I remember seeing this movie as a kid when it aired on TV. I love this version of Dracula, I think this is an underrated gem of a movie. Still I’m planning on getting this on Blu-ray.

My wife has just bought the DVD shan't see her till she's wore it out,we watched it when it first came on TV ,she opened the windows and threw the cross outside saying come bite me anytime please,I think she is in love with him,must say we have watched loads of vampire movies she has quite a collection ,and I think Frank Langella was the most sexy of them all.

This has been my hands down favorite version of "Dracula" since I first saw it in the theater when it premiered in 1979. Frank Langella was beautiful and sexy as hell. And, what makes this version even better is Sir John Williams' hauntingly beautiful score. I have collected every score he has ever composed, and have a few that are my favorites..."Close Encounters", "E.T.", "Poseidon Adventure", "Schindler's List"... and I could go on. But, there is the emotion this score has that makes it truly stand out from the rest of his work. In fact, if anyone else had composed the score, the film would have become a "B" movie, and faded away.

12 million budget isn’t exactly low for 1979. Very well-made horror which has bundles of atmosphere, especially the scenes in the nuthouse and underneath the graveyard. Langella is great in the title role but could have done without the count being portrayed as some sort of Casanova.

This film is a good and interesting adaptation of Dracula, it is worth watching, elements such as the well-constructed atmosphere and the good and convincing performance by Frank Langella are two things that help with this.
