if any of you did not ever get a chance to play this on the ps1, you need to get this game it has a great story to it the story is really good and enjoyable one a true DQ fan would understand what i am saying the remake look so good ..very emotional for me to see the new grafx because this is 2nd to DQ8 for me,this DQ 7 is so good ,i just started playing it on my PS1 after so many year,yes i have had it since it first came out,

Guess I'm going to have to buy a 3DS now. I really like how the battle system is a good middle ground between the classic but speedy first-person style and the more modern team animation style. I was actually talking to a friend about something like this ~a month ago except we weren't talking about DQ7 for the 3DS but DQ8 for the Vita. I know the Vita isn't selling too well, but a DQ game would help the Vita fly off the shelves in Japan.

I forgot this was one of the ones with a "God" instead of "Goddess". Why is it we always see "God" (7 and 9) when he's in a game, but we never get to meet the "Goddess"? Maybe Toriyama has never been able to design one they liked? Outside of monsters (and even then sometimes) Toriyama doesn't have a whole lot of variations in his character designs. You could probably take any human/humanoid character he's designed and select a random part of the character and find another character (or several) with the same design to that feature.

Btw DQ7 is my favorite Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest is one of my favorite series, I just want to meet the Goddess for once. Also, I love Toriyama's artstyle, this is just a pattern I've noticed.

I had already known about this remake coming over States-wise for some time now but I hadn't actually watched much footage for it, just to save the wonderment of all the changes made since the original. I haven't felt such happiness from a trailer in what feels like over a decade. This was such a trip for me, I used to watch my brother play the original game all the time and everything just came rushing back like a wave, not so much unlike the _resulting_ wave of man tears I held back. Coming from a Dragon Quest newbie like myself, I think it says a lot that a small-scale remake such as this has trumped all other releases I care about this year, it's just such a special game to me. Can't wait! Dragon Quest fans, rejoice!

***** Oh man, if you love the spin-offs, you'll feel right at home with 7 and 8. Though, as cool as it is to get a proper handheld release of 8, I'd recommend just getting the original version of it if you can, it's surprisingly cheaper anyway. As for 7, I can't think of a better portable JRPG if I tried.

+LordHEF definitely. we've been begging for them to bring dq over here and they have never listened and I found it weird that when they did decide to release it over to the states they used dq heroes not a actual main series game. I actually think that they used dq heroes as a test run to see if people would be willing to buy a spin off to show support. I read a lot of comments saying how people wouldn't buy the spin off just because it wasn't the main series but I honestly don't care whether one of my favorite games gets a spin off or not because if they get a spin off it just means more games to play with either my favorite characters or it means I get to experience new stories and game play so it's all good lol

Oh dang, the fighting system actually looks... good in this one! Very fast paced, and I love the attacks. There's just nothing like firing wolves and stampeding sheep at your opponents!

The battle sequence with everyone together is how you can call. The split between DQ9 and the earlier games. In the first bunch the DQ characters would have boxes that would stay together at the bottom. In a way it's trying to keep the character's visibly onscreen while keeping that aspect....sorry.

It might not release in Antarctica, there are some rumors though, saying they will ship it there but its yet to be announced not much has been announced for Europe and NA so you'll have to wait your turn...

I have played the PS1 version before. Just completed the quest in Dharma Temple. It's a very great game. The 3DS one looks really cool. I'm glad Japan made a new magnificent rework on it. :)

They're saying that the game is getting a graphical overhaul. Dragon Quest VII on the Playstation was done in a similar style to the remakes of Dragon Quest IV-VI on the DS.

My 1st DQ game ever. So many memories :') Still have the best and most memorable story than 8, 4, 5, 6 and 9 IMO (this is the order I played DQ games) oh my childhood! Glad they port it to 3DS!

Meaning they are not the same as two coats of paint. It is a full remake of the original Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest VII for the Playstation rather than just a port with enhanced graphics.

ya notice they still use sounds from the original version. The 3DS version could certainly have better sound effects, but they want to maintain the nostalgia of the original game, which is why the graphics still maintain a similar look of the original, its improved, but still maitains the original look and feel.

in the remake of DQ7 you can change ur outfits and that is awsome and i love how you can see your characters outfit in battle now,it goes away from older RPGs DQ 1 2 3 4 5 6 and lets you change your outfit instead of never enjoying that new armor of helmet you found in that chest,this is why i like DQ9 and to take an older game and redo it,this is what fans of DQ love about the newer DQ games,we finally get the DQ7 fans want in a DQ game,

You should play 4, 5, and 6 on the DS, they're really good remakes. 8 was never on DS, it's only on PS2, so definitely get that one too if you have a PS2. My personal favorite in the series is a tie between 3 and 8.

Relax, it was released in Japan this year and the fourth game on DS was released in Japan a year before it was localised in the West. This game will definitely come Nintendo won't miss the opportunity to gain their install base in the West. They need it especially in Europe as the install base over there is 1 million behind the install base for DS after two years on the market.

Dragon Quest 7 is the longest story of the entire series, I would suggest trying a easier game for your first Quest , like Dragon Quest 4 or 5 on the DS.

at the time this game first came out you could not tell if grafx we dated or not in 2001,it was PS1 not xbox 360 or PS3,so many year ago and i still own this game ,trust me when i say ...dragon warrior 7 on the PS! has aged a hell of alot better than most RPGs that came out for the PS1 it even looks better than alot of action games for that system,in 2001 fans of dragon quest got the 7th DQ game and it was awsome because i was one of thoughs people this game has never disappointed me never will

It's not the size of the population that matters, what matters is the number of ppl that will make a purchase, like 80% of the sales of DQ games are from Japan. Take DQ9 for example, Units of DQ9 sold as of late 2011, Japan: 48.5millions US: 2.7millions Europe & Asia: 1.6millions Rest of the world: 4.2millions I am not saying they will not localize VIIremake, but don't be surprised if they don't.

gamerprince1999 what happened to FF , when it first started the sprites were similar to those in DQ and Ultima . now, I cant even play FF.I went to a launch event, tried a demo, did not know that to do. too may buttons. at least DQ is still playable for me and to a lesser extent Ultima.

It's more likely since DQ8 was on the PS2 so Sony may have the rights for it. Then again, DQ7 was on the PS1 and look at it now. But totally agree, a HD remake would be awesome!!!
