I do believe the replenishment of this army would always be to full because the game counts the amount of troops and not % health lost. since you only have roughly 200 dragon ogres they will almost always be replenished when fighting large unit armies.

that's only true if you only lose troops from one or two units. If he lost 90% of his DO models the amount of replen wouldn't be as much because more than 17% would have to be replaced. the % of replen is determined by the amount of casualties you inflict on your opponent + some other factors depending on the faction you're fighting.

I find armored chaos trolls perform better as the meat of kholek's army. They are a good matchup against most of what you fight, they are way tankier (resistances and regen), and the shaggoths can mop up any large units that could cause them trouble. Great vid, legend.

Interesting; I'll try that. You have basically an unlimited supply of trolls and marauders so finding a good use for them is nice.

Trolls are nice but be very careful about forces with speed or strong artillery. I had a troll force that just could not get close to a Cathay army because of their rocket nonsense combined with horsies for blocking, and the trolls would just die before they could get to the squishy bits. Same army also suffered a lot against VCount due to leadership modifiers. One of those good but not quite great mid game stacks, IMO.

Hey Legend, if you are looking for techs that buff specific troops or buildings there is a searchbox in the bottom left of the tech tree. Just type "Dragon Orge" and every tech, that buffs dragon orgres or dragon orgre shaggoths will be highlighted.

Regular dragon ogres are actually good in a blob. Damage spreads out in addition to AOE buffs and heals. Great in sieges, great anti large and can gobble up infantry when using their bound ability

I think that monstrous infantry and monstrous cavalry are a strategic advantage, while a single entity is a tactical advantage; a single entity will need to heal, but medium-sized monsters are immediately ready to fight.

As long as you don't lose entities, they're super good for campaigns. I play on small scale (I have a potato laptop that can't run anything bigger) and it's insane how strong monstrous infantry and monstrous cavalry are on that scale.

The best shaggoth complimentary unit I have found is manticores, but you have to really lean into them with pastures and the sorcerer ability.

I think if you'd put the regular DO's on a locked control group + attack order they wouldntve gotten stuck as much. selecting them in 3's and setting them onto random units withinthe blob is also a great way to get your cav stuck + killed, Ive found

Been playing around a lot with WoC army combos, so far I really like the Shaggoths but am trying to find another good allied SEM to complement them, then normally have a few heroes and fill out the army with Shaneshi knights for picking off the edges. Tried using mammoths which were not bad but they take a lot of damage for only healing with nurgle heroes.

In general, the game mechanics made doom stacking the best way to build armies. "Balanced" armies just did not perform well/on par. For the Warriors of Chaos in particular, a Shaggoth doomstack was basically the only viable option.

Heralds has a limit of gifted units you can put in your armies and since Shaggoths are one of the undivided gifted units you can only have like 6 or 5 can't remember, and Belakor doesn't have a limit on gifted units for each army

You can a full shaggoth spam with any warriors of chaos faction, you can only recruit 6 into an individual army. However nothing stops the player from transferring shaggoths from another army, into kholek's army.
