Dr. Stephen Meyer, Jacob Prasch, and I wrote the following; Matter and energy cannot be created nor destroyed, therefore no matter nor energy would’ve existed to do the causing. Consequently, whatever did cause the universe to exist, would need to be immaterial and exist beyond time and space! Genesis 1: 1 God creates time space and matter! The KILLER is, Entropy! Entropy is somewhat opposite of evolution and why did this come into the universe if everything’s getting better? Genesis 2:17 says death came into the universe through the first sin! First two chapters of the Bible not the 500th chapter or the thousandth chapter; explain what evolutionists have not explained; and no other worldview comes close to the Bible, in explaining it! The first two laws of thermodynamics! So the Bible explains how matter, space, time, entropy, and energy get here! DNA does not auto encrypt, it did not write itself the code writer is outside of the code. 3300 billion lines of computer code in 1 humans DNA genome, would fill the Grand Canyon 50 times of Books, let alone plant and animal DNA and it did not write itself! One person‘s DNA could stretch to the sun and back 61 times! Psalm 139:16 “in my members you have written many books“. John 21:25 “I suppose everything Jesus did the world will not have enough room for the Books, telling of it“! God made matter and energy, a.k.a., the first law of thermodynamics and DNA, pointing to himself; pointing to an outside source beyond the realm of the universe; that these things were made there! Job 38:35 “were you there when I created the lightnings and they say ‘here we are!”’ This is God talking to Job! 3300 years later, James Maxwell discovers that light rays and electricity are two forms of the same thing! While it’s understandably difficult to fathom an eternal, infinite God, the alternative (all this began without a cause) is truly absurd. Saying God is “nothing” because He is outside our known reality is a misunderstanding. Again, I get the difficulty. Finite beings can only understand the concept of eternity, not actually grasp it.

Fascinating! I grew up in a very strict, quazie-religious home. I knew, because of the beatings and the tongue lashings that I was bad. But there was never forgiveness or restoration of relationship with my mom and dad. I had to just wait for their anger to blow over until I stepped out of line again, often not knowing where that line was until I crossed it. But when I was 11 years old, mom took us to a Vacation Bible School (free babysitting). There I learned that Jesus not only loved me, but He took the punishment for my sin. He offered forgiveness, restoration of relationship that was immediate. And He gave me an instruction manual, His Bible. And now when I cross the line, there is no bolt of lightning from heaven. Only sorrow, patience and love. Because of His great love that He has for us, I desire to live my best life. My kindest, gentlest, lovingest life.

I always looked at it this way: You're allowed to question things, and that's what free will is. If you're not allowed to question something, that's when you know that something is fishy. A lot of people find faith at their lowest points in life, from finding something to believing in something that might be untrue. Faith gives us hope in believing in the unknown of God. In my own belief, when people try to describe God in human terms, it gets misinterpreted, and a lot of people get lost in the sauce and don't fully understand that we're only conveying it from our own human perspective and understanding.

