The start of this video is actually a part of a longer conversation about spike in the blood sugar level. A piece of fruit with high/higher sugar content will create a spike and that is not ideal for the body. To mitigate that, Jessie is recommending that you eat nuts before or with your fruit. The nuts have higher fiber content that will in turn coat the walls of your intestines and that will slow down the absorption of the sugars, and not lead to a sudden spike in the blood glucose level. They're not saying don't eat fruits.

And she's a voice of reason in the sea of mindless keto maniacs. The very idea of fructose being just as bad as added refined sugar is just plain wrong on so many levels. Sure insulin yadda yadda, but our existence doesn't only revolve around the bloody insulin lol

@@bradyshannon8452 I understand your point of view but the text books (from college courses) contain far greater knowledge than the regular book or info provided for free on the web. Now the bad part is some knowledge is good and some is bad and not accurate. All of my text books from college cost several hundred dollars and if the student did not need that knowledge they would not be purchased. Now some courses a student can get by but all of the hard science courses need the real text book.

We are conditioned to be black and white about food. Why? Because thinking about how you eat is harder than “eat this, don’t eat that”. That is why we have this junkyard of influencers out to make a buck. The reality is no diet works in terms of healthy lifestyle. Just pay attention to what you eat and how it affects your body, exercise a bit, and sleep better. Yes, it is hard, but only because you keep making shortcuts that are not sustainable. .

You can eat whatever you want.. just be aware what pleasure comes with what cost. It would be best for your health to avoid sweets, fruits, high carb food completely. If you struggle to do that, her hacks can help. But don't think the big amount of sugar is harmless with those hacks. It's just less harmful. If you want to have even less of all the health problems everyone is getting nowadays, continue fighting your addiction for sugar.
@rosembermorales1995
@rosembermorales1995 Ай бұрын
@@rsy1708I've been mostly free of added sugar. I eat pieces of fruit. The whole carb thing is up for debate. I'm mostly seeing how it affects my body. I notice that I just have to eat smaller plates of high carb vs fats I'd have to eat more. Or that I'm fuller on carbs for longer periods therefore not eating often. So I'm not sure if high carbs are really a danger. Its like, would you rather drink an espresso or a low dose of caffeine cup of coffee throughout the day.
@rsy1708
@rsy1708 Ай бұрын
@rosembermorales1995 I don't know for sure either (of course) what's really good or bad for us; I just have some strong opinions. I try to orient myself on what we ate thousands of years ago, what exists in plain nature. And there is no high-carb food like bread, pasta, cooked rice, etc. Carbs themselves are not bad, no question about that. The question is just, as Jessie usually says, how they are packaged. If you get carbs from green salad, that's no big deal.. it's a small dose packaged with lots of fiber, other good nutrients, etc. But if you look at something like bread, there's a big imbalance there: a lot of carbs with comparatively little fiber and other nutrients. This imbalance also exists in most modern fruits, which have been cultivated over time by humans and now contain way more sugar. I think this imbalanced food is harmful to us. Also, if you eat something harmful in small doses, the potentially bad effects might be very small and maybe not noticeable. It's like drinking a very small portion of alcohol every day or smoking just one cigarette a day.. you might not see any instant bad effects (once you got used to it), but over time your health would decrease. By the way, I do not take any caffeine, so I don't drink coffee, not even tea, and I don't eat chocolate (which also contains caffeine). But good for you that you are mostly free of added sugar. Improving one's diet is long, hard work, and one should not stress too much about it. Realization and acceptance are the most important things that everyone should practice, I would say. And then it's up to each person how far they want to go, preferably in small steps. And yes, one very important thing here is also to know or guess correctly what's really good for us and what's not.. that's actually really hard too.

OMG! Her work is so, so appreciated. At 66, I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes in January 2024. I was so fortunate to find the "Glucose Revolution" Book at the same time. By April my Diabetes was now in remission with normal A1C. Thank you Jessie Inchauspé! Your insights have probably save many lives. For myself I lost 46 pounds dropped from a 40" waist to a 33" waist and have kept my weight and my glucose levels under control. I started with a Mediterranean diet and tweaked it to avoid high carbs. Before, I used to have so many cravings and glucose ups and downs and was so tired all the time and could not sustain energy levels at all and had brain fog a lot of the time. After getting my glucose levels under control and weight down, I have so much energy. I got so restless I found I had so much energy throughout the day that I felt I could accomplish anything. I have three grand kids who I adore and are the big motivator to stay healthy and young. I want to see my great grand kids in the future. Thanks for providing guidance when I needed it the most!

