That's fine and often someone doesnt have to agree with mainstream or whatever opinions, I'm enjoying playing it too and for what it is the game is fine it's just a bad RPG (it's not an RPG at all really) and a terrible Dragon Age game that suffers from bad millennial writing that will be completely irrelevant and mostly forgotten after a year. The writing and dialogue are just really bad. The characters all talk and interact like they're the exact same person and no arcs or side-plots. There is no conflict between anyone, no complex morality issues, and no roleplay possibilities or any choices. The things playing out in the world aren't even being taken serious and everything feels like it is made for a child and the characters treat it like "Oh! That just happened! Lmao!" You run around screaming that some evil elven gods that were trapped are back to do evil stuff and people just immediately believe you. It all feels very rushed and you teleport between places without having any clue where this place is in the world. Your character is just put into command of people infinitely more experienced and well-connected in the world than you are because of no reason... it's also annoying the writers blatant projection of stances on American socio-cultural issues that don't matter to anyone who isn't terminally online or lives outside the USA... I'm sure that will age well. It's extremely obvious that the target audience of this game certainly isn't the fans of the previous Dragon Age games which is why above all other critiques of the game most people are extremely dissapointed with it.

To get 'The Point' dagger, collect the quest "Missing in action" from the beginning of the main teleport point, continue until you fight the boss towards the end on the roof, once done, jump up on some boxes, destroy the boils, jump over, go into the attic, activate the book case in the attic and there's a chest on the roof behind the bookcases.

I find my taste align with Mortismal extremely well, especially when he dropped his top cRPG games (I too think Pathfinder: WOTR is the superior RPG despite me enjoying BG3 overall better). Honestly I was skeptical of DA: Veilguard because of Bioware's shaky history (I enjoyed every DA so far as well) and I'm glad the game was able to capture my favorite cRPG KZbinr. Been playing the game and I'm happy to see our taste continues to align because I been loving the game so far. Yeah there are issues, I'm not a fan of the cringy Marvel-esqe dialogue in the beginning but I'm happy to see it gets better the more you get into the game. Ultimately I'm happy most because Mortismal isn't letting this weird culture war drag him down, despite all the weirdos hate-watching him simply for enjoying Veilguard. I rarely make comments on KZbin videos but much love to him for ignoring all the nonsense and just does what he does best, play the shit out of one game and make multiple builds for it. Idk where I would place Veilguard yet on all the DA games since each game has its list of pros and cons, but I can def say I'm enjoying this game solid thus far. Maybe not my GOTY (Black Myth or Astrobot got my vote for that) but its def a very enjoyable game thusfar.

It's nice to see you went with the Warden faction... most streamers say to go with Shadow Dragon for the mana regen, but it's so minuscule that it's barely noticeable. However, having extra health AND defense is always a plus for melee combat as well as bonus to killing darkspawn, which are obviously plentiful in the game.

having so much fun with the orb and dagger as a mage, I know this is blasphemy but this is probably the most fun I've had with combat in a DA game. Also the addition of sprinting and being able to smoothly vault over objects while sprinting is great, very normal things in many games but new for dragon age, hope it continues. Anyone trying the mage and having a frustrating time, keep going, it was at like hour 16 when I finally felt like I was getting it down, also remember to block and not just spam dodge like I was doing lol

@@Zoze13 if you watch both their videos, there's not that many contradiction. it's at most difference in taste. things that skill up hate don't even appear in mort's video (means mort don't care about it), and things that skill up thinks is meh or okay, mort likes. I actually agree more with skill up than mort, except this is my first dragon age so I'm not disappointed about it being a dragon age, I'm just disappointed I wasted my money on it. that being said, fuck the haters. while I mostly disagree with mort (I agree with some of his points), it should be okay to like a game without a mob of "gamers" accusing you of being a shill, a sellout, etc. attack the argument, not the person.

Gameplay looks fun enough; I just don't feel interested enough to try it right now. I'm not looking forward to Mass Effect or any BioWare game that's coming in the future either, most of the people that made that studio what we know of are at Archetype Entertainment, so I'm much more interested in EXODUS right now, their sci-fi RPG coming up.

