would suggest giving 4 Witchcraft to Jahan and giving him 2x daggers (and all of the initiative gear you find) so he moves first and can reduce saving throws to crowd control the nastiest enemy before you jump in. Don't get daggers out for role play purposes, but +6 speed is just too good to set up for the rest of your team, and staves/wands really don't do anything.

I think what is so frustrating is I've been playing this game since its start and still haven't gotten completely away from the general area of the first town. Once in a great while I go back and play and see how much further I can get. I have to say DOS is a real challenge.

x = 5 cm. I didn't even need to calculate that, because (3, 4, 5) is a Pythagorean triple. MATH! :D

Wonderful video. I stumbled upon it looking for advice after getting my ass handed to me. I just picked this game up and it's great! Concerning the video, might I suggest lowering the volume on your background music? It's just a bit too loud.

Yea, I realized that, thank you for your concern. ^^

Dude you were so funny to listen to. And instead of alt you can press l3 on the controller for either console.
