Which is why your next playthrough in NG+ should be in offline mode, so your pawn (i.e. you) can become the Arisen and free your last character from the mantle of Godhood.

overall, I thought this game was worth every penny, including the expansion. but there is one small downside. need a bigger world to explore. when I looked at the world map for the first time, I went, cool. I got all these places to explore and maybe a lot more to do but 3 or 4 hours later and I went from one end of the map to the other, I realized it was a small world after all. the goblin killing got boring really quick. don't get me wrong, I love this game, just hope if Capcom makes a 2nd one, have more places to explore. take a page from the Elder Scrolls...make a huge world to explore. more caves and forts, dungeons, etc. and please, more dragons. its call dragon's dogma...need more dragons.

I felt bad for the seneschal (name withheld) in this. He gets to go on suffering for a long, long time until another Arisen takes on the mantle. Or until you reload a checkpoint. :)

I prefer this... Its pretty much means your adventure is over and live a normal life while the God finds another Arisen... Its kinda hard to know who's his equivalent in the game because the Duke is the one who sold his love one and the old man in the cave made the deal with the dragon for knowledge and the witch is the one who became god and gave her life to the Pawn.... Can someone tell me if ghey also change who the Duke is if you pick the duke and who would becone if pick peace.. i got no time to redo all of the quests..

What happened to Sofiah (Selene's Arisen) is debatable as her ghost is elderly compared to seline's youthful look. It's possible that she did indeed choose peace and returned to the world, eventually dieing of old age.

@@ahmedkabbary not really i believe. after you choose peace you come back to cassardis as it is, no reset of world or time travel whatsoever in the past. you keep the experiences you've made and the people you've met but the only difference is you are no longer the Arisen.

Being 'Arisen' doesn't seem to mean anything, it doesn't seem to be a 'separate state'. Your character was simply the one who stepped forward and attacked the dragon while the others ran so you were 'chosen'. It's your 'will' that makes you special. When you choose peace another dragon is simply sent to see who will step forward and then the Dragon takes their heart to give them a goal and to test their will. You 'failed' the test because you decided to go to a life comfort.

@@RedMonikerI know this is old but your pawn becomes forfeit in the peace ending. Since you were never arisen your unique pawn never came into being. Most likely Sophia just never went on to face the dragon

Pretty much. That's why the game warns you that if you complete the wakestone quest, there's no going back.

When you think about it, that Volition/unbending will was not what brought the Arisen to them, but but bound and sealed destiny, They were practically fighting destiny for two forms of destiny itself

Yup. The game doesn't really tell you there's more. And there's so much more after the Dragon fight. New monsters, whole new area. There are also many missable quests, with different outcomes, that have affect on other quests. Even the main quests. Certain areas are even locked out if you don't complete them in time. (The manse and a huge part of Witchwood for example. I even missed the whole Witchwood in my first playthrough, haha.)

From a lore speculation, I think the Pawn gets screwed too. They get choice and humanity for whatever that may be worth but they lose their immortality and if they are one gender they suddenly have to deal with being not only another gender but with an actual physical sex change if they were the opposite of their Arisen. It's one of the reasons my Pawn and my Arisen are the exact same character model with a different hair type. It's a game but I felt bad about my pawn waking up a girl.... LOL

Really hope they give more of an explanation in dragons dogma 2 on why arisen go through these trials to become a seneschial and what the purpose of it all is and/or means Everything we go through is a trial to test the arisen to see if they are worthy or not of becoming a seneschial Also who was the first and original seneschial if there was one, who was the original dragon if the was one and who was the first arisen? There's a seneschial, an arisen, and a great dragon The seneschial is an arisen who has defeated the original seneschial so either there was a seneschial who has existed before the arisen and created a dragon to find someone to defeat him for an unknown purpose or somehow someone became a seneschial and again created a dragon to find an arisen The great dragons are also arisen who have face the seneschial but were defeated by the seneschial in the end, grigori was apparently a pawn who became an arisen and eventually faced the last seneschial (savan) but was defeated Are all great dragons arisens who were bested by the seneschial? Or did the first seneschial make a great dragon to start the cycle of the arisen and every or most great dragons since were arisen Its really confusing...

the way i viewed it is that it was "God" who tested man in effort to stave off boredom by simply being an observer for so long over the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. that this same god created a dragon to create destruction and tragedy so as to test man's courage in the face of adversity an to find some one to be their Successor and inherit the world that they had created and if i had to guess they probably lied to the first person to be named "Arisen" an told them the cycle was endless an always needed a "seneschal" to guide and oversee it an said Seneschal probably came to the same conclusion that its boring being an observer so they created a new dragon and even spun this tale about how the brave and valiant arisen with the aid of his pawns set fourth an slayed the mighty an fearsome dragon to bring peace to the world an gradually generations over time kept this legend alive and so wherever an whenever the Dragon would appear a chosen "arisen" would follow closely behind an be the people's salvation and their beacon of hope.

It is confusing. I am with you. It is just like they used theories about chicken and eggs. Chicken and eggs are like cycles. So was Seneschal, dragons, and arisens. They never showed who was the original Seneschal and original dragon. They never even show who was the very first arisen. We all know that the arisen becomes a dragon when an arisen loses against Seneschal. Seneschal needs to beat an arisen to create another dragon. An arisen who beats Seneschal automatically becomes Seneschal.

I'm betting you got the answer already, but after you defeat the dragon-if you choose to fight him-you have to return to the Duke's castle and enter his study. That will lead to the chain of events that will lead you to the true ending and this boss.

Easter Eggs are 1. Sword in the stone by golem is reference to king aurther 2. Full gears for Guts and Griffith in anime Berserk 3. Can create character for main and main pawn that looks like characters from the Conan The Barbarian and Conan The Destroyer. Game has those characters gears too. 4. Thou shall not past/cast yell from enemies, reference LOTR 5. Cyclops that looks like elephants is poking fun at ancient people who saw elephant skulls and thought they were cyclops.

yea it s easy to think you did fail because there is nothing to do after the choice, but I will say it s not failing and the reason they gave you a restart menu is ''because there is nothing to do after the choice'' you can get these dead ends even before here so you loose a lot of gameplay. It s probably a vice decision from developers perspective.

I am most grateful for the Godsbane. Because, as an immortal, it would all be so maddening. Living forever, watching the world die, slaying one Arisen after the next... What's the point? If I were to become the Senechal, I'd use the Godsbane with no hesitation. I know it may seem cowardly, but I'd rather be a coward than mad God. Even the strongest warrior with the strongest will have their limits. Even gods fall.

Yes.. But actually no. You aren't forced to go thru one ending since they've made multiple ones as you know but ofcourse, as for the developer of the game, it needs to have a cohesive conclusion. Think about it, what's next for your character after being a normal person again?

Thexenowolf They somewhat did do that. If you die during the fight with seneschal, you will fall and reincarnate as the wyrm. See the Servitude ending.