Since my wife passed away in December I have gone on a major health kick. I joined my local gym and pool. I also started going to Slimming World. Since then my type 2 diabetes has gone into remission (I was on 4 metformin but have dropped to 3 with my next check next month to hopefully drop another). I'm eating way more fruit, vegetables , lean meat and fish and far less processed food. I have also gone tea total and avoid sweets, chocolate, biscuits and crisps. The one treat I still have is diet soda (nobody is perfect right). I feel so much better in myself, I have gone from 48" waist to 38" and in weight I have gone from 21.2 stones to 17.7. I have a goal of 16 stones which I feel is easily achievable. My biggest advise to anyone struggling with weight is to learn to cook things from scratch that is the only way to truly know what you are eating in terms of the amount of fats and sugars. I just wish my wife could see me now 😢 x

Its quite amazing to see so many people misunderstanding this video. People love to jump in with bad comments when they don't understand what they are hearing. First off, they did not say you should not eat fruit; they said limit your intake of it and research shows that is correct. More and more new information comes out everyday. I would rather hear the info and choose for myself than wish years later I could have avoided it. Fruit is NOT the fruit it used to be which was healthy and SOIL is not the same as it has been sprayed with chemicals. Stop asking for evidence and do your own research before insulting someone who did. If you want to continue your way of life and eating, then do so but do it without expressing anger at those who struggle to make the public aware of hidden health issues. Some people eat fruit and do really well as well as those who do poor with fruit. At least if you come for information on a video, expect to not be bias and hear it through. It seems many come to these videos just to argue. And as for click bait... really? The title gives an idea of the video yet YOU still clicked on it. Ask yourself why.

I often hear the term "moderation" parotted but when pressed on what the word means s/he has "deer in the headlights" syndrome. The "dose makes the poison" is a lie. Poison is poison whether small amounts or large. The difference is, at what amount can your body detoxify it well enough to avoid succumbing to it? When I read about the Randle Cycle and glycation (and glycation end products), and the evidence that fructose is 11x more glycating than glucose, perhaps fruit/fructose in "moderation" means zero amount. (glycation occurs when sugars bind to proteins causing them to misshapen and function improperly).

Diversity is overrated but moderation is necessary long term. Short-term people typically need strict diets to achieve their goals. They do not have the self-control to apply moderation that is why eating filling healthy foods full of water/fiber helps so many ppl with hunger/cravings.

With only minor tweaks to your usual diet (if it isn't utterly unhealthy), you can have great successes. In my culture we often mix raisins/dates with almonds. I often eat a few pistachios or some pecans with an orange or some berries. My blood sugar levels go back to normal, even without insulin, as long as I am active. Dried fruit is a very concentrated in sugar, so just eat it with the some form of protein (yoghurt/cream, kefir, or nuts) to add fibre & allow glucose spikes in the blood stream to he buffered.

I have eaten mostly fruit for 4 years now in the form of smoothies (not juice) and raw fruit - maybe about 50% in the last two years. Medical scientists would do well to test the metabolism of fructose/glucose from fruit (Shop bought or wild) or fructose from processed food. There is is huge difference in my experience. Ie after losing weight dramatically the first three weeks, I put on no fat whatsoever despite eating bins worth of fruit - 6 pints a day. However as soon as I switched to processed sugar fructose, I put on fat. While I was trying to get rid of migraines every four days, there were other collateral benefits - didn't get a virus, IBS went, psoriasis went, night sight improved, nasal polyps shrank by 80%, post nasal drip abated, on the 4th day all stiffness and heaviness in the body goes..you get right out of bed and walk. The downsides were dental caries during lockdown..however these were ONLY because dry fruit eg dates, mangos etc were getting stuck between my teeth and I needed to be told to gently water floss between the teeth each day (no caries in 2 years since starting this practice). I had a thorough blood test done on the 2nd year and all parameters were within normal including Vitamin B that fruit lack. While it is a big push to do just fruit, and I'd only recommend it if you are really chronically ill, at least all of us could eat higher percentage. I used modern fruit varieties despite their being bred and possibly? having lost some useful components. I am sure that there is a difference in the way natural fructose and all other sugars in fruit are metabolised in the body compared to the way processed sugars are. I urge the medical scientists to research this. My prediction would be that you would have a huge backlash against your findings but stick with it and you would be known as a paradigm-breaker within your field later in life.

