I commented on the full episode, but something else came to mind.. regarding blood markers to predict health/longevity.. IGF-1, fasting insulin/glucose, CRP inflammation.. any thoughts on genetic testing (telomeres vs epigenetic)? Epigenetic drift seems to occur because of histone modification, and/or changes in dna methylation patterns.. yet all tests available today (Steve Horvath’s GrimAge / zymo myDNAge and Dr. Morgan Levine's DNAm PhenoAge), appear to only work with the latter.. measuring methylation patterns on genes associated with the circadian rhythm. Also, it seems different tissues age differently, for example small intestine seems to slow down with age, whereas the colon doesn't. Or what causes the Thymus to degrade with age? BTW, I've heard a high Triglycerides/HDL ratio, high-blood-pressure, weak grip strength, and low-lung-capacity, are all extremely predictive if you are headed towards death or longevity! According to Dave Mayo, foods high in apigenin (celery , chamomile) may help as they act as weak cd38 inhibitors!
