Ive noticed a bit difference in ability to gain muscle on different raw food diets. Way back when I did the 801010, I was lucky to hold onto my muscle mass. And I was much younger back then. Now doing Dr Brooke Goldners Goodbye Lupus protocol with lots of cruciferous and flaxseeds, my hair, nails are growing like mad and muscle gains are possible and recovery is MUCH faster. So Ill never avoid the seeds and eat mostly fruit again as I also dont want to lose bone and strength as I age. Many people have reversed osteopenia and osteoporosis on her raw to high raw protocols so she has positive results with her diet and those things are important to me. Flaxseed is also supposed to speed up cellular repair and healing and health is important to me, dogma not so much.

I love you guys, and I love your video. I have been taking protein powder/geen powder on my raw vegan diet since last October because my body was asking for more protein. And I love it. I underestimated protein completely lol. You both are true leaders sharing useful information that may not be popular in the raw vegan world, but because you both really want to help people you share anyway. Sending you both lots of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I haven’t gotten the book yet, but her husband, Thomas Tadlock has a book called Miracle Metabolism. It’s a book thats high raw and vegan and he was able to get more muscle gains this way than the traditional meat based bodybuilder diets. I think the key is that the diet is so anti inflammatory and speeds cellular healing that recovery is faster so he could also work out harder. But you need to work out to gain muscle.

This was so refreshing & educational to watch! I have also been thinking about protein a lot, as I don't agree with high fat diets even raw vegan but the nuts and seeds seem to be the only way to get the protein with high calories. Sprouting is great but I found out the other day that when sprouted they become a lot less in macros & higher in micronutrients. I also saw this comment on this girl saying 15grams of protein a day is enough & all she eats & I almost fell on the floor, I end up deleting all my comments as it was taken in extreme defensiveness as you both discussed the trigger for a lot of raw vegans and vegans. For me I'm more concerned about how my body will react as opposed to the label, knowing that it does adjust & get better is comforting. And I also got into resistant training & consistently last few months of last year & I haven't seen as much muscle growth as I'd like, I don't feel strong yet & that's my first & foremost reason for doing this. Another point I'd like to make is many raw vegan don't exercise especially resistant training or weight training, when I look at people who have been raw for so long they are very slim with no muscle definition, the woman have glutes that are barely visible & the men if they do have muscles in the biceps they are soft muscles and not defined, it's not about looks but it's a great indictor. There's a huge denial about body image & protein, eating enough does not always cover the 9 amino acids unless you are really on top of your shit. I believe raw vegan need to focus on macros & calories more than micros atm. Intuitive eating will not lead to health on this lifestyle as it's a guessing game. I love how open & inclusive this discussion was & I am grateful to witness & not feel so alone in my thoughts, as I always seem to be in the minority controversial when it comes to all topics lol, Health to me is a full spectrum. & strength & bones & protein I believe is one of the missing links besides leafy greens in this community. Much love to you both, sorry about the essay, I'm such super passionate about health lol

Thanks for the essay! Love it! So generous of you 🙏🏼 Totally agree. Raw vegans, for the most part, look malnourished, imo. If they don’t look malnourished, then their body fat to muscle ratio is high. Those are facts. They’re either no muscle/ flabby/high fat or thin and frail.

❤❤❤ Ive recently discovered TVP to get my protein requirement without the extra caleries from fat and carbs. I often add it to my fruit salads and peanut powder as well as typical savery dish. I also sprout my lentils and add them to sweet and savery salads. I usually get 75 to 150 gs of protein per day.

Yeah I keep calories under a certain level. So no, I won’t just be eating more calories just to get more protein. And I won’t be eating all day long either. I eat during a 4 hour window and that’s not going to change. I found that as an athlete, I needed to reincorporate things like tofu into my diet to get enough protein. But I don’t believe we need 1.6 or 1.8 grams per kg of lean body mass. That doesn’t make sense to me and sounds like a gross exaggeration. I typically get around 50-70g and I have no issues with muscularity or strength. I’m 56 So I’m not fully raw. Shrug. I’m high raw. I rarely cook (not even my tofu and tempeh!) and lean heavily toward my homegrown microgreens and sprouted lentils and soy beans for the other nutrients and fiber. This works well for my lifestyle. Most of all I listen to my body. There are days it’s just fruit. There are days it’s a smoothie a la Dr. Goldner. There are days it’s just microgreens and sprouted lentils. Some days it’s no food at all.

This was an very informative interview. I have been raw vegan high fruit vegan for 2 years now. I'm 59 years old and currently I feel really good. It is, however, great to hear the prospectives of mature women. Our bodies are indeed different from men. There are raw vegan men in the community, some gurus, that eat high fruit, but they are only taking in 1200 calories or less a day. I don't understand how that is possible except for the fact that they have more testosterone. I am getting over 2000 calories most days and there is no way I could drop that low of calories on raw vegan and thrive. I can take away certain points from men, but doing as they do wouldn't benefit me. If, at some point, I feel the need to do more protein, fats or some cooked foods, I will definitely go that route for health. I get between 50-60 grams of protein a day. Eva how much protein do you average a day if you had to guess?
@evathrives11 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t necessarily assume what you see from “gurus” is in fact, factual. Please take it all with a grain of salt. I aim to get plenty of protein now. Most days about 70-80 grams.

Have you listened to Dr. Gabrielle Lyon? She specializes in skeletal muscles & aging. She talks a lot about protein , she studied under and worked with some big wig in protein research (don’t recall his name but she brings it up often) . I listened to her on Dr. Gundry’s podcast (🙄yes he’s arrogant) this past week since they don’t see eye to eye on diet . She did say something about exclusively only eating plant protein that did concern me tbh .

You are what you eat. I have been doing plasma therapy for years, basically my water during the day. You definitely know how the food you eat effects your body, totally fruit based all day & a raw seed salad early evening, some hazelnut butter during the day; colour is perfect, no sediment & no smell. Even just adding a bit of hummus to my raw seed salad can alter the colour & smell, albeit slightly. Plasma therapy allows you to see what is working for you & what is not...every now & then I will have a vegan cooked treat, you definitely notice sediment/not clear colour & not smelling as nice; once a week you would not notice much of a change, but regular you definitely do 🤷♀️ You have the means inside you to check how you react to each food/spice etc & does not cost a thing 💃

Too much hype on protein. Are we to fall into the trap of meat and dairy industry? Who dictates the recommendation of RDA? Meat industry? Fyi the amount of protein in mother's milk is very low 1-2% and that is already sufficient for a fast growing baby! Mother's milk is the best food for babies!
@TheSweetestThing123 Жыл бұрын
I don’t interpret it as hype, but rather, an underestimation from the plant based community that could be rectified. The breast milk argument doesn’t hold water.
@evathrives Жыл бұрын
Yup.
@evathrives Жыл бұрын
Please don’t just regurgitate sound bites from people who literally have no clue what they’re talking about. Breast milk is actually pretty fatty and protein rich . There is foremilk and hindmilk when it comes to breast milk. The former is lighter and lower in fat but the latter is rich in fat and protein. Having said that, adults aren’t growing babies. So that argument is weak to say the least. Thank you for being here.