Well there's no fiber in sugar but there is some in most fruits. The point she made was when you Juice/make Smoothies with the fruit you're destroying most of the fiber thus it's basically the same as just eating added sugar. I have looked into and there's very small differences but ultimately it's the Fiber consumption you need to think about more.

Fructose is the problem, especially for children. It causes fatty liver disease if consumed in excess, and is about as damaging to the liver as alchohol. Fructose is also created when corn starch or sucrose breaks down after digestion, and in corn products like corn syrup. The problem with fructose is that we eat too much of it in unnarural form - fruit juices, sucrose (sugar) in everything, and fruits throughout the year as a staple. This is not normal for humans - fruits were available in short seasons before global agricultural shipping. Fruit juices do not grow on trees, and sugar, honey etc. were rare commodities.

@jonswap9097 every and each carbohydrate will turn into GLUCOSE (not fructose) upon digestion and being metabolized. Fatty liver (non-alcoholic ) liver typically takes in place in patients with joint diverse metabolic disorders simultaneously occurring, not only in those who consume sugar (fructose, glucose, lactose, sucrose or any other saccharides). It’s just quite unlikely to develop fatty liver by eating fruit. Most importantly, I don’t think there is an argument to be made about so-called modern fruit and its counterpart ‘ancient fruit’. Fruit is natural now and so the fruit from hundred or thousand years ago. If there is a conundrum with anything being ‘unnatural in human beings’, you should really take a look about all the unnatural things we do… such as writing one another behind a black mirror (a.k.a. a smart cellphone)

Palm date fruits are highly sweet by basic nature, and, many fruits are just naturally very sweet without much human involvement in the fruit's evolution. And, I've found it best for my body to not eat highly sweet fruits, except minimally. More so crunchy fibrous fruits are better for me, such as low to medium sweet apples, for example. Nuts / seeds can be problematic except in small amounts, unless soaked in water for a day, then let to sit/dry then eat.

So eat a damn fruit, try to pick the ones with higher fiber or lower sugar and do not denature it (dont dry them or remove the fibers) but there's no reason to not eat them. We need energy anyway

I am so impressed with this data. I do have a couple of questions: 1. As a youth I found that fruit tasted very good; however, today, I find most fruit very sour and not tasty at all. I was making smooties with fresh fruit only to discover my stomach felt full of gas. I then realized that much of the fruit and vegetables are harvested prior to proper ripening. I began to purchase frozen vegetables and fruit to discover a much better blend and no stomach aches. I have worked in the produce area of supermarketing for many years and know that much of the ripe vegetables and fruit are blast frozen. I have for the most part stopped buying much of the Alleged "Fresh" fruit and vegetables and now but frozen. What are your thoughts on this topic. 2. When I was a child we never drank milk due to what my parents disclosed as too costly. When I would visit my relatives milk was a real treat, so when asked if I wished a drink of milk I would never refuse. I noted that my relatives would mention, to one another, that a long weekend was about to approach and to order more milk from the dairy. I was informed that milk was good for about 3 to 4 days if properly refrigerated. Today milk lasts 3 to 4 weeks. I have discovered the milk industry adds sugar to the milk. While I am still told by many that milk is good for you, I wonder if all of the added ingredients have actually destroyed the value/quality of the milk. What is your feeling on drinking Club Soda (sugar and caffeine free) instead of soda pop.

I totally agree, being born and raised in less developed country, the fruit in USA , even vegetables are the most fake tasting stuff ever. natural fruit actually tastes better than whatever is being cross bred and manufactured here. in USA all fruits in stores are underripe, tasteless, or have no dimension to it's flavor, all you taste is just flat sugar taste. Definitely most foods have a lot less nutritional value today then they had before they became the the subject for industry. I find even organic stuff sold at stores not always taste right.