_Should_ we believe? If an idea is so bad that the only people believing it are desperate, irrational people, is that actually an idea _ever_ worth believing? If an idea is so bad that we can't believe it for good reasons (evidence) and we're forced to believe for a bad reason (faith), why would we ever do that?
@masonfarrell88
@masonfarrell88 4 ай бұрын
I agree that people interpret God in a very human way. But actually, I would challenge you to find a logical fallacy in believing that God created us. If the Bible is correct, he did indeed create us in his own image, and if that’s the case, looking at him in a human way would be exactly the way He intended. He literally gave us the handbook, we just have to read it. But just as another commenter said, science is the How, religion is the Why. Believing that God created the universe isn’t a cop out, it isn’t an excuse to not look deeper into things, and in fact as this presentation shows, religion and science are often closely intertwined. Many if not most of the greatest inventions, discoveries and pushes for progress were achieved by men and women of faith. Note that I do not specify Christianity. And many incredible atheist scientists, some of the greatest minds in history, have found themselves left with only one explanation for how such a beautifully complex masterpiece could be possible.
@majm9309
@majm9309 4 ай бұрын
@@masonfarrell88 Well.. A. In order to commit a fallacy, something needs to be a claim. B. One claim is "God created us". Without an argument why that's true, the mistake is called _fallacy of bare assertion._ Basically it's a claim without evidence; it's saying something is true, but providing no reason/evidence it's true. So that's illogical. C. I don't think it's technically accurate to call a belief "fallacious". Instead, I'd say it's irrational to believe a fallacious claim. (Irrational is anytime one fails to match their beliefs with good evidence/argument.) D. Additionally we know a god didn't cause humanity, because of the overwhelmingly strong evidence for evolution causing us. (A small bit of this evidence can be found in the ~350 scientific papers in the references section of "evolution" on Wikipedia, and the ~289 papers in the references of "human evolution". E. Science will know everything that can be known. Everything else is just people claiming to know things they don't know. That's because science is the strategy where we rely on evidence (the only reliable way of knowing truth), and so either we have reasonable evidence an idea is true (and so we know it) or we don't (which means we don't know it; and anyone claiming to know it is lying, because at best they're just guessing). So no, the science-how/religion-why breakdown is simply wrong. F. The previous point is why 100% of all technologies were discovered using evidence, and 0% using faith. So let's not pretend being a person of faith was relevant. It wasn't. G. Near-infinite "explanations" exist for every topic. (For example "a wizard did it" or a slight variation is _an explanation_ for every unknown out there.) But you have to decide whether you're the sort of person who cares about (1) having _an explanation_ or (2) _The Correct Explanation._ Because nobody in science has found The Correct Explanation was ever god -- to know that requires evidence, and nobody has evidence of gods.
@masonfarrell88
@masonfarrell88 4 ай бұрын
@@majm9309 your points D, E, F and G all make basically the same point, that believing in God is irrational or in any way removes the process of science. The fact that so many discoveries and inventions were achieved by people of faith doesn’t mean that that faith is what they used to prove their discoveries. No, they made their discoveries, figured out the mechanism by which said discoveries operated, and then attributed that mechanism to God. Because the assertion that science proves evolution was the origin of life is objectively incorrect. Evolution can be observed as a process of biological adaptation, and it’s easily observable. BUT, the existence of evolution does not mean that evolution was the origin of life. As of yet, we have zero evidence to prove that abiogenesis is possible.
@majm9309
@majm9309 4 ай бұрын
@@masonfarrell88 Well "removes the process of science" is a weird way to put it. It seems close to the common mistake (that even many atheists make) of saying religion and science are mutually exclusive. They're not. It's just that we don't have evidence of gods, so nobody believing in them is doing so for good, scientific reasons. So it's more accurate to say nobody's arriving at belief in god(s) using science. They're only getting to that belief by unreliable methods (and that should be a huge red flag). That includes attributing a mechanism to a god. If we don't have evidence of a god (A) existing and (B) being responsible for something, then attributing it to a god is irrational and definitely not science. Why are you talking about evolution being the origin of life? Who said that? Certainly not me.

He seemed a bit surprised and even a bit envious when I told him I was leaving physics for reasons of faith. I was an undergrad, so to me it made very little academic difference, except for the fact that we both knew I could always return just as easily. For him, he had spent a lifetime pursuing the neutrino-something I too had been interested in since a rather young age. He did receive his belated recognition and I, my own, in quite another more meaningful way. This is nicely reasoned. I agree with your analysis and congratulate you for it's brevity and wit! I would add that it begs the question (and I won't ask you to congratulate me for brevity here), if you set out to quantify nothing, you are embarking on a kind of metaphorical wild goose chase, because how can you even begin to quantify something that by it's apparent de facto definition has no qualities or quantity associated with it. Another way of putting it might be to say that the whole concept of nothingness is paradoxical, to the point of absurdity, because nothingness in itself is a quality, and so, not nothing i.e. the quality of nothingness is something in itself. It's a self defeating proposition. I think the inevitable, inescapable conclusion of this line of inquiry is that, whether we like it or not, we are more or less stuck with "is-ness". We are immersed in "something-ness" for better or worse. Some have accused me of being childish, and I imagine I open myself up to that charge again here, but it is what it is. This is what the Bible says about creation: The Bible states in the beginning, God created the heavens on the Earth; Edwin Hubbles, discovery of the red shift demonstrates the universe had beginning: evidence supports the Bible. The Bible states God stretched out the heavens like a garment; astronomical observations confirm the universe is expanding ever more rapidly every moment: evidence confirms the Bible. The Bible states God created all living things; fossil evidence shows the sudden appearance of life forms with no ancestral forms, thus eliminating evolution: science confirms the Bible. The Bible states sin entered the world, and through that, death; the fossil record shows the extinction of over 90% of all life forms that ever existed on earth: evidence supports the Bible. The Bible states that through sin corruption entered the universe; the second law of thermodynamics states the universe is descending to a low, common level of energy (it being understood the universe is a close system, to avoid argument): evidence supports the Bible. The Bible states the Waters were gathered together in one place and the dry land appeared; geologist have determined there was once one giant continent on the earth and one giant ocean: evidence supports the Bible. The Bible states the mountains were thrust up, and the valleys were cast down; plate tectonics demonstrates that collision zones produce mountain ranges and subduction zones produce rift and valleys: evidence supports the Bible. The Bible states, Jesus Christ created all things; Frederick Hoyle’s discovery of flying tuning lead him to the belief. The universe is the result of a supreme being: science confirms the Bible. I believe you're absolutely right! I came to this conclusion years ago... that it's personal! Strictly personal why individuals reject the knowledge of God. it's not scientific theory or philosophical arguments that pull people into disbelief. It is, as you said, the desire to not believe in a God that would place them in the reality they perceive to exist. IMO, it is a struggle the human being engages in as he flails against the lies of the Enemy while at the same time witnessing the handprint of God upon himself and the universe. It is the "scientific or philosophical" arguments or interpretations against the belief in God that support the position they've already assumed. The Enemy says "Would a loving, all powerful God abandon you to a world of death, pain, emptiness and betrayal?" While their own deepest personal pains and sorrows step forward to be counted. I was educated early in the Bible so that I always had the information to compare and weigh after a battle with the world. I could never deny my own hope and faith in the qualities of reality that seemed worth living for, even if they rarely or only incompletely manifested. The divine nature of my own existence and experience was something I couldn't get away from or deny.

