I think that it was good that Sean didn't hear Goku's japanese voice early on. This forced him to make goku his own character and that is EXACTLY why he works so well in the english dub. English goku isn't trying to be the japanese one, it's simply english goku. I absolutely still think that sean plays goku the best, the deeper voice simply fits better

June Port Bridge Well that's the point in him creating his own Goku. He MADE Goku. I don't enjoy the japanese Goku and his personality has only been intensified in DBS to be even more egoistic and stupid, which i hope Sean changes. People enjoy the somewhat more modest, somewhat less stupid, more common hero version of Goku that Sean created, and i do too. That of course, doesn't mean i don't understand you preferring the Japanese one. It is what it is.

To be fair. I heard that at the beginning Sean was literally told to essentially copy the Canadian voice. Since then he has made Goku his own character, but he didn't start off like that.

While I think Sean does the best English adult voice of Goku, after I've been watching Super I realize, English Goku is way too serious. Goku is way more naive and innocent in the Japanese dub, and considering that is the original voice, it's how I think Goku should sound.

Why not? Is it because most people like Dragon Ball Z/GT for screaming, explosions, and edgy machoness? I watched Dragon Ball before I watched Z. That's the Goku I got to know. I just feel like Sean Schemmel's Goku sounds like to much of a do-gooder. His stupidy in English is more of a flaw as opposed to in Japanese where it is a comedic relief. Dragon Ball isn't supposed to be seriousness all the time.

I prefer the English dub of Roshi, Krillen, Vegeta, Picollo and many others. But Goku and Gohan just grew on me for the Japanese version, it annoyed me at first but I learned to love the authenticity of it, idk its hard to describe.

Even Schemmel respects Nozawa and has stated this in interviews multiple times. You can have your preference as to what you like better but you should still respect the original, especially if your favored voice actor also respects them ;)
