They are picked up, still green and far away from my market. Bruised, mushy, sometimes with mold forming on them, after some ripening gas exposure ! Why would I want to buy those? I guess you do not have to be that bright to realise therefore they must be full of sugar.Thank you for making your content short and to the point. My rule for eating berries: occasionally, and only when my body is calling for its particular nutrient profile. I recently went two months without eating berries, and I didn’t have any cravings for it, but I’ve been fasting a lot and went a little too far, and I felt that my body needed the nutrients in the berries, so I had about a half a cup with some plain Greek yogurt. Now that I’ve pushed myself that far with fasting I know where my limit is and know how to maintain my eating schedule with ketogenic foods.

We’re very much like bears . As an avid hunter I watch bears come out of hibernation . The first thing that they do is eat green grass and shoots and dandelions Then they switch to hunting the moose , elk , deer and caribou calves and they dig for grubs and bugs as the season progresses . Once the blueberries are ripe they use them to fatten up as we approach the fall. When the berries dry up they become more predatory until hibernation . It’s an interesting cycle that I could see us doing in the past . We don’t hibernate or eat grass but what he’s saying about the two months of berries makes sense . The bears get incredibly fat from the berries. These are mountain grizzlies . The coastal bears are different as they eat all kinds of critters that they can dig up on the beach and then they fatten up with the spawning salmon . They are actually a less dangerous bear because of this

To be fair our digestive system is very different for example our digestive system is that of a carnivore because we can't absorb and in fact fiber harms us we can't digest fiber for nutrients like herbivores or omnivores so were not truly omnivores we just carnivores with almost unlimited sugar supplies bears on the other hand are true omnivores they can digest meat for nutrients and fiber for nutrients because they have a cecum where they store fiber in and special bacteria inside the cecum are what breaks down fiber in their digestive system for nutrients and than they absorb the nutrients of the fiber they store in their cecum and that gets fermented overtime just thought it's interesting to share

I'm interested and viewing your video series, Dr. Cywes. I'm commenting here after reviewing your videos on ketosis, prostate cancer, eating vegetables and animal products. I also have a background as an athlete but gained weight and have elevated PSA in addition to a meniscus tear. I am 60 and also enjoy health videos by Dr. D'Agostino, Thomas DeLauer, Dr. Hyman and Dr. Seyfried. What I would like to point out is many antioxidants are found in fruit that are also anti-carcinogenic and anti-mutagenic; a little of these fruits can go a long way for some while they could be avoided altogether by others. A lot of people are looking at the production of ketones to keep PSAs & cancer cells in a compromised state where ketone cells dissolve them or depleted where low doses of chemo or radiation can clean them out without doing a lot of other damage (Seyfried, Hyman). In my exercise, I have depleted glucose and fat stores to very low levels where I would easily burn through new re-feed carbs and sugars within 20 - 30 minutes of a new workout. Additionally, some carbs are needed to protect muscle formation so some might as well be antioxidants but a little goes a long way. Thank you. Good luck to you.

What about berries with meals? I don’t graze them between meals. Or drive by as it’s said
@PhyllisMoon4 ай бұрын
Just have them with some full fat dairy & you're good to go 😊

Dr. Cywes, are peppers (IE: jalapenos, serranos, etc) a hard no, as well? Technically, they are fruit, but I like the heat. I am interested in your thoughts.

Noooooo....not my berries 😅 It's either that or always ending up drinking massive amounts of sugar free soda. Dunno, what it is...but either consuming about a handful of raspberries or blueberries in my sparkling water each day (or sometimes slices of lemon/lime, when they're in season) or going for the artificially sweetened/flavored stuff, is just what I do. And I have no urge whatsoever, to eat other sugary things. Completely cured myself from that with ketovore. I love fruit and miss eating it - but I totally agree, that most fruits are very much a gateway drug into other sweet, high carb foods. So I abstain and I don't have cravings for them per se anymore. But berries in moderation don't seem to have that effect on me and somehow my body starts acting up, if I completely deny it that specific 'fruity' taste. Not sure, if it's a psychological thing (boredom with savory/salty foods) or maybe I do need a little dose of vitamin C or something...but it works for me.

@lovepeace3927 Not all fruits are good for you- I can't believe YOU are that lost. Fruits as we know them didn't even exist till farming started modifying them... now they are just sugar bombs

tomatoes, together with eggplants and bell peppers, are part of the nightshade family, and they are technically a fruit. I suppose lectins are not an issue, but what makes tomatoes distinct?
@xDDufiosy5 жыл бұрын
He probably mentioned it because it’s more common to see. With burgers and what not.
@v.a.n.e.5 жыл бұрын
well, there's a chance. zucchini and eggplants are also very low carb fruit, but the taste can not be compared, of course. @@xDDufiosy

Wow. and Ouch. Also: Yay! Confirmation! (I didn't get the reference to Dr. Eric Westman. I thought it was sarcasm, but I know Dr. Westman also doesn't eat fruit??) Thanks for your great content, Dr. Cywes. Sure wish i found you 4 years ago when you made this! Still timeless great info.

How about Lemmon Water? Damn though about the blueberries, I bought 4 plants last fall from a blueberry farm and they are huge. its getting to be spring and I see tons of buds. But I am 6'1" and 170lbs, no weight or heart issues, I don't think it will kill me in moderation and in season. I'm really just here to help my mom and I am getting quite an education for my own health. I have been following your eating advise for a little while now.