Just dropping into the comment sections of a lot of videos about God and the Christian faith, I see so many comments from "believers" that are so full of vitriol and so morally high handed and dogmatic that if I weren't already a believer I certainly wouldnt be drawn to faith in God from their responses. As believers we are supposed to be the salt of the earth, long-suffering, loving, patient, kind... not vindictive, spiteful, having a "you'll get yours in the end!" attitude towards non-believers. How is that helpful to grow the Kingdom? Which is by the way our mission. Blessings. Peace.

speaking to your remarks around 12:00 on many studies showing that "a bad understanding of who God is, is tied to one's unwillingness to believe" - the Scripture takes a different view, stating that man has no excuse because the law of God is written on his heart, thus he suppresses the truth of God in his intentional unrightousness so it is not a misunderstanding or a mischaracterisation of God that repels fallen man, but man's own nature which causes him to mischaracterise God and thus give him reason to flee from the Light tl;dr rebels by nature can do nothing but rebel

@frankfibich7152
@frankfibich7152 4 ай бұрын
@@drumrnva because why would it exist in the first place? It just would never exist. Take God out of the picture and you would never have anything, that could even begin to exist. Nothingness would be there, which is the result of nothing. 0 equals 0. Our awareness of nothing and something itself is an indicator, that there is higher intelligence and power, because if there always was "a something", we could never think about "nothing". And if we think about nothing we say "then why did something happen?" Because if you try to think of something that never existed, you will always put it together by something that actually exists. But with "nothing" it's different, actually thinking about "nothing" is really scary. Why? Because you can think away everything around you, but you can't think away yourself, if you try it feels like getting lost. And that's what it is actually. If you believe in nothing as your creator, you will be in the presence of your creator for eternity, Jesus called it "outer darkness". With free will you decide where you go. With Jesus (love) or with darkness.

Excellent point at the end. I have a friend the grew up going to Christian school most his life, not because he came from a Christian family, but because his parents wanted him to go to a private school for safety. He has heard the Gospel dozens of times, he had to read the Bible and learn about the scriptures origins as part of his mandatory Bible classes. He’s heard all the scientific evidence for God and creation. Even with all that background he thoroughly rejects God. Why? Partly because of the witness of other kids that claimed to be Christians that partied, did drugs, and slept around. Partly because he had a personal tragedy and God did not fix it when his Christian friends cried out to God about it. I don’t know for a fact that he himself cried out to God for help, but I couldn’t imagine him not given the circumstances. The thing is, he doesn’t want God. His reasons for rejecting God are just excuses for the actual fact that he just doesn’t want God.

Cool story. Nice how you know better than he does what his reasons are; that he just doesn't want god. It's almost comical how theists just can't accept that some people just find the arguments for god lacking, and instead assume they blame god for a traumatic experience, or love their life of sin. What I WANT is irrelevant. I cannot wish an argument to be convincing, and have it be so. I remained a Christian through my trauma (albeit relatively mild). My morality has not become worse since I "gave in to sin." Indeed, I recognized flaws in my faith based morality. I remained a Christian when I became convinced that the Earth is old, and a couple years later convinced of evolution. So it wasn't science either. I literally cried, repeatedly, for the first time in a decade as a grown man when I was losing my faith. It's not the easy way out as theists like to portray.

