What an awesome conversation, Peter Jensen has touched all the main tenets of Christianity in a clear, understandable way. What an evangelist! Thank you, John Anderson, for giving us this uplifting conversation

I’d say that the Catholic schools in this country from my experience are terrible when it comes to teaching the truths of the faith. I learned more by researching and listening to podcasts than I ever did from school. I went to a prominent Catholic College and we had one mass a year, which we were taken by bus to a basketball stadium. Why we couldn’t use the large Catholic cathedral style Church a couple of blocks away is a mystery.

Check out Sam Shamoun. He's a ex Calvinist who is now steeped in the Church Fathers. His Biblical knowledge is absolutely amazing. His teaching sessions here on youtube are filled with spiritual meat.

Yes that is the way of our times. I agree with your comments. The 1970's onwards was a time of it being fashionable not teaching or living the Faith. I have stayed Catholic despite this because I knew the vices and fashions of the times are at fault. I have sought to correctly understand and to live according to Christ's precepts and in his Church. I measure everything, myself, my society and the world against history and the reality of history. Christ is not only God who condescends to save us from ourselves. God loves mankind....but does mankind want to love and live as God wills which is a reasonable way that is virtuous. It matters. The way we live in this life impacts on the next.

Zechariah 12:10 “I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have PIERCED; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn."

Jensen's is obviously from the reformed tradition when he says Christianity is only about what Jesus does for us and not about us. As most in that tradition he doesn't understand the concept of "both." It's a covenant where both parties work for the benefit of the other party. To be certain Christ did the lion's share but that doesn't mean that men living like Christ isn't important. Both are important! Salvation is by grace (Christ's atonement) through faith (man's active trust and obedience to the gospel). It's both together.

The myth that Nero blamed and persecuted Christians for the Great Fire of Rome doesn't really stand up to scrutiny. People forget that Rome had a significant Jewish population which had its own Messianic figures, none of whom was Jesus or Christ, who would rise up against Rome in the first Jewish - Roman War six years later. The whole thing is centred around the statement that the rebels were lead by a man called Chrestus. Pretty circumstantial if you ask me.

Ghandi: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” I think this is one of the reasons why the church has lost so many people.

“The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand, we are obliged to act accordingly.” - Søren Kierkegaard

@@davidcole1475 You fail to understand the basis of Hinduism. An educated Hindu would never deny that Christ is the Son of God. Because the Hindu religion teaches that "God" can be made manifest in infinite ways. Shiva, Christ, Thor, the Great Spirit, can all be manifestations of the same creator and as a Christian you have received something a little different than what a Muslim has received and you have gone with what you have received from God. From a HIndu point of view by being a good Christian you are being a good Hindu.

Who is God in Islam ? Muslims believe that God has no partners or associates who share in His divinity or authority and that God is transcendent, unlike His creations, and thus has no physical form. Nor is God believed to exist in (or be represented by) any material object. A number of divine attributes or “names,” which serve to describe God, are found in the Qur’an. Some commonly known attributes include the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving, the Most High, the Unique, and the Everlasting, among others.______________________________

Philip Jensen, with all due respect, doesn't seem to realise that there are billions of people in the world today who do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God and who don't believe in the Resurrection. To non-Christians, these are highly controversial issues. (By the way, I am not speaking of my own beliefs here.)

Mr Anderson, I really like your channel and I have been listening to your podcast for a long time. And you are a man of reason, I love your podcasts, I admire your analytical mind. Except when....it comes to religion. I think the subject you should be talking about the Church as a political instrument in the West. The Church that has failed us all by attacking free speech whilst supporting Theocracy, namely islam which is nothing else but Theocracy. Remember the Pope's statements following the Charlie Hebdo attacks?? Wouldn't a debate like that be more helpful? Where is Christianity as a political force in the World? Also, talking about death, the beloved subject of Christianity, Thanatocracy. Are you both not aware that we developed Medicine to save people from Divine bacteria!? Also are you both not aware about research on Reversing aging and the evidence we have about it? What's Jesus's position on that? 😂

Ha ha Paul didn't convert Jews in Rome, he converted Roman pagans. Jewish converts are, and were, few and far between for Paul's new Roman Mystery Pagan Religion and that's why he beelined to Rome where the people would be receptive to a religion that replaced all the expensive sacrifices with their doubtful out comes of the old religion with a new pagan religion that had only one cost free human sacrifice with a guaranteed outcome, The dying and resurrected god is a common theme in pagan religion and Christianity had that too! Paul was the consummate marketer, he understood, give them what they know. Get real! Other than sharing a historical framework Christianity and Judaism are completely different religions. This guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

The Angel Gabriel was sent to Mary in the form of a man, with glad tidings of a child who was to be born miraculously without a father. “Then We sent to her Our spirit (angel Gabriel), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: ‘Surely I seek refuge from you with the Most Beneficent (God) if you do fear God.’ He said: ‘I am only a messenger of your Lord: to announce to you the gift of a righteous son.’ She said: ‘How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?’ He said, ‘Thus [it will be]’. Your Lord says, ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.’” Qur’an 19:17-21 Some claim that his miraculous birth is evidence of Jesus’ divinity. However, Jesus was not the first to come into existence without a father, as Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) before him had neither a father nor mother. God says: “The likeness of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: ‘Be’, and he was. This is the truth from your Lord, so be not of the disputes.” Qur’an 3:59-60 Surely, if Jesus is worshipped due to having no father, Adam is more deserving of worship since he was created without either parent.________________________________
