00:05 - Dear gosh you had me so worried when you started this video. So glad it was good news; congratulations to you! An I'm unsurprised that Dragonair proved difficult. I've used one before in a Nuzlocke and was surprised by how... mediocre it was. Not enough Attack or Speed to compensate for it's slight frailness and the lack of dragon move options leaves it without the bonus of STAB. 7:35 - Also, always love the recurring jokes you make about certain NPCs. They've really flourished into characters of their own. If you ever get more character artworks made, some of the distinct NPCs you've effectively created through these solo challenges would be awesome.

Dragonair is literally my favorite pokemon. Remember my first playthrough getting this Dratini and grinding it to evolve. Thinking the next evo would be an awesome super dragon snake thing then getting Derpnight.

The big difference in design between Dragonair and Dragonite makes me think there was a different evolution intended for Dragonair but it got dropped when they cut back on pokemon for gen 1.

congrats on your engagement! I've used dragonaire (not dragonite) on teams twice in gen 3 actually, and I've found that it's got a half decent niche with it's special coverage. Whilst it's none too special having access to surf, thunderbolt, icebeam in gen one, it's a little special in gen 3 where move sets are a little more limited

That would be a really fun idea. The rom is already hacked anyhow by sidestepping Surge's RNG puzzle. I'm sure adding in Professor Oak's fight wouldn't be too difficult.

If he doesn't have the previous mons any more, since he recorded their level, he could recreate them via cheats and test it on emulator for just that one instance. There are workarounds, methinks.

Congrats on the engagement! That's awesome! That Dratini plush is ridiculously cute! Dragonair is such a cool Pokémon. I always wanted to use it in a playthrough and not evolve it because I like it more than Dragonite, but yeah... it struggles to keep up with fully evolved team members. I think they should've switched its Attack and Special to suit its learnset better (plus it just LOOKS like a special attacker), then keep Dragonite's stats as is. It would have a better chance.

Glad to see one of my top three favorite Pokemon (Dragonair, Ninetales, and Espeon) being featured in your videos! Was kind of sad that you evolved it at the end though. To me, Dragonair is glorious enough on its own and doesn't need to evolve. I often use it in playthroughs and don't evolve it, even though it can be a struggle to use sometimes. I just love it too much. ;~; I did want to see more consistency tests with it, but I can understand saving it for the first and final forms - middle forms are just so often neglected anyway, so seeing it featured here was enough.

The testing and more throughout approach has been something I’ve debated. Is it just for versus videos or does it have a place in solo videos. During production on this video I decided that I would do it only in versus videos, but I’ve changed my mind about that. The main reason to not test is time. Production takes forever and more time for each Pokémon means less content released. It’s a tough thing to balance.

Congrats on the evolution! As a kid, after dinosaurs, drawing pokemon by heart was my favorite thing. Dragonair actually was one of the hardest ones though, because I could never remember where its pearls are. I usually missed the one on the neck, but I have drawings with single or no tail pearls lying around too. This line's design progression honestly confuses me. BUT, Dragonair is still the most beautiful of the three. In the anime (first seen in the Power of One short iirc) it actually can grow out the small cupid wings to full size and fly with them. Blew my mind when I first saw it and they actually did it again later so it wasn't just a one off thing.

Doing a run a solo run with dragonair is kind of a pain. It has an okay stats, but nothing to be proud of, and that lack of stab moves, as if all these are there to remind you how good is dragonite. But you managed to do that run, and the elegant dragon is probably thanking you.👏 And congrats on you engagement🎉.
