My husband at yrs of age committed his life to Jesus at an off-shoot rally inspired by the Billy Graham Crusade in WA in 1959. I became a 'born-again' Christian in Perth in1980 and for the last forty years we have had a marvelous adventure together with God. My husband went on to become a Preacher and we were Missionaries to Papua New Guinea. When we retired in 2020 God gave us a lovely modest home as a free gift. God always looks after his faithful children. His love for us is amazing and wonderful.

Great listen, thanks John. Would just add that not only is 'the pill' the cause for declining morality but also the abandoning of biblical Christianity by Christians. These days it mostly comes down to money to keep the show on the road, rather than upholding of gospel truth.

“But the FRUIT of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, GOODNESS, faithfulness,” Galatians 5:22. This is ONE fruit and it never grows on any other tree but the Tree of Life. “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, FOR APART FROM ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.” John 15:5. May those who have ears understand.

Contempt, hate, bile, vitriol and denigrating comments and insults is in almost all discussions whether it’s climate change, abortion, race whatever, is taught nowadays by the media by politicians etc. it’s sad that two or more people cannot sit and discuss a topic rationally and calmly but most people talk in slogans from sound and video bites and with little knowledge of a topic other than an emotional aspect which erupts in anger and frustration as they cannot express their view in any other way. They lack the cognizance and knowledge to verbalize coherently. With contempt and hatred comes the ability to see a person or group of people as less than human. At that point it’s a small step to incarceration and elimination. We ignore history at our own peril. Asheville Aussie 🐨

On the topic of Church and State it's important to point out that the Church of England was established to be a State Church and works best without a separation. While other denominations such as the Catholic Church and other Protestant churches were established underground and can work well with a separation.

Another great interview John, thanks to you and Peter both. I hate to think we are a this point, but with our failing standards in Australia, is it time that we who are Christians say we are Christians first and Australian second? We should promote that which give us all the greatest hope, charity, forgiveness and sense of community. A Christian umbrella that is open to all and totally inclusive. Perhaps it was a mistake of the past to put nationhood on a similar level to God.

1st. Love God who gave our privilege to even uttered words beloved? Is like what is the true meaning of utterance beloved. So you and me may know why is very, very, very, vital to 2nd love thy neighbors as thyself beloved! Breathing through our nostrils indeed. Given. Indeed can be kept. Is like why are we talking at all beloved? Remember it will be hard to show off to God without our neighbors beloved. Many have different definitions of our beloved neighbors upon all the tribes of judah upon all dry GROUNDS nor the world. Noises has an Aim beloved! Now what noise can be kept beloved! Nothing is wasted but increased. Beloved my true forefathers are true WASHERS OF FEETS OF NEIGHBORS. CAN'T SEPARATE GOD AND NEIGHBORS. There is too much for me to think about before I could make an informed comment on Dr Jensen's enlightening conversation. What I would value is membership in a community of thinkers who discuss the types of critically important issues raised. Traditional church membership and services don't suit everyone. Interactive participation underpinned by Christian theology may be the answer..

There is no Christian or any other community rights. You, as an individual, have a right to freely associate. This is an individual right. The association formed by individuals (the group, the collective etc) has no rights other than the individual rights of its members. Some men dont have any different or any more or less rights by happenstance of which groups he associates. To suggest otherwise is tribal collectivism.

A better way to phrase the headline is, "Christiaity worked", past tense. Christians are guilty of the same feeling of entitlement. The ancient Greeks did not believe that people were good or bad. They did believe that, no matter how proper, just or loving a person appeared, demons lay below the surface of every human and we have to learn to deal with them and keep them under control. That's just the way things are. This was illustrated in the myths of Apollo and Dionysus. Nietzsche was a classics scholar who explains this concept in, "The Birth of Tragedy". The Greek myths which underlie their philosophy are not that different from the Christian myths. Human nature does not change. Christianity required centuries of brutal, ruthless, even thuggish enforcement by the state to become widely accepted in the west. There was nothing mysterious about it. To quote Joseph Campbell, most Christians have become lost in the myth, in particular the fundamentalists, and have become oblivious to the thoughts behind it. Born in the Bronze Age and adapted through the Dark Ages, Christianity served the social order. We are now in an industrial age which does not economically support former traditional family or moral structure. Almost no one believes in the divine right of kings or nobility through birth. A new order will eventually emerge, but we are in a difficult transitional period. Human nature is still the same and what ever comes will still likely be explainable through the metaphors of the Dionysian and Apollonian myths.

Nothing past about it that’s merely your personal interpretation. Explain what a Christian is ? what tenets of faith make one a Christian ?and how that comes to fruition? What’s the process biblically ?

You could look at the Bible from a historical/archeological point of view. You may be very surprised. As an example the existence of King David has been proven in our lifetime. If you want to come at it from an intellectual view rather than faith I'd definitely recommend "the case for christ" a remarkable little book by Lee strobel.

@@imout671Don't you think there's far more interesting things to do? And if it had this dimension to it only, ie: historical text (rather poor one), I would be ok with it. But no, people attempt to navigate life through it and that is what bothers me deeply.
@iggle64483 жыл бұрын
If I may say, to me as a Christian, your approach seems to be a bit like being hungry every day and having plenty of money but choosing to eat from McDonalds 3x everyday. Instead of which you could enjoy a massive spectrum of foodstuffs, food shops and cuisines ranging from the cheapest, most pedestrian to those that can only be talked about in hushed, poetic tones... depending on your appetites, needs, curiosity. The discovery and practice of faith is somewhat like that - multi-layered, multifaceted, from the transcendentally sublime to the tediously and incredibly ridiculous and back again. There's also the crucial failing that all humans suffer: we don't know what we don't know. There's always more to discover...(And PS, I might venture that perhaps your theology teacher is not the best and might be one of those who'd eviscerate and pulp any subject they taught?!)
@TheAtheist223 жыл бұрын
@@iggle6448 Religion makes no sense, given what we’ve learned about the world so far. It’s called Science. It is where most of our wonder and amazement comes from. It is the way we care for each other (medicine is an example). And if you don’t believe that, next time you’re sick don’t go to the hospital. Just pray and see what happens. I want to see a world where religious education is a thing of the past, abolished, like slavery, cause it is exactly that, man made slavery of the mind.
