It really is concerning when so many people leave a project. Nothing against those who have continued to stay on or the new ones coming on of course. However, when the people who have left are the reason we fell in love with characters and story lines and lore, it makes me nervous that important things just won't feel the same anymore, or that things will change and not feel like "our Dragon Age" anymore. Fingers crossed though 🤞🏻

I think what frightens me more is that they are EA's puppet. Lord knows Anthem was a big catastrophe. Fingers crossed DA 4 comes out exceptional though, they've set the possible story up so well.

I am trying to not have any expectations but it is hard especially since there have been 3 games that people have enjoyed on varying levels. With that said, turnover happens especially in the pandemic where all levels have seen higher turnover. I think since people are invested on keeping their eye on Bioware and Dragon Age, it really seems to be worrying but is the norm. I think game development is really hard cause we often hear the game releases how terrible work conditions can be. I just hope we do not see that with Bioware and that they have made good on those promises of improving work environment.

Can't wait for the next DA trailer. it's definitely tough seeing staff departures in the way we have, but if you judge this development so far on everything aside from that, the studio messaging repeated patience, no current-gen console work for Bioware, very hush-hush in the leaks dept, focus on story and single player... it's all been ideal, and the hype is gonna get real very fast when the next teaser comes out.

I can definitely see something like Red Lyrium darkspawn in the next game as lesser enemies like the darkspawn were in Inquisition. Since it’s connected to the blight anyway it would be strange for Red Lyrium not to be used by darkspawn in any way.

Im a little worried about the departures. But at the same time, departures arent evidence of things going wrong, people leave for a variety of reasons. If we heard multiple people leaving for the same reasons then that is something to be alarmed about. I just hope they arent short staffed or working people too hard. Id much rather have the game delayed for another 3 years if it meant people werent forced to do 10 times the workload due to low staffing in a small frame of time.

I still think Gabe Heiland left BioWare because she worked with live service stuff, and the game is now single player. As for Asa, for what she posted on Twitter, apparently she was forced to leave, it was not her choice (probably something of those terrible execs). So, I don't think that this is actually concerning.

I would love to see Sandal come back and be part of Dragon Age 4. He was a mystery and an interesting character. Love the spooky art, very interesting and fits with the "moon" in a lot of other pieces you've critiqued as it was very "prominent" in the new concept art. If there was a new "pet" we could have with the next dragon age I would like to see the Mabari come back and/or a griffon or some other animal we could fly around on, that would be very cool, even befriend a dragon would be very nice also.

If Sandal is in the game and not voiced by Yuri, it might be something related to the cost of hiring him. Yuri has always been a big name in the industry but I'm pretty sure the cost of hiring him to voice act has risen a lot since DA2. If Sandal doesn't have a very big role, they may have decided it wouldn't be worth it financially. I don't know of course, just tinfoil hat stuff. I remember similar things happening regarding Troy Baker.

A lot of jobs in the industry are contract-based. It could just be that their contracts were over and they decided to move on, or there just wasn't any more work for the role that they were in at the company. Who knows, could return when those spots open up again, or just might be a bit burnt out and need a change.

Yet another well spoken and researched update from my fave DA KZbinr. I'm actually both excited AND hopeful for DA4. Why? Bc BioWare is doing it right this time. No last gen to hold them back, no MP stuff to toil over, SP focus, no leaks, they're taking their time, the devs communicate well and seem to be chill and happy on Twitter. No worried thinkpieces by "gaming journalists" either. So yeah, I think we're in for a GEM!

im super excited to see how they handle character customization this time around. it would be lovely to have a buff female hero imo. if my lady is a warrior and she’s been training her entire childhood, or was an assassin that roamed the alleyways with light feet and stealth, i want her to show for it. i would love a masculine fem hero. quinari women are wonderful but i have the same feeling about femshep in mass effect. she is not very buff at all for a soldier. also, the concept art is lovely. the entirety of dragon age imagery and lore enthralls me and it makes me wish i could see it with my own eyes. i love watching these because it reminds me that dragon age is so much bigger and intricate than i imagined possible when i first picked it up. my hopes are just that i can feel happy playing vanilla and have more lgbtqia+ community characters. oh and i’d love to see the hero or ferelden :’) a long shot i know

Normally I'm a console girl, but my last big playthrough I did on PC, and I think...assuming I've got a PC that can run it well, I'm gonna aim for PC for DA4, too. If not, it'll be the PS5 version for me. It's starting to feel like the game is on the horizon, finally...we've probably got another 1.5-2 years or so, but...after such a long wait, it feels like the home stretch in a way!

Honestly, if all Sandle says is "Enchantment." it makes sense Yuri was not called in. Bioware should already have the voice files of every different way for Sandal to say "Enchantment." so there is no need to call up the VA.

I'm with you that it's possible Yuri wasn't being completely honest about not being asked to voice Sandal again. I mean, Tom Baker lied through his teeth stating he was disappointed to not be asked to be in the 50th anniversary special. Anything is possible! I'm not a console gamer, but I did pick up a new Alienware PC this past summer (my 5-year-old gaming PC was dragging a bit and the processor in it isn't even supported by Windows 11). So far, the Alienware has treated me right. It's an Alienware Aurora R12, with an 11th gen i7 core @ 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM (which I may upgrade later), and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card.

