I know how you feel, my father also thinks it is a gimmick. But, the CeraVe lotion does help a lot with razor burn. For example, my uncle the other day came to me asking if I had hand sanitizer to put on his face because of razor burn. He said it would overpower the burn with more burn. I told him to never do that again and I took out the CeraVe Lotion and told him to apply it. Sure enough, it instantly relieved the burning and irritation. I like how you pointed out that you spend more money on sunscreen than other products! I see others often recommending to spend less on the “basics” like cleanser, moisturizer, and spf because there are good inexpensive options, and while that is true, I think those are the products worth spending the most money on and time searching for them because they are the foundation of your skincare routine and are what do most of the heavy lifting when it comes to improving skin. I often also see the recommendation to “splurge” on serums which, again, makes no sense to me as those are the types of products that often have less research behind them. I think it’s more important to find basics that you enjoy using regularly and spending your money there than on pricey (and often gimmicky) serums.
@DefinitelyNotAFerret3 жыл бұрын
Oof I splurge on my retinol and acids and I use a cheap sunscreen (but it’s also my favorite sunscreen) the A’Pieu sunscreen ❤️ it’s the closest dupe to the discontinued Dear Klairs Airy UV that I’ve used so far
@justynawisniewska12133 жыл бұрын
But there are great inexpensive options and they are right to an extent as the key to spf is buying one of which formula you like and the price point is not so high as to prevent you from using it in a liberal amount that is needed and reapplying. However you are also right, if you are willing to splurge on something spf is a great thing to choose.

haha I spend less on silly vanity products that never did it for me (masks, eye creams) buy cheaper simpler cleansers, then shifted that money towards my sunscreen. When I worked at a beauty supply shop I never cared much for Dermalogica and surprisingly neither did aestheticians/dermatologists who would come in. Interesting to hear that straight from aesthetician and dermatologists and what a relief that good, reliable skin care is often much easier and cheaper for all of us 💙

As a certified wound care clinician, I don't think petrolatum is the best first line defense in minor skin abrasions/lacerations. The first sequence in wound healing is hemostasis. This is needed to stop the wound from bleeding and allow the wound to proceed through the next 3 phases of healing. If petrolatum is applied before hemostasis is achieved, this can slow down the healing process even in minor skin injuries. After hemostasis is complete, petrolatum can certainly help protect the skin. Additionally, people tend to double dip into their petrolatum containers which can lead to introducing bacteria into even the smallest of cuts.

CeraVe has an oil free pm lotion - not sure about their other products. If I have clogged pores on a certain part of my face - I prefer to use glycolic pads at night and let it dry and leave it alone and just use an eye cream. Retinoids may help too at night. During the day - non comegenic/oil free serum and spf. I also like glycolic face washes. A benzoyl peroxide face wash works well for me when my skin gets more oily. Neutrogena, who I must say I do like for many things, does this a lot. Suncreens and other lotions often have literally the SAME ingredients. In the same order. Astounding. Toothpastes are this way, also. Go read them one day. They are often the SAME forumula for 5 different "types" of toothpaste by same company.

You literally may have just changed my life with the lip sunscreen around the eyes. I have tried all kinds of sunscreen and sunblock around my eyes, and I get such a bad, painful reaction. The only one the doesn’t is quite expensive ($35 for a very small amount, and I work outside so I have to reapply often extremely often). Omg thank you!!

You can use a powder to "set" the sunscreen on your eyelids. I've been doing it for a while and it works really wonderfully. Dr. Dray's tip is great but if I want to wear some eye makeup like eyeliner, that would be pretty hard.

My dermatologist told me that the 2nd largest contributor to contact dermatitis after nickel was neosporin! I am definitely allergic to neosporin. I had contracted Pink Eye about 20 years ago and the doctor had prescribed Neosporin eye drops since I could not take the usual sulfa based eye drops. After using the neosporin eye drops my eyes swelled very badly! My coworker's were calling me YODA! Stay away from Neosporin!!

I only use Neosporin cream on a small area that I don't want too much oil or want to get it absorbed in - like if I have broken skin somewhere on my face or a paper cut or something. Save it for something that.

Digression : But I also recommend using a leave on anti-dandruff product. Has saved my life (to be a bit dramatic) while trying not to wash out my hair color faster than necessary. There are fragrance free ones. Relives itch and actually help clean the scalp a bit, unlike dry shampoo.
@marianne63733 жыл бұрын
@@barbieblue3336 It's just why I bought them. But I would recommend them to people who don't too. The only one I use that I know is sort of available outside of the Nordic countries, if you order online, is from a brand called SIM Sensitive. It's a fantastic brand though. I also know that The Inkey list (a brand I personally don't like, but everyone else does) has a salisylic acid scalp serum. Philip Kingsley has one that should be available internationally that's almost fragrance free ?) as far as I can remember. With pircono lactone or however you spell it 😂But just look around the internet and local pharmacy/ drug store! Salisylic acid serums for the face, can also be used on the scalp in my experience.

Dr drays rec sounds promising but I’d love to say try the ordinary glycolic toner! Since it’s an AHA it makes a fab deodorant and there is no smell when I use it! Glycolic acid is also brightening so I think it might help with hyperpigmentation! If you aren’t sensitive you can use it on face too and have a multi use product! Or I’ve seen people using this on legs and even as a scalp exfoliant! Obviously patch test before but I just put it in a spray bottle and it’s perfect! (I think imo might be more convenient than a body wash that dr dray recs since you can use it on the go!)

Your skin is not the same all over your body. I would NEVER put my oily, thick body lotion all over my face. People need to learn more about ingredients and their skin's different needs. Skin on your foot or leg is not the same as your face. Horrible idea.

I'd love to see anyone in the skincare world talk about some products that would help with facial shaving.. as a woman who had hormone issues as a teen and was told to shave to deal with it, now until I have the cash to laser or anything I kinda gotta resort to shaving every single mornin'. It'll still be prickly, just like a man's, by the evenin' but that once mornin' shave of the mustache and beard area is already enough to make that area sensitive and red with little bumps that are really difficult to hide under makeup. It's embarrassing enough, but the lack of talk about women havin' to shave and how it affects their skincare routine has always kinda irked me cause, it's a pretty common issue women have to deal with.

While I don't necessarily disagree on using body lotions in place of facial moisturizers, I recommend people to check what's in their body lotions and do test swatches before applying directly to their faces. This comes from personal experience where I ruined my skin by rubbing it on my face (not immediately, but it got much worse over time and I did not introduce new products to my skincare routine), and it took a few years for my skin to recover. Watch out for irritating ingredients like fragrance and make sure to not only test it on your body first, but also on your neck or to a less sensitive part of your facial skin before using regularly. It never hurts to be patient and careful

No alcohol denat. which i can't tolerate and no white cast. It is dewy but not like disgusting greasy. Soothes the skin and didn't clog my pores. 💜 Great vid Dr. Dray!

The texture is so light , it has no smell and it goes on under makeup beautifully. I get mine on eBay 5 bottles for 20$ 😀 Never used another sunscreen like it…no white cast either!