I was lv11 mage and ran into a 25 boss in Teviso today. Probably should have moved on but I was a stubborn bitch and slammed my face against it for like 2 hours. The cold magic slow + Arcane Bomb + Harding/Lucanis’s detonations carried my ass through that fight. I’m so glad this game gives mages a sword + orb right from the start.

I did exactly the same last night. Except i was equipped with a necrosis staff, and had to deal with it with an electric orb. I do prefer staves. It took me almos 20min battling it because it kept summoning darkspawn That boss was a champion. It gives you its essence to use on the crossroads to unlock a path

A great amulet option is the Grey Emblem because its a very easy way to guarantee getting critical hits to proc advantages but if you really wanna go nuts on that front, the Maw of the Black City ring + Garb of Kinship is an absolutely nutty combination

I'm playing a ranged Evoker mage, and I find that fire is great compliment to that build too, especially in the early levels. Once you get meteor, is arcane bolt is pretty much redundant, but its useful early on. I'd also say that while the skill tree can look overwhelming at a glance, you really aren't penalized for building on opposite ends of the sphere. Evoker looks like its far away from fire, but by the time you hit lvl 20, you have plenty points to build out each direction.

Started my first game as a warrior (aiming for reaper subclass) but honestly the next one will definitely be mage, it sounds so fun!

I played the whole game with the Death Caller Specialization which looks like it should be weak since you should struggle with mana in heavy armor, but right before the Spec there is a Node that allows you to Regenerate mana rapidly on command. I comboed it with Ice spells to cause Chill and Freeze on enemies, and +50Mana next to Chain Lightning and mana on Chest armor, and suddenly I could spam Necro spells and freeze enemies when I needed to regen my mana back... It was super effective... Also Nodes that increase Area Size and Damage per enemy hit with area ability are very strong on this build... In boss fights you absolutely melt boss HP and Barrier, but for armour I would recommend Switching Frost nova for Ice Blast, and run it with Greater Authority. Last but not least since your spells are so huge AOEs and hit so many enemies with each cast, Picking zone of Infusion means two spells completely replenish staff energy. EDIT: LOL, I do not know why, but the Mortalitasi talent is bugged since today... It no longer works on abilites just on the Shift Attack... What?

Only 4 hours in but I am enjoying the new DA a lot. Production quality and general combat is top notch, along with amazing visuals all along. I don't mind the cartoony character models... I watch anime and cartoons. Dialog is the weakest part of the game, but not so much as to come close to ruining my time so far. PC gaming continues to evolve in the right direction as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly, it's hard to say. It's EA's biggest launch on steam ever, even beating out Jedi: Survivor but without knowing the full financials it's very difficult to tell what it being a financial success looks like for this. I liked it obviously, but I am always a realist especially about money. It's clearly not going to be a blockbuster, but I'm happy to see that most people who play it seem to enjoy it.

Void Blade has been my go to but my favorite companions tend to all have ways of applying Sundered for it. Void Blades main draw is being both a Strike and Blast spell and has a very easy critical condition to meet. Chain Lightning is solid but I found tge spell just whiffs more often than Id care to admit so I found myself replacing it.

I would really like to a see a Rogue video, based your playthrough of that class. I'm playing the same spec you did and wonder what your gear choices were. There are is also lots of information the game doesn't tell you (how long does X last for example) that makes the build process harder.

Thanks for the video. That you can respec as wanted is good. Being able to experiment with a class is pretty fundamental to an RPG: play the class the way you want. Onward to 400k. All glory to the algorithm.

Hey Mort, I know DA kinda gave up on the Spirit Healer long ago, but does the game allow you make a build around supporting? When I say support I don't exactly mean just healing, but focusing on buffs, maybe shields, CC, debuffs and the like that make a difference.

I'm playing a Warrior Dwarf was thinking they would let them have magic this game but oh well. It's been pretty easy so far I'm on Nightmare took down Desmal (lvl25) at level 10 or 11
