I use to use Whatnot and win free stuff like crazy when it first launched. Back then I was a baseball card collector. Never got ripped off. Since the launch of Drip, it is easy to win giveaways when most of the Rip & Ship sellers only have 20 or fewer on stream. I do buy as well from those who I watch as long as it's a fair price. For both my protection and others I always screen record the giveaways and the pack openings that I buy into. I recommend using that feature on your phone for all seller platforms.

There is a streamer who hired on a bunch of other streamers for his company and didn't pay them for the product they contributed for his shows. He owes them 10k$+ dollars and at the same time he was cheating his entire community out of a Moonbreon bounty by not running the wheel with all the entries. I spoke to one of the streamers that worked for him who was blatantly calling him out on their stream with all the messages saying he owed them money and had a list of all the entries for the moonbreon bounty that he ended up not running.

A ton of people were involved because the two streamers were streaming at the same time on their own seperate streams (They used to stream together), while one was calling out the other for stealing from his streamers and his community. Viewers went back and forth and the streamer who did this tried to deny all claims and said he didn't want to talk about it. That streamer has stopped streaming with his last stream on July 16th.

The streamer who worked for him showed the chat all the documentation for the product he contributed and even a message between the other streamer that he owes them, but can't pay them. He also had a list of all the entries of people (some who were also on his stream) for the Moonbreon bounty that was never ran by entries on a prize wheel. The streamer who accused him of doing this is also following up through legal actions as they worked together previously in person.

I recently bought korean pokemon packs and didn't realize that they are essentially work like $1 per pack and the bids on those packs go for upwards of $30 for 4 packs with a $4 shipping price per mystery bag of 3-4 korean packs. They charged me shipping on each individual pack but they shipped it all in 1 package so since I bought 11 I basically spent $44 on shipping alone

He’s not wrong about the bot thing. I’m a legitimate whatnot seller and have blocked thousands of these fake accounts. When I searched luckystrike’s name, I already had him blocked. It’s a nonstop battle dealing with these givy gremlins. Maybe you should do some research on them too, they are far more toxic to whatnot overall than this one guy and this one experience. I’ve been scammed by a bad seller, whatnot did nothing. Lost a $200 slab. Still think the bots and givy hoppers are way worse.

I used to love whatnot in the beginning and one day I felt a shift and didn't feel comfortable buying anymore. It makes me sad they have become like this because they were the only platform I liked doing these live auctions with. As an honest whatnot seller nearing 15,000 follows who just shipped a gem mint Erikas Invitation SAR last week pulled by a viewer who has never purchased from us and spent just $20 total- while not knowing if theyll ever buy again.. As a seller who yesterday paid out a Erikas invitation full art on card pull #3 out of 399.. killing our game dead on arrival and negging due to luck of the draw.. then shipping it that same day for said viewer who was so excited- I can definitively say the moment whatnot cracks down with a (near) 0 tolerance scam or ban policy+ enforcement, is the day ALL of our lives objectively get better. The buyers will get what's advertised and make easy satisfying purchases.. and to the sellers like us who meticulously give up personal collection 1 of's while looking for blow out specials with the intention to pass the savings to our viewers - well it will finally actually matter. Instead of like now, having to stream next to scammers who get unchecked viral marketing campaigns by advertising ridiculous 6x value prizes they never had an intention to ship nor could afford to offer legitamitely. While at the same time fraudulently sucking up the sales in the process from the unassuming.

The first email from whatnot was in response to the incident, and they said they would be investigating the incident. It takes time for them to do that. I don’t think your video had anything to do with it. We don’t know how backed up trust & safety is. Also, whatnot isn’t the only platform where issues like this happen. Drip isn’t any better, and neither is any other platform. There are scammers everywhere, including ebay and youtube. Whatnot apparently just dealt with a very high profile streamer for some scams. Can they do better and crack down harder on these streamers? Yes, and hopefully they’ll continue to improve, but bashing ONLY whatnot isn’t cool. Maybe consider looking into some other platforms as well, and making videos about digging deeper into who you’re buying from (looking at reviews, etc) before making purchases. Not to mention there are plenty of buyers who are scammers too, but that’s a whole other conversation.

I don’t think bot is an accurate description here. What he’s describing is a group of people that use discord to enter whatnot giveaways collectively. Supposedly they pool all their wins together and resell. They don’t actually use bots to enter, they physically join the stream and enter the giveaway. Even if this is was the case, whatnot sellers are completely aware these people exist, and he should of never offered the bounty on the giveaway if he wasn’t prepared to deliver his end of the bargain. I truly think he thought the box was dead, and just gaslighting his stream to make himself seem more generous than he actually is. The bottom line here is if you give your word on something, you have follow through with it otherwise you have no credibility at all. It makes me call into question all the donations he claims to make as well.

Whatnot should take the funds off the seller that is scamming the buyers. Like if there's a card iono card and the card is worth 1,500 worth. Honestly I've had nothing but the upmost positive experience with whatnot and the streamers on there for the 1 1/2 years I've participated in buying off there but I always buy with caution, participate in the chat, read reviews and talk to people that have already bought from the streamer before I actually buy from them. This guy's streams never appealed to me but I do buy from pokestewdio and like that streamer. They kinda sound the same and both are stew so i wonder If they are the same or related? I went to Whatnot a couple months ago and did not get a good feeling from most of the sellers. I have since moved to Drip and have had nothing but a great experience on that site. I have had several big hits and received every card. Whatnot administration does not care about the buyers and long term they cannot survive by allowing sellers to get screwed. Eventually the buyers will leave and not support the platform. I think all the streaming sites should start doing substantial background checks on their sellers.

I bought a sports card and the seller literally messaged me the next day they canceled the sell because they didn't get enough for the card! Whatnot has done nothing to the seller. In fact they then listed the said card on their storefront. Another way sellers do it this happened to me in early June is they simply never ship the card that they don't get the price they want for. This makes you as the buyer have to then go in ask for a refund and it doesn't count against the seller! quiet frankly I Do not know why more scammer sellers are not using Whatnot since they do nothing against sellers! In theory why wouldn't a breaker just show the card and say yep I owe the bounty get the cliental all hyped about a once in a lifetime card pull. Then after the show simply cancel the order of the one particular buyer that won the card! Or better yet just never ship the card and keep it! I have reported both the sellers that blatantly canceled my order and didn't ship my order and whatnot did- NOTHING, I got no credit and They got no punishment! I only got refunded the amount of the purchase price not the price of what the goods really were. What even worse about Whatnot doing nothing about it! Since there was not a completed transaction the buyer cannot go and leave the seller a bad review! YEP Scammer sellers COMPLETELY get away with it. At least on Ebay buyers and leave a bad review and give the next buyer a heads up the seller is scamming. Please learn from my experience.

I used to be on whatnot. Stuff like this happens a lot in the sports card community (big hit from a pack never gets shipped). The seller could’ve avoided all of this if they said the bounty wasn’t active on the giveaway, that’s what I remember sellers telling their chat in similar types of streams. It seems like this seller has a history of being shady however, that’s the main reason I’m not on the app anymore.
