This reveal, especially after the negative reaction to the teaser, was a chance to show the best the game has to offer. What it showed was an uninspiring, on the rails action sequence where the vague dialogue choices have no real ourcome and a single spell is being used in combat. Even as a cinematic action game this looks like a major step back from Mass Effect 3, which came out TWELVE YEARS AGO.

I don’t know…ever since DA2 and DAI, I believe the fan base is split between OG fans and new fans; and the new fans are divided between those who jumped in at DA2 and those who jumped in at DAI. The new fans for the most part won’t have much of a problem with this. The OG fans still holding on to Origins, they’re a different story. Don’t know when they’ll realize they’re a dying breed.

Hellblade 2 isn't indie but it's a great game nonetheless and I highly recommend it, use a good headset if you can. If you like CRPGs I highly recommend WoTR or rogue trader, owl cat are currently one of the best Crpg developers. There's also stuff like transistor, her story, Celeste, outer wilds, frost punk and so on, all games worth checking out and are basically classics at this point.

It's because of the setting at the beginning. Minrathous is literally built on magic and has been (throughout the series) referenced as leaps and bounds ahead of the other areas. (It's why Dorian views Fereldan as so ... um ... rustic.)

Better but i have 2 concerns: A) The combat doesnt look very strategic and the parts where he tried to use abilities / the bow tactically seemed very forced and not useful B) Its extremely colorful, flashy, neon - my eyes are already strained after this demo, i doubt i can play several hours of this to be honest....

i noticed that the motif designs in the background contained a lot of diamond shapes, it's like the sims dev that's working on this game stared at the sims logo for so long that he subconciously implements them in this game too... unless it's intentional 😂😂

This was infinitely better than the trailer that dropped a couple days ago, but I'm still not sold. That trailer showed me that what's left of BioWare wants to turn Dragon Age into something more akin to a hero-shooter. And that is something I am the opposite of interested in.

I am super surprised by some folk defending this piece of thrash - if you are saying that this trailer is great, you are either a troll or have never played Dragon Age, so basically you have no idea what you are talking about. This game has nothing in common with the Dragon Age IP and as a fan, it hurts me to see another studio being butchered to chase some trends and sacrifice every part of your identity to check some boxes you can market further. This is not about identity politics or wokeness, so you can stop writing your comment right now. Also, the only selling point of this game is the title IP, as the gameplay, dialogues, visuals, animations, features, and story shown so far are average at best, and are not by any means at the level of the game that was in development by AAA best selling studio for past 10 years.

And yet you've failed to articulate exactly what it is about what we've seen so far that you dislike. You call all of this 'average' but to me it looks like a technical enhancement in every direction thus far. Granted, it's hard to really judge that on a 20 minute video for what is likely an 80+ hour long game, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. As someone who has played Bioware games since Origins was first released and replays them on an almost yearly basis, it comes across as wearing rose-tinted glasses anytime someone sings the praises of the last 3 games completely uncritically. They were awesome of course, or I wouldn't feel the need to consistently replay them, but they were not perfect by any means.

This is better than the trailer, at the very least. Regarding fidelity with the tone of the series: I did see a similar design to the hinterlands in the way that the grasses looked, and the trees in the Arlathan Forest and surrounding environments did still match what I remembered from Inquisition. However, it's been 10 years. 10 years and I don't think we can ignore that even though Inquisition had decent graphics for its time, these graphics (lighting, textures, depth, clarity, etc) are without question better. They are different though, in style and composition. That is not what I'm worried about so much. I do agree that the enemy's presently look very busy, but so does the rest of the world and it might be useful to be able to determine where the enemies are easily, hence some of the neon lightening on the pride demon, or the flames on those other creatures that were probably raged demons, though I do miss the magma slug form from the previous games. I'm not very sold on the hollow nature of the pride demons they look a bit too flimsy even though they have retained a large size. Additionally, I missed their deep guttural growl and chuckle from Inquisition especially. Although, whenever they started using their abilities and Inquisition, they were very neon as well the only difference is that they were not always as colorful during an entire encounter. I do finally see what they mean in terms of having the similar game play to Mass Effect, although we were not too removed from ME type gameplay in Dragon Age Inquisition or DAII save for some specific mechanics that only exist in ME. The main difference is that we didn't have to manually aim for ranged attacks - as far as I can tell. Now, my actual complaint in terms of game play is that I don't have the old skill bar that I can use from a PC standpoint that goes from one to eight or however many skills would have been appropriate in this game as it seems like there are tons to choose from based off of that empty radial screen . The fact that it looks like it's made specifically for console and not to have much integration with PC does worry me a little bit, but this might have been a console test. As many people know the ui does look different between PC and console so I hope that that is different when I pick it up for PC . At present the largest qualms I have are with the writing, the examples of which we have only seen the trailer and these 20 or so minutes of this particular cut of gameplay. I understand why it is so short and potentially quippy, but that's only because this is the opening moment of the game and we need to get the ball rolling. I'm sure when the action comes down a little bit after this we will have a similar moment that hearkens back to just after the destruction of the Conclave in DAI when we can have a breather and get into characters a bit more. I have loved the series since I was first introduced, and I will give DAIV a shot - And I Fully agree that the marketing team made it catastrophic misstep with the tonality and presentation of the trailer. But in the ultimate spirit of fairness, now that I've had a moment to look at everything in its completeness, I think that there has been some undue criticism, as well as perfectly valid criticism. Ultimately the only way that we can know if it's good or not will be to play it as I have been surprised by games in the past, and I will be surprised by games in the future as well. Special note: The people specifically complaining that it doesn't look more like DAO are kind of wild with that, the game hasn't looked like DAO for at least 13 years - and they never went back in Inquisition either, so what makes anyone think they would go back for DA:IV? That expectation specifically feels more than a bit unrealistic considering everything.

I would argue that Game of Thrones and Witcher set a presedence that mature and dark fantasy themes can find a rather large audience. If they did a DOA-esque game in todays market. It would sell like hot potatoes. Baldurs Gate 3 also is (or at least can be played) considerably darker than BG1 and 2.

This is leagues better than the trailer, but i feel like none of us asked for a lot of this. 2 companions? Removal of even the vaguest of tactics? Generic hack and slash? Wonder what mage combat is. I might still play, but ill probably have to watch a streamer test it out first. Its really sad that AAA companies dont listen to what their consumers actually want and just go with whatever they believe is popular. Money is king.

Quick question? What makes this dragon age, other as using names and likeness of the previous games. This doesn't even feel close to the previous games. EA at it again, parading around the corpse of a franchise, claiming it to be new, refreshing and for the so called true fans. This is an utter disgrace. Writing is bad, voice acting feels phoned in. Well have to see what the actual game will be like, but for now after 2 failed games, i'm not holding out for much hope.

Dragon Age Origins was once my favorite game of all time. I don’t think this one will be. Not horrible, but less RPG than I expected. I tought the combat will look more like Baldur’s Gate 3 and it looks like Shadow of Mordor or some other action game. Lame. 😢
