My best friend as a kid and young adult told me about drama time while I was on a several year break from wow. He and I had, as poor kids, played private server since tbc and retail here and there but I hadn't been on in ages and had missed the birth of twitch and this channel. I was busy with life so I never took him up on his suggestion that I'd love this show. He tried to get me to come back a few more times but I never did. Then he stopped asking, he had been burnt by wod and after the success of legion his guild fell apart on bfa Launch. He stopped playing right when I started again. I tried to get him to come back so we could finally have a go at it like old times, but his life was getting to be a mess and he was mad at the direction of the game. He died. 29 years old. I won't explain how but it was sad. There I found myself wanting to chat with him every time I learned something new about the game, but he wasn't there. It kind of hurts to play sometimes since this was our thing growing up but it's how I connect with his memory now. But one day I stumbled on drama time and the name popped in memory. This was the show he tried to get me to watch with him when I wasn't playing, when we didn't talk much, the one he had said I'd love, the one I totally blew off. He was right. I do love it and I regret not bonding with him over it. I burnt thru the entire backlog of episodes trying to find some place of Peace or connection after he died. So now I listen to the show like it's church. With him in my head every time. Thanks for the sermon preacher..

I didn’t have this exact scenario, but I came back to WOW right when BFA came out. I rejoined a group that I had played with when I stopped playing in MOP. It had been 5 years, and I was our raid leader during ICC. I forgot how awful these guys made me feel. I just wanted to play the game. Constantly calling me out in disc over my healing, not offering any constructive criticism, just telling me I’m crap when I really wasn’t. They ruined Holy Priest for me, which was honestly my favorite spec/class. One of our main healers suddenly quit the game, then I was suddenly in charge of recruitment for 8.2 Eternal Palace. I couldn’t find anyone. And when I did, just like this guy, it got shot down. The main thing they wanted was a warrior. I found a great arms warrior and he came to a couple of raids but didn’t like the atmosphere and left. Just like this guy, they blamed me. I was done. I server/faction changed and switched from holy priest to my WOD boosted Ele Shaman that I never played because I had quit right before WOD. My goal was to find a guild where I can play and enjoy every aspect of the game I wanted to play and occasionally raid. I joined a guild where I got that and more. I’m not a core raider but they let me come on their alt heroic runs, and sometimes their main runs when my schedule allows. They are all chill. It’s a fun raid atmosphere. They never give me grief over my crap DPS (they are WAY better geared than me) and they love to help where they can. They helped me get AOTC in EP and now Ny’alotha. Just remember, you don’t owe anyone anything in this game. You pay the subscription, you don’t answer to anyone. The only person you answer to is yourself to make sure you have fun. I’m SO glad I made the change that I did. I started playing a couple months before BC up until middle of MOP and I have to say this is some of the most fun I’ve had in the game since Wrath and ICC.

I want to ask one question. Firstly I watch "Drama time" for about a year. So my question is: Why people are so stupid? I mean people stay in guilds which treat them like shit and do nothing for them, while they do everything for the guild. And they just stay in guilds.... Some stories are so stupid and naive.
@Catjamfan4 жыл бұрын
Cause some people are either drones, or too nice. Im guilty of it too - wasting a year on trying to help a guild, made them progress raidwise, multitasked during raids to make up for majority being boosted (Without a thanks and to a point where they are expecting to get carried), tried to make people individualized guides to improve their roles.... (of course majority didnt even bother to try.) and get disrespect and got ignore back once I actually stood up. We got a shitty attituded guy into the guild and he openly hurled insults at me (For killing a horde in Boralus... warmode... once.... - he thought I "had something to prove" and "tried to get a longer peen" (as a female, apparently I need one) ) We also had one guy who did not follow logic and was rude to me during raids while I was trying to lead and make the best of the gear that dropped - to give it to those it would benifit most. Aka not the one who stands in fire, does least dps with good gear (rng blessed) and is always one of those getting carried. But apparently thats BLASPHEMY! And apparently it was more important to keep these two assholes than to keep Me - officer who had done everything for over a year, their top tank, top healer, and two top DPS as my bf was on my side. The GM even had the immaturity to not give me an answer when I tried to ask him "Why is it so important to keep these" Another friend there left them too, he was also a top player. Their other high dps also left since their progress plummeted once we were out.

@@Catjamfan Sad to hear! It's the same thing that happens in abusive relationships, essentially. It's why spousal abuse victims stay with their abuser. They think they can't do better. They think it'll work out. They think they'll have to give up their friends or the only life they've known if they leave. It's the same thing that's happened with WoW players as of late. Abusive Relationship, and they stay. I learned about the behavior from my first girlfriend. Lots of manipulation, gaslighting, and toxicity aimed at me. Not that I was a saint either, but after having that relationship finally end and being angry about it for two years... I got over it. I had someone else emotionally and psychologically put me back together. They walked me through the process and were there for me when I needed them, and stepped out of my life during the times I didn't need them so I could learn to stand on my two feet again. Since that point, I no longer let anyone walk all over me. Since that point, I recognize all the signs of that abusive relationship and call people out on it. Even on the internet. I'm still "overly nice" and try to help everyone, but if you look at me sideways like I'm some sort of obstacle or enemy... we're done. If you push further than that, you get told off. Push even farther, and I go out of my way to destroy your whole life. I don't tolerate the nonsense anymore, and I give people PLENTY of chances to stop being psycho/sociopaths/children. If you can't stop that, then you get to learn a harsh lesson about the world. Namely, there are people in it who won't tolerate your nonsense and will destroy everything you are and everything you have so that you can finally learn the harsh lesson that even YOU can be knocked down a peg. So, I don't stay with Guilds that are toxic anymore. I only help people when they ask me to help (I NEVER offer help anymore). I keep everything screenshotted or in writing as proof. Many people in guilds need someone to crap on in order to feel good about themselves because their lives are trash. They will never amount to anything. They will never accomplish anything. They lack drive, ambition, and intelligence to be anything more than what they are. So, they have to kick others down in order to feel higher than their station. NOBODY should tolerate that. I leave when I don't fit in. I leave when I think a Guild is stupid. I leave when I think relationships or people are stupid. I don't have enough time on this planet to deal with people's insecurities and psychological issues. Get a therapist if you need one, stop being a jerk to others.

On the 2nd story, everyone was screaming LEAVE and whilst its pretty obvious he should have left. Its pretty understandable why he didnt. Simple, cut costs fallacy He had put MONTHS of hard work almost every day into this guild, working nonstop to make it the best guild he could. Plus with his discussions with Jimbob about their "vision" for the guild, he was clearly way too invested overall. Leaving would mean loosing ALL of that. Basically, cut the guy a little slack, he was clearly not thinking straight and if you had gone through the same shit, youd do the same as him.

I never got trolled on his level, but I was in a guild that effectively made me do all the work, be it recruiting, dealing with complaints, and raid leading. I also had an afk guild leader who liked to come in and make decisions for us and leave. When you've put in months and months of work into a guild trying your damned best to make it work, it feels incredibly hard to just walk away from it. Eventually I did leave because it was just way too much and I was feeling physically sick every time raid days rolled around. Cut this author some slack, it's not his fault.
