Tbh Nicki is the only thing keeping female rap alive. She kick started female rap back in the days and she might have to revive it again. And if you look at sales she’s the only female rapper selling more than 200k first week and a sold out world tour (something Doja cat couldn’t even do and they were claiming she was going to replace Nicki)

Most of them are one dimensional because the writers themselves are one dimensional. Most of them are hood rappers that grew up wanting success in hustling and grinding mentality of not giving a damn about anything else. And now they have it. And now they don't gaf about anything else. So what can they say besides the same shit? At least, I'd appreciate an evolution in their music, but most rappers are content with doing the same things - those used to be the usual boom bap beats, now it's trap beats.

The only difference I would say for Nicki.. before the new fem rap era the industry purposely tried to take her down and downplay her accomplishments. Something not done towards drake. If anyone really remember... nicki spoke to her fans but she was quiet. They pushed remy to do a diss and nicki was them forced to respond. N when she did she was criticized. Motorsport ppl purposely was quiet on her allowing a story to generate. Cardi threw a shoe and ppl gave cardi praise KNOWING it was over a fake tweet. Nicki got tired. Nicki never even mentioned her #s until they tried to compare her and down play her for a karaoke rapper. Now she's speaking out. The industry did the that. N ppl hate on her for it. But if anyone thinks she or her attitude is different from a beyonce or Rihanna is crazy. Noone is trying them and saying how they don't work with new rnb pop singers. It's only a problem when it's nicki

Don’t forget the part where multiple female rappers had a show and the theme was “Nicki Minaj funeral” and they had her picture up there and everything. Nicki complimented Cardi on Motorsport but Cardi took it as an insult. Instead of apologising once she found out, she dragged it. Now both of them have been beefing for 6 years, and many female rappers united against her. It's so funny how people try so hard to take her down and they all fail.

One line that Drake said in Family Matters somewhat bothered me: "Always Rapping like you bout to get the slaves freed". A very out of touch line, especially since a large chunk of Hip-Hop (pretty much the standard) is about personal expression and social issues, just go to The Roots, NWA, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, the list goes on (I got a lot of dumb replies from people saying “there’s context to the line”… THE LINE IS STILL DUMB. The rest doesn’t help it. I’m tired of Aubrey’s Angels coming to his side and no where did I specify I hated Drake’s music, so don’t try that argument. But I guess it’s so easy to be someone’s Angel who has a history of ruining potentials with his OVO sweatshop and talking to minors as a grown man).

Hard agree, that was weird. Specially since Drake is, despite what Rick Ross calls him, a black man from a nation that was colonized by white Europeans. It changed from country to country, but it isn't insane to say that, racially, Drake has experienced similar trauma than every other black person in the continent, from Alaska to Patagonia. Just like how it was, honestly, weird for Kendrick, who is most definetely pro-black, to go at Drake with bars that can be interpreted as colorism attacks.

Ehhhh...Yes and No. I agree because it's becoming more and more obvious that the quality and subject matter is very drawn out at this point. They've said all they've had to say and won't go to any new depths as they settle into their ways of life at these ages of 37 (Turning 38) & Nicki Being 40. However, I can't fully agree because...while it may be true, what's going to be done about it? Who's going to be the ones to take the Batons out of their hands?? Everybody who could be the guy or girl is almost in their mid 30s Or not big ENOUGH.

Aht aht Nicki writes her own raps now her antics….. are crazy sometimes but separate the art from the artist, she’s the most streamed female rapper and is currently on a sold out tour… people is seeing and listening to her. She can’t help who she is… these mediocre so called “rappers” will never out shine Nicki’s legacy.

Let's be very honest. When you hear the name 'Drake', the first songs that pop into an average person head goes from 'Hotline Bling', 'One Dance' or maybe 'God's Plan'. Those songs are more pop than rap any day. If a person is a rapper then their most common knowledge songs should be rap songs. Like on the topic of Nikki, at least her commonly known songs are actually rap. Though not supporting her, just stating a fact.

She's now has 2nd highest grossing hip hop tour of all time behind Drake. She's performing about 40 songs and about 7/8 of those are pop records. Her set is centered around hip hop songs. Nearly 20K people know them in those arena,s day in day out. You should maybe attend one of her shows to see and know what I'm talking about. Their market value is so lucrative that even beefing with them increases their opposition's record sales. Nicki Minaj is currently on her 44th sold-out arena show for her tour. How is that overstaying her welcome?? She just had a Number One Album late last year that is doing big numbers. She pens her own lyrics and did the grind from mixtapes to small shows coming up. No, she earned her top spot, and based on her historic tour ticket sales, she's still in demand. I see all age ranges and races at her show. That's called longevity. And what's wrong with that? @Amandarr24 Ай бұрын
I partially agree....Drake definitely overstayed his welcome and his staying relevant by riding new artists waves and featuring on their songs, in which I think those features he gives them out for free as a gesture of goodwill. Now when it comes to Nicki, I disagree....The rap game and Industry exec's can't stand the fact that they need Nicki Minaj and her fans to support these rap girls. All of these girls, literally all of them rap about their private parts and and how good it is. When they try to venture out and try other genre's it doesn't work out in their favour. Throwing ass on stage is the only way they make money and it's coming to an end and fan's are not really interested. Their music sells only because they disrespect Nicki and she responds. We've seen it with Megan thee stallion and cardi b. Doja cat I honestly don't consider her a rapper, she's more successful in pop music and she knows it. Her fans could care less about rap Doja. They try and push her into rap to break records so that they can use her to dethrone Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj is a huge part of female rap and her presence is needed whether people like it or not! And she still manages to make good pure rap music because her pen speaks for itself, the only time she needs help is when writing her hooks or chorus in some of her songs as we see in the writing credits. Otherwise Nicki Minaj is needed in female rap because every year a new industry plant is introduced to compete with Nicki.