I was one of the poor bastards that got inquisition on 360 and let me tell you when I heard trespasser wasn't coming I was so mad I didn't touch the game for a month and it wasn't until a few years later that I was able to even expirence the whole story Even though you focus on the game being held back(yeah it was night and day up grading)for me it was breaking a promise about not missing out on content and knowing I would have to start over all my playthroughs to give them an actual ending So I do support this even though I'm dreading having to buy something next Gen but hey it was either going to be dragon age or something from Bethesda that got me to up date and I feel I known that for a while (It's nearly enough to cry thinking that the original skyrim release happened in the same year as DA2 and they out right admitted that they haven't started working on the next one)

Just because the voice actor can't return for whatever reason, doesn't mean the character can't/ won't. There could be a story reason why Sandal doesn't speak, or Bioware could use previous voice clips of Sandal, and the character could return. Just my thoughts.

No offense intended towards the two team members who left, but I think Bioware departures get a bit too much publicity as a negative or uncommon thing because of the high profile members who've left over the past decade. The UX designer and Associate Quality Designer leaving (especially when the latter was scooped up by Epic rather than just quitting in general) isn't really ringing any alarm bells for me. More than likely changes in staff like that are quite common for projects this size at this stage in production we just don't hear about it typically because most studios don't have a reputation as '''That company ''all'' the important people are leaving!!!'' or have anyone checking their hires/departures list worrying about its implications. I sincerely doubt either of these people left because of mismanagement or development hell at the studio and don't think its anything to worry over.

hate to break it to everybody but the reality is Dragon Age won't be the same game we've seen in the future. It's going to be changed for the worse. It will no longer play, feel, or be like previous Dragon Age games. That's why I don't care very much about DA4 or when it will be released.

The problem with making Dragon Age 4 PC and next-generation Consoles only is that this time we have a chip shortage which is making a shortage of Consoles for their audience to interact with. This'll not help due to prior track record of quality games being mired with the new engine woes of Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem. This is make or break for BioWare and with key developer turnover; it doesn't look good.

Dragon Age had one good title, the very first one - Dragon Age Origins, which was a partial return to BG2 style of gaming. Ever since then Bioware has fallen from hero to zero, and they've only released crappy games since then. The DA franchise is dead and I have no hopes for DA4. Still decided to watch this video though, to see what is going on.

What? Mass Effect 2 came out after DAO and that was brilliant, as was ME3 after we got the EC. DAII was a gem of an RPG and DAI outsold and outperformed them ALL. I also thought MEA was a solid game. Haven't played Anthem so idk about that. The DA franchise is alive and well.

​@@elisabetta611 No. No. No. The Mass Effect series is overrated. It's not horrible, but it's not great either. The first one was the best of the three, in my opinion. As for DA II, that was a disastrously bad game, where Bioware went away from real RPG to action-oriented gameplay with exaggerated visuals meant to appease the mainstream audience, with poor narrative, bland characters, poor game and combat mechanics. DA 3 / Inquisition was more of the same, it had some graphical appeal in certain areas, but that's it. And the combat was so disengaging point-and-click, click the target and see whether your auto attacks / special abilities connect or not. You can pretty much hear the dices rolling. That doesn't work well for a modern game with third-person view. It might work for an isometric party-based game, but not a third-person view game. The combat in The Witcher 3 was far from perfect, but it was on the right track. The likes of blocking, parrying, dodging, evading, footwork, using your shield, etc. actually controlling your character in battle, relying on a little bit of skill, that's the way to go, rather than just the tedious point-and-click-wait-and-see-whether-the-attack-connects-or-not approach. The comabt wasn't anywhere near perfect in Skyrim either, but imagine yourself playing Skyrim with a skill/ability bar at the bottom of the screen and clicking your target and having auto-attacks, rather than you really controlling your character in combat... That would have been so disengaging and dull. That perfectly describes DA 3's lacklustre combat. And again, the characters/NPCs in DA 3 were so boring and so not interesting or fitting the setting. In some cases they are trying too hard, ending up making characters far too flamboyant and colourful, so out of touch, and implausible. Lastly, many of the weapons in DA 3 were so oversized I can't take it seriously. It becomes so cartoonish, and I lose interest immediately. This is a common problem I have with many modern RPGs. I'm not entirely sure who started that trend, but I think it might have been Blizzard with their World of Warcraft. Having my character run around the countryside with a two-handed maul or sword that is so exaggeratingly big that it realisticly would require the combined strength of two ogres to lift it, nevermind swing it. No. No. No. Why can't they make it realistic and authentic-looking ? it's like they're trying to sabotage their own games... I didn't even bother to waste my money on Andromeda or Anthem, and based on the feedback from other players, it seems I dodged a bullet there. But each to their own, man. If you like Bioware's game over the last 12-13 years or so, then that's your right. But I also have the right disagree with you.
