After my 3rd heart stent, high triglycerides and cholesterol plus slowly increasing blood pressure I thought to give this a try. To my surprise in the course of 4 months I have dropped 50 pounds effortlessly, my LDL was 30! An astonishing number. My cholesterol is in the 90's now. My triglycerides are normalized as is my blood pressure. On my next visit to see my personal MD we will discuss removing me from my medications. This is my lifestyle now and thank you for the info you put out on this channel.

That’s great! But I’ve given up sugar except one spoon in my coffee, no sweets and mostly meat free and I even started exercising and I’ve lost a mere couple pounds in 2 months….what else did you do, did you cut calories too?
@kpf81863 жыл бұрын
@@beautymaven3952 since I wrote that I have dropped another 20 pounds and my doctor has taken me off all my medications. I'm medication free now. I really don't cut calories. If you follow this way of eating, the weight comes off by itself. When I want to cut back if I see my weight inching back up I will back off of bread and hummus. Otherwise it takes care of itself.
@beautymaven39523 жыл бұрын
@@kpf8186 wow, that is amazing. Good for you, your doctors must be quite impressed and shame on them for not offering this lifestyle to begin with. I do eat a slice or 2 of bread daily and half n half (tablespoon) in my coffee…but I guess it’s the meat (small portion once/twice weekly) that is the problem. It used to be 3-4x per week so I’ve cut back. Okay, I am going to stop completely, as that’s the only way it will work. Take care, thank you

Hi Ann and Jane, got your Plant Based Warrior Woman & the Engine2 cookbooks. Although I do realize why you had to open with all of the things that need to be eliminated and stopped and that we must say "No!" to in a WFPB (Whole-Food Plant-Based) diet, perhaps it'll be less harsh to the ears of the Beginner WFPB audience to just say that you'll be getting plant-based versions of all of those things you said "NO!" to. Otherwise, it sounds wayyyy too harsh and restrictive and just impossible to do. But in reality, it IS truly possible and there are very good substitutionary ways to cook WFPB recipes! Thanks for your wonderful show and cookbooks!! 📚

Himalayan salt and iodine salt are very healthy salts for thyroid issues and well-being. They don’t raise blood pressure. I check my blood pressure every day and my systolic pressure 104/diastolic 60. What does raise my blood pressure is caffeine and processed sugar items.

@ArturoMartinez-bh7ui Sodium is same no matter the source. Many people are sensitive to the BP spike when consuming (salt.. even “sea salt” and “Himalayan salt”). There is no “healthy” sodium salt. Eat plenty of Whole Foods and you get your requirement. Kudos if you aren’t adversely affected (but too many people consume way too much salt daily)

oooow. As I was watching the beet green snack I wanted to tell you that I love greens but - was NEVER a collard green fan. BUT I was getting them in my delivery of "Misfit Market" veggies and after I strip the leaves off the stems - I cut the stems about 5" long and boiled them, then just sautéed them dry and put them in a bowl and let them cool and I just snacked on them. SO DELICIOUS!!! Of course I ate the leaves also! Separately in my meal - sautéed with garlic, I got used to them actually...

@@helenmyers5161 I still get an every other week delivery of the small box. My sister & my daughter also subscribe for the bigger box. I can now pick my produce which I like. We've had mixed experiences. Mine is mostly positive. The price is good for organic. But sometimes you get some things that go bad before they get ripe (a pineapple- which I ordered as an extra). I don't get mushrooms from them because I tried twice and they were wet and mushy... But mostly I'm satisfied. At the beginning of the pandemic when it was hard to get out, or get food delivered it was a God-send and I think we're all afraid to cancel completely. Although I'd rather go out and pick my own veggies at the store. One thing I really liked was I got some things I wouldn't have normally tried, or that I needed to try again (like the collards). I also got jicama for the first time. I think it depends on where you live & where they source from. I'd give them a try. You can always cancel and you can skip whenever you want.
