I think, the shadow is about being totally conscious, I've had dream after dream, about levitation , The shadow is about rising above yourself and looking down on yourself. You and I.

This is incredibly well explained!! I like the part where you speak about the MBTI and the importance of knowing who you really according to your personality. Once I understood my type, I found ways to integrate my shadow. As an ENTP, this may be projected to others as a an act of emotional void or coldness, people will disagree with you or look you like a monster, but at the end of the day, you do not take part of any extreme or side, and learn all the possibilities life brings you.

I've just paused at 24:17 (about nouns and verbs) It caught my attention because I've recent started to internalise the idea of being a 'human doing'. It's not that I want to be this way all of the time, in fact I'd much prefer to be sat near a tree playing with my dog - but flicking that switch and thinking I'm now a 'human doing' helps me to push on a bit with tasks that I'm not much loving but need to be done

Yes! Understanding the persons astrological chart is very insightful. I always encourage my patients to explore their chart and what is currently happening in the present moment to work more profoundly with the parts of themselves and such that are being highlighted and presented as jewels potentially unfolding and deepening their understanding to the self to be more fully realized and become more whole.

I take exception that women especially take their emotions more seriously. Every mistake I ever made was because of emotion! Not thinking rationally!! I was introduced to the shadow when I read Robert Louis Stevenson's Jekyll and Hyde. Published 1886.

She hasn’t even touched on the collective shadow…. So relevant for today:.. we as a collective have enabled our own enslavement… the only way to change this is to become a sovereign individual with love and compassion… this is happening now with the awakening… but we need more to awaken for their to be a real change… people always want to wake other people up but you can’t… it happens to each of us personally… it starts by realizing there is a problem… then humbly ask the universe to open your eyes… usually the universe answers by putting a gigantic mirror in-front of you..once you understand it’s YOU who needs to change… it’s YoU who you are waiting for then you get it…

Hi Dr Hudson, I have found over my life I have disliked men who control and bully women. Recently a woman who has a VERY strong elating effect on my mood was being aloof. I became quite pushy and obnoxious. And I exhibited a desire to control that I find disturbing upon retrospect. Does this mean that I in shadow I am exactly that type of man that I disapprove of? And how can I become the kind of man I admire?
@drbren1234
@drbren1234 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Kenneth, I'm sorry for the long delay in my reply. Somehow this comment slipped by without me seeing it. You cannot exact change in duality by trying to be the opposite. This keeps you locked into the dynamic, swinging between the poles of an archetype. The only way to change is to transcend the archetype altogether. For instance, what transcends "bullying / not bullying" for you? Furthermore, I suggest you work on qualities of being. Sometimes, men can spend so much time doing things to impress a woman, that they forget that they are perfect as they are in their value system. I hope that gives you a few tips to help you out. Best regards, Dr Bren

I did enjoy the conversation and got some good information about the shadow. I don't completely agree with the comments about America being the most creative and christian country in the world. I think you could look at several European countries to find a lot more creative innovation than America as well as a longer and more entrenched Christian foundation. Look at the Romans...I think the more profound shadow is how Americans think they are the most innovative and Christian.

So is/how is the shadow different from the subconscious?
@drbren1234
@drbren1234 5 жыл бұрын
There are so many layers to the unconscious as Depth Psychologist see it. The subconscious is the top layer, closest to consciousness. The shadow is a term Jung used to refer to the personal unconscious. Jung coined the term the collective unconscious to refer to something akin to what many are calling the morphogenetic field these days. Lots of people use these terms interchangeably. I hope that helps.

So if I find a person who is behaving arrogantly, selfishly, or is self-centered and it deeply annoys me, that's my shadow? But how do you make the distinction between these behaviors that are from without and those from within i.e. my shadow?
@drbren1234
@drbren1234 5 жыл бұрын
Your shadow is about your trigger. The without is not exactly a mirror for you, but it activates an internal unconscious script that has you attached to form. When we untangle from this emotional form in our energetic matrix, we clear our karma and are no longer triggered by the without. Does that make sense?
@louiezigman6955
@louiezigman6955 3 жыл бұрын
the behaviors exist. How they bother you is a tell... People can and will act in ways that you might consider selfish, arrogant, ect... the fact that it bothers you is relative to the shadow... this concept is not a means of gaslighting yourself so that you become fragmented in your perception of what is true malevolence.... people will be all the things that bother you.... don't try to make the distinction between other people's behaviors and your own moral compass... the reality is that your moral compass is flawed too.... and what bothers you specifically regarding other people and their behaviors is the red needle that points to the direction of your own unconscious responses to external stimuli/information.

Hello Dr Bren, Thank you for the great explanation of the shadow and how to work it out, i need to ask you here what is the role that ( Synchronicity ) plays in Jungian Psychology ? as i know it works as indicators or as a signs. can you please tell me your opinion about it ? Thanks in Advance.
@drbren1234
@drbren1234 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mohammad, Thank you for your question. I believe it was Jung who made Synchronicity a popular psychological idea with his paper entitled "Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle" written in 1952. Jung's model of the psyche includes the higher dimensions of the Self. Meaning his model of psyche is not limited to the ego, brain and the 3D dualistic world. In fact, he was working with a prominent Quantum Physicists name Wolfgang Pauli to substantiate these higher dimensional ideas in quantum principles. Having said all that let me expound my opinion on Synchronicity and relate it back to the shadow. Jung spoke of two fundamentally different layers of the psyche: the personal and the collective. For the most part, your shadow is in your personal unconscious. Synchronicity is outside of your personal psyche. Synchronicity is simply an event that does not follow linear 3D time and space rules. However, for the experiencer of this event it has great meaning. It's the universe, the source energy, God, your higher self (whatever your call it) nudging you to follow the symbols of transformation for the evolution of the psyche. Sending you many blessings, Dr Bren

@Jillyg.529
@Jillyg.529 5 жыл бұрын
@@drbren1234 thank you so much. In regards to reverse speech therapy, the theory is that our brain constructs speech forward and backwards. Our forwards speech is our conscious mind speaking and the reverse is our unconscious mind speaking. About every 15 seconds of speech, one can find a word or sentence between the gibberish of the recording. I have found a few reversals relating to Jungian archetypes such as, "now we must dig the shadow" and "surface of the dark me within" when speaking forwards about how I would be able heal myself. I thought you might find it interesting as well but it was discovered by an Australian named David John Oates.

I absolutely love the profound wisdom Jung has brought to understanding the psyche. Thank you, for expounding upon the shadow, Dr. Hudson. I shutter and grapple often with my disdain for trump and then distance myself and ask is this monster/persona any part of my shadow? And if so i completely surrender to understand how to integrate and make that very insecure ego within myself, known to my awareness. this then is very humbling and then i am calm and then detached emotionally to trump and his atrocities and then, understand it is though my voice i can call out the t's barbaric attacks and speak to what i as a human can do to be present and acknowledge those under the attack of the trump cult, i.e. 'ripping screaming babies and children' from their parents and traumatizing them is barbaric and must be stopped. The insanity must be acknowledge without myself projecting that part of myself the 'grandiose ego'.
@drbren1234
@drbren1234 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is possible to use Trump to uncover and reveal personal shadow traits. But mostly, I believe Trump reflects America's Collective Shadow. And in so doing, the horror of caging children literally, reflects directly the metaphysical horrors of caging our inner child in order to conform to this society's soul crushing ways of being. Outrage is the appropriate response in both cases.