I would LOVE IT if you could curate a scientific book list of your favorites pointing to the logical existence of God and the irrefutability of Christ's resurrection. Thank you for your consideration and for spreading the gospel to the world so intelligently! I share your channel with everyone :)

That’s taking it to far… yes evidence must point to God but the idea that God came on earth to be killed by his own creation so that he can forgive us is ridiculous. It does not befit God’s majesty to become a human and eat and sleep. He is far above what you associate with him. Your God and my God is one. No partners. No sons and roommates. That came from the Roman Empire.

@@user-es8jm2nf5e The Bible, God's inspired Word to mankind, tells about the supernatural rebellion that occurred in the unseen realm (AKA heaven) and how that rebellion came to earth and corrupted it. A Redeemer was promised to destroy the works of evil. That Redeemer came and with His perfect life demonstrated God's goodness and with His shed blood, He made the perfect and eternal sacrifice for all sins for all time and only by an act of faith in the work of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection from the dead can a person's moral failures be atoned for. Jesus said, "it is finished" as His last words on the cross, meaning that the stain of sin is covered. When He returns to earth, and after His millennial reign, all evil will be vanquished forever, and the perfection of creation will be restored completely. Without a knowledge of the Bible and God's ways, we are in darkness to all these matters. Let God be God. Get to know Him ON HIS TERMS. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Every person alive fears death. Why? It's a frightening concept because we were created to live forever in a perfect world. When sin entered the world, death came to all people. Knowing Jesus, living for Him, having His promise of eternal life after this one--no more fear of death. The peace of having one's life reconciled to God, there is no better peace.

If you choose to accept it at face value, then fine, but you should know a lot of what Turek says is just not true or misrepresented. Turek starts with the conclusion that god is real and works backwards. That is not how you honestly investigate the world. A lot of very dedicated and intelligent people are looking at exactly how the universe began, its one of the reasons the James Webb Telescope was sent into space.

Irrefutable fact. This is now a purely logical argument. As the universe cannot create itself, where did all the matter and energy in the universe come from? 2nd law - Entropy always increases, i.e- disorder increases over time - buildings, animals, people, trees, cars etc deteriorates over time. Naturalism and Darwinian evolution states that chemicals/substances interacted with each other to create life by itself and evolved which is a violation of the 2nd law. But none of these arguments is an argument for God, either the Biblical god or any other. They are only arguments against the Big Bang - and some are obviously wrong, such as the Thermodynamics example which only applies to closed systems and thus excludes the earth. Disproving the Big Bang wouldn't go one step toward proving a god, much less a specific one like the Jewish or Christian god.

When my atheist friends asked me the question “if God exists where is God then” I responded with the following. If you go to a yard sale and find this amazing masterpiece of a painting. You can look at it you can obliviously tell someone painted it. You can study it all you want and it will lead you to a painter. Now someone else looks at that painting who has knows art may see the techniques used matches other paintings and will tell you who the creator is. That is the same for God and the universe. When you are born you are born into Gods canvas. You can spend your entire life studying the universe and may come to the conclusion that the universe has a creator. But unless you know (art) in this case scriptures you won’t be able to determine the creator. Many scientist study the universe and don’t believe in God. Why? Because they look outward to define their existence when they should look inward to define existence. So where is God? God is within you… you just have to want to look.

So if we look at scripture and find out that some of the stories about what God supposedly did could not have happened because they don’t match the evidence that we find… this means that the abrahamic God can not be the creator who created us, right? It’s just like a painting of a famous painter that turns out to be a forgery.

Have you also read the errors (often called "logical fallacies") of each of Turek's arguments. He's not using unique arguments, they're in most cases extremely old arguments, and most of the time we've known their errors for over a hundred years. Yet they're all Turek has. So nobody should be convinced of a god (and that non-belief doesn't involve faith even a little bit).

Correction. The No Boundary Proposal states that the Universe existed in a Euclidean geometry with no temporal dimension only spatial dimensions, and then became a Lorentzian geometry with temporal dimension. So Hawking and his colleagues did not say the universe itself began but rather time had a beginning. There is a difference. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be transferred. Source: Live Science The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that the state of entropy of the entire universe, as an isolated system, will always increase over time. The second law also states that the changes in the entropy in the universe can never be negative. Source: Chemistry Libre texts This means the change in entropy can either be greater than or equal to zero. This does not mean that the total amount of entropy was zero at one point.