"Fruit is not natural" is a deceptive way to start. There *is* actually ancient fruit that has always been high in sugar. What she doesn't mention is that eating lots of fatty meat or generally lots of fat isn't "natural" at all either. "Natural" meat like deer is *lean.* Fat sources outside of cold water fish and icebears are *rare* in nature. Lean protein and carbs much less so (acorns, tubers etc.)To come up with a high-fat diet you need to breed high-fat animals or take their milk and isolate the fat... which of course is "unnatural," right? Or look at the (in)famous high-fat population, the Eskimos or Inuit if you wish to be politically correct... mummified remains show us that they had high rates of arteriosclerosis and osteoporosis. Is that what we want, because it's "natural?"

Long term research on keto is woefully lacking. Considering that we aren't carnivores and cannot process so much saturated fat, I'm hundred percent sure that cardiovascular health of people on long term keto is highly questionable. It has been shown that high carb paired with high fiber is completely sufficient to control glucose and triglycerides for even diabetic patients.

Eat in moderation! Eat slowly! Give your body a break …. For life! Move!! Watch your weight/BMI Listen to your body! How much exercise do you need? The American Heart Association recommends getting at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise a week. If you have a sedentary lifestyle, you should aim for at least 5-10 minutes of low-intensity physical exercise a day. Moderate physical activities that can increase your heart and breathing rates and lower your blood pressure include: * Household chores, * Climbing stairs * Walking * Jogging Long-Term Blood Pressure Control * Regular physical activity is an important part of long-term blood pressure control. Exercise conditions the heart and improves the health of blood vessels. It also will help you manage your weight, lower your stress, and make you feel good. * To be precise, both short-term and long-term physical exercise have the effect of lowering blood pressure. In other words, after a few minutes of physical exercise, the heart can pump blood with less pressure and still be equally useful. Marathon runners have lower blood pressure Marathon running makes arteries younger and lowers blood pressure. Blood pressure numbers that are at or below 120/80 mm Hg are considered normal. During exercise, your systolic blood pressure may be temporarily elevated by 20 to 30 mm Hg but then come down within a few minutes after your workout is done. Want to turn back time? Try running a marathon New marathon runners reduced blood pressure, arterial stiffness equivalent to a 4-year reduction in vascular age! American College of Cardiology Summary: The new year means it's time to set resolutions forever and new research suggests running a marathon for the first time could have several health benefits. The study found that for first-time marathon runners, training and completion of the marathon was associated with reductions in blood pressure and aortic stiffening in healthy participants that were equivalent to a four-year reduction in vascular age. Regular exercise makes the heart stronger. A stronger heart can pump more blood with less effort. As a result, the force on the arteries decreases. This lowers blood pressure. My blood pressure ..... after running! 108/58-72 pulse 107/62- 76 111/56- 78 111/61- 72 108/56-69 112/57-68 119/64-79 Instant gratification Overindulging myself at 72! WATERCRESS is officially the healthiest food in the world, according to a new study. Watercress scored 100/100 on a test of 17 different critical nutrients Watercress Substitute * Arugula is probably the closest match you'll find for watercress. Its flavor is similarly mild and peppery, and it'll provide you with a similar nutritional boost. * Nasturtium leaves. ... * Radish sprouts. ... * Kale. ... * Spinach. This was closely followed by Chinese cabbage (91.99), chard (89.27), beet green (87.08), spinach (86.43) and chicory (73.36). Leaf lettuce (70.73), parsley (65.59), romaine lettuce (63.48) and collard green (62.49) rounded out the top 10. Key Takeaways for quick navigation: Dr. David Sinclair, a Harvard genetics professor, has adopted a diet and lifestyle that has made him biologically younger, with improved health markers compared to his earlier years. To slow down aging, exercise vigorously three times a week until you lose your breath, which stimulates positive bodily responses, like muscle growth and better blood flow. The most important eating habit for longevity is to eat less often and reduce the daily eating window. Dr. Sinclair prefers a six-hour eating window and often skips meals. Intermittent fasting, with at least 16 hours of not eating, boosts the body's defenses against aging and promotes autophagy, a cellular recycling process. Dr. Sinclair focuses on "stress plants," like colorful vegetables and green tea, rich in polyphenols, which activate the body's defenses against aging. Dr. Sinclair takes three supplements daily: Resveratrol, NMN (a form of vitamin B3), and Metformin, which may support longevity and improve health. To promote longevity, cut down on sugar, particularly fructose, which can lead to fatty liver disease and other health issues. Dr. Sinclair eliminated bread from his diet, as it can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, leading to hunger and brain fog. He reduced meat consumption in favor of plant-based proteins, as plants offer better longevity benefits with their amino acid ratios. Dr. Sinclair also cut out dairy, further improving his health markers, possibly due to a reduction in overall protein intake. 🍷 He stopped drinking alcohol daily, emphasizing the importance of choosing red wine varieties like Pinot Noir for their Resveratrol content. Ikaria island in Greece, a place characterized as a blue zone. They're 105 and 108 years old, respectively, no health problems, perfect memory, don't wear eye glasses, no mobility issues. They basically eat meat (especially lamb), indigenous fruits, greek honey, yogurt, eggs, olive oil, tomatoes and some vegetable but not too much, drink coffee, a little bit of red wine occasionally. They wake up early in the morning, go to sleep around 22: 00 and they never eat after 19: 00. They also walk a lot.

