Dr. Esselstyn saved my husband's life. It's been 10 years since my husband had 2 99% blocked arteries. Dr. Esselstyn called and counseled us and we put in his measures and my husband has been event free and medication free for ten years. We are featured on page 7 in Ann's recipe book. We got to meet Dr. Esselstyn in Des Moines about 8 years ago. What an amazing man!

Dr. Esselstyn called me in 2000. It was just a phone call but he spent about an hour talking to me and told me that if I went on the diet as he recommends, that I could reverse my heart disease. This was after my second heart attack took out the bottom 1/3 of my heart and my three cardiologist and cardiac surgeons told me I only had a couple months to live. At that time I didn’t even realize that my diet was causing my heart disease. Anyway, I’ve had 22 more years so far. Thank you for that call Sir. I also love watching the ladies cooking show and the open face lemon kale sandwich is one of my staples. Thanks not just to you but do your entire family. You’ve got something to really be proud of in your family.

Dr. Esselstyn seriously saved my life, and the life of my husband! I've told him personally in Sedona with tears in my eyes!! I know he hears it a lot, but I also feel in my heart that he appreciates it too! I'm 59 years old, I've lost 90 pounds and weigh 114. My husband is 62, lost 100 pounds and weighs 189. I've had serious heart issues, diverticulitis, acute problems with lupus, kidney stones, and a 315 total cholesterol. My husband had serious problems with high blood pressure and cholesterol. We are now living life fully, with no excessive doctor/hospital visits, and barely any meds. We are 11 years whole-food-plant-based-no-oil, and only wished that we would have done it sooner!! Try it if you're on the fence...you will thank me, I promise!!

As far as your question, I ate a normal meat and potatoes diet as a young man but was very active and lean. As I got older I got more involved with working and got away from exercise (due to time); then my diet got worse and I was exposed to richer foods with a lot of fat, cheese and dairy. It tasted great but was killing me on the inside. If I had known then what I know now who knows where I’d be? Thank you for asking. That was very kind of you. Fruit is not vital for nutrition but a little bit of whole fruit per day is ok. Each meal should have a high quality protein, starch and vegetables. She treated over 250,000 kids with a faultless track record and has 15 awards and honors to back up that claim which is more than all male youtube doctors put together combined, not to mention she started out as a scientist and helped invent the Pertussis vaccine and lived in good health to age 114. @@beepbeepnj2658 We do not know what Dr. Leila Denmark would say if she were here today and had a chance to read the scientific research that has come out since she practiced. I read Dr. Denmark's book, and she was a remarkable and caring physician and scientist. Dr. Esselstyn's son Rip is an elite athlete. He currently holds the world record in swimming the backstroke in his age group. He has won many athletic awards while following the whole food, plant-based, no oil lifestyle. Have you seen the documentary, Gamechangers? Many elite athletes, including Tom Brady and Novak Djocovic, are plant-based because their speed, endurance, strength and recovery times improve. Dr. Esselstyn grew up on a farm, eating meat and dairy. After learning about the latest research, he and his whole family switched because it iproved their health. It is quite possible that Dr. Denmark, although she lived and practiced a very long time, might have counseled her patients to follow this path. She primarily cared for infants, children and their parents. But today, even young children show signs of having heart disease and diabetes. Stay well, my friend. I wish you the best health and quality of life.

16:45 - Not understanding the smoothie explanation, a smoothie is just a blended fruit, it has all the fiber included, its concept is a 'well-chewed' fruit. Compared to a juiced apple, which is just the juice only. Did the Dr. mean the juice? not the smoothie?
@annemccarron22817 ай бұрын
No, Dr. Esselstyn meant smoothies. As he said, it sends a blast of sugar into your blood steam since there is no chewing, and it has a lot of fruit sugar. He has always advocated against smoothies. It can cause insulin resistance. Digestion begins in the mouth with chewing. Chewing also plays an important part in assimilation of nutrients into the blood stream slowly.
