Draining My Energy & Chemotherapy Removal | Cancer & Vlogmas DAY 9

Just a curiosity question. When my husband was having chemotherapy he was told to be very careful where he went because of his immune system being compromised, and because of the high risk of catching Covid, does it not worry you going out to such busy places while you are still under treatment, and not even taking any precautions. Not judging just asking a genuine question from our own experiences.

When I had treatment my oncology team said the same. I wasn't even allowed to get my nails done, as the risk of infection is heightened. I remember one time I just wanted to feel normal and walk around the mall, and ended up on the Onc ward with neutropenia the next night.. EDIT - Mine developed both times in the days after CBC were done (CBC day before Chemo) so unfortunately having bloods checked made no difference, and mine was weekly not fortnightly like Tiffs.

I have CLL myself which is one of the blood cancers, not under treatment as it’s a watch and wait thing, but even so our system is compromised and have to be careful.

They will be able to tell from bloods if she is neutropenic and therefore at greater risk of infections due to immune suppression. Different chemotherapy’s may affect immunity more than others and her team would advise.

Dear Tiffany, I know exactly how you feel regarding Baxter.. I have my own Baxter with my chemo treatments, and I have to go back to the cancer center after two days to have it removed.. those two extra days with it is awful, I never feel myself, I actually feel sicker than I probably am, and it always makes me feel a sense of doom.. I think it’s much more mental in that, even after treatment, we are connected to cancer in such a visible way. With me, after I get my Baxter removed, I can make myself forget and move on to recovering from treatment, kind of like the out of sight out of mind. Baxter is just another, very visible reminder of our having cancer. 😢. I, like you, always feel so much better once it’s removed. 💕

Hi! Tiffany, I dunno whether you will notice this comment or not but I am quite concerned regarding your health. I am no expert on this but, I have been reading quite a few articles & books on Cancer & watched videos too. Everyone says or has written that Cancer feeds on Sugar! Whenever you eat unhealthy stuff it makes me worry. Experts & Doctors recommend not eating sausages, red meat, processed foods, canned foods, tomato ketchup, sugar, aerated drinks, bakery etc. They say alkaline diet is very effective & good for your health & body! Your good self is a Doctor by profession & an expert so please do consider. Also, do some good research on this subject! Just a caring subscriber of yours! I have watched your videos one by one & have noticed that you are lost in your thoughts & worried these days so as your ardent follower also I feel your pain which shows in your videos. Keep faith on the almighty & eat healthy! Take care.. ❤️

I lost my mom to cancer 51 years ago today 😢…I was 19 & in my first year of university. When I see you with your mom it makes my heart so happy 🥰. I worked for years in helping hospitals develop their cancer programs & then working as a coordinator for investigational cancer studies…. I think she mentioned while taking her drugs dexamethasone that is a corticosteroid (a cortisone like steroid). All corticosteroids tend to cause so called "moon face" that is puffiness in the face. When she is able to stop that medicine (usually slowly reducing the dose), her face will with time come back to normal.

My husband had a moon face but soon went back to normal when he finished treatment…also when chemotherapy was done they took him straight off his steroids no weaning off and he was quite poorly for a while worse than when he was on the chemotherapy but when we questioned it they said they had to do it so he went cold turkey. I don’t want to scare you because it might be different for different chemo’s just mentioned it in case it happens they say it’s normal to feel that way.he was on one steroid tablet a day but the day of chemotherapy he had to take a lot more so maybe that’s why it was such a shock to his system.

You havnt lost a strand of hair , my daughter in law lost hers within 10 days of starting and it took 2 years to grow back to normal . I have been there having treatment for cancer my self so not being horrible just trying to help

Wear masks if you are going into crowds or stores- it’s really sad to see someone who is stage 4 and immuno compromised just taking such risks- why bother having treatment if you just are going to expose yourself to germs- if you get sick it’s like the chemo has been pointless!