They didn't overstay because they were still applying pressure or because they're doing anything groundbreaking, matter of fact they're burnt out and washed up. They're still at the top of the food chain because the Record Labels fckd up the music business with streaming and questionable signings post 2016. They don't bet on artists with IT-factor that can carry the game for years, they only bank on "artists" with a buzz that'll go tomorrow until the next hot thing pops up... Let's take Cardi for example, she was blatantly shoved onto our faces to replace Nicki by the industry. They cashed on her like no other artist has ever been cashed on for a before to this day, but what did Cardi have?? Because the talent is inexistent... Drake will literally be the last rap superstar, history's repeating. When Rock peaked commercially and started to decline until its subsequent mainstream death Nickelback was the face of Rock and the genre died (in the mainstream) with them being the genres last superstars and fast forward, now we got Drake in Rap.

Listen, I love Kendrick but I don't think he can, will or should carry the game atp. Yes he's talent, in form and an innovator to this day but he's not hungry... He had his time to carry the game at one point, and he did, he rose the bar high and revived lyrical rap for a while, but right now the game needs some younger that's hungry to show what they can offer besides being and innovator and having the IT factor

@@jameslight4391 I don't think Kendrick can carry it. For you to 'carry' a genre, you need to release more frequently than Kdot does. Drake has been able to carry for this long because he puts out more music and has more features. I really don't think Kendrick will compromise his artistry in order to fill Drake's position in the industry. From the young male rappers, I don't really see anyone being able to achieve what Drake has. I think that Nicki's replacement has already arrived in Doja Cat.

And they're terrified- that's why they stay up under these younger artists. Sidenote: Funny as well how pedo and sex crimes plague the both of them. I definitely feel like lyrics and skillset ...kendrick trumps drake and he knows it..and remy ma on some real grimy rap battle BARS trumps nicki -and she KNOWS it. That's why she enlisted drake AND Wayne to assist in her clapback to shether. Nicki can't stand toe to toe with remy in a real street battle. All them gimmicks AINT gon cut it. If they both had been consistently dropping music there wouldn't have been a QUESTION about the king and queen of Rap. Period. Nicki can't outrap remy OR pap in a street battle #sorrynotsorry

It makes me wonder, if these two have overstayed their welcome and the people are tired of them, if Drake and Minaj decide to retire tomorrow, who will be the new superstars of this new generation? There are many younger female artists and male artists who want to be on the top or reaching for that top but aren't either lyrically, vocally, or skillfully there.

The thing about Nicki is she's actually very talented and as far as rapping is the female equivalent we have to Kendrick where they can both do voice changes, cadence changes and are nice to listen to because the way they rap is never boring. Too bad that due to likely some very internalized misogyny and her personality and disposition, Nicki has become overly sensitive, protective, territorial and unhinged especially when it comes to other female rappers. And it's really the industry's fault, in the time she came up, where there did seem to be only one spot open for a female rapper at a time, and that to come up, you have to replace the one in that spot. It also doesn't help the personal choices she's made with who she partnered with, and especially the way she weaponises her fan base to do the fighting for her. Nicki was an underappreciated underdog when she was showcasing her genius to us, but now she has turned into her own worst enemy.

The problem is Drake and Nicki still rapping like they still in their early 20’s. The difference is Kendrick and J Cole clearly show growth in their music through the years. Nicki is 41 and Drake is pushing 40. But my biggest problem is how drake keeps trying to act like he freshly turned 21. They keep forgetting that they ain’t any of these new and younger rappers. If the rap girls actually work hard for it and actually get it out the mud like Nicki did they could come close to to what Nicki has, the same conversation about who is this generation's Michael Jackson will be had about who's the next generation's Nicki when it comes to female rap (that's if it doesn't die once Nicki actually retires for real) cause they tried with the whole "Cardi's the New Nicki" "Meg's the New Nicki" "Doja Cat's the New Nicki" they always do this when a new girl starts popping especially when their popularity is some what in close proximity to Nicki. If JT plays her cards rigth she just might be next and possibly be number 3 or 4 but she will have to surpass people like Meg, Missy, iggy and Cardi, cause nobody knocking Nicki off the Number one spot maybe when she's no longer alive but still would be a tough task to do.