A wonderful comment, and highlights some important factors of health... much of it supported by science, and what Dr Sinclair suggests- I'm on the fence about High intensity exercise, is it really necessary? these monks who live to an old age don't seem to do alot of exercise, even moving. though some chinese masters do soft qigong and taiqi, others do active qigong and kungfu. so I find my own balance, and occassionally run a mile/2. the last comment was anecdotal and doesn't mean what they ate was beneficial to their health or not. I guess they eat more natural foods in general and have a healthy lifestyle is what gives them that age-range and its a warm sunny place with water around. going to sleep at 22:00 and not eating after 19:00 is really disciplined! some cultures have their own resolve

OMG… That clickbait strategy spreads so badly🤦🏻‍♀️ I really like this channel, but I will never support promoting against having whole fresh fruit. It‘s been such a staple in my diet throughout my life and always proven to have great benefits to my health and figure. Come on, guys, let’s first focus on keeping procesed foods and sugars out of everyone’s diets, and leave whole foods alone!😄

I love all this information and have watched several of her videos and will continue to further educate myself. Otherwise I have to rely on my Dr who did all the necessary bloodwork and than pulled out her prescription pad and said see you in 4 months. No follow up appt to talk about my numbers or better nutrition, etc.

Fruit eaten after anything else will ferment. I’m surprised Jesse didn’t mention that. It is terrible food combination that can cause bloating and other digestive issues which eventually may start other health issues.

how can anything rot in your somach where there are literally acids to dissolve it and constant movement to the anus? Unless you have a condition, this is just common sense. @@Joyfullyjuicing

Same as high dense calorific Durian fruit. Used to be seasonal fruit, once a year, and the eatable part is far less, compared to nowadays Durian. No longer seasonal, hybrid with smaller seed, more eatable parts which is getting thicker and thicker.

Hundreds of thousands and millions of years ago, our ancestors had VERY LIMITED access to sugar. They may have found a few berries that the birds and other animals didn't eat first. They may have found a little honey now and then. That's it. The few fruits and other plant foods available then were completely different than what we have today. Take ANY of your favorite plant foods and do some research. What were they like before humans began changing them. Human beings evolved on fatty meat. We can get every necessary nutrient from animal sources. The same can't be said for plant-based diets. Look in the cupboard of any vegan, and what will you find? Bottles and bottles of supplements: Vitamin B12, Vitamin A (Retinol), Carnitine, Carnosine, Creatine, Vitamin D3, DHA, EPA, Heme Iron, and Taurine. These are essential nutrients that our bodies need to stay healthy. Supplements for them weren't available even a few hundred years ago, let alone a hundred thousand years ago. What did our ancestors eat during the ice ages or even just in the winter time? Do some critical thinking, and it quickly becomes clear that humans were meant to be primarily meat eaters.
