Thank you for posting this. I have had a nasty basal cell cancer in the skin just under my right eye (inner campus) removed twice in the past two years and am going again for another removal in a few weeks. This time more extensive surgery. I have used a lot of sunscreen over the past 25 years but as you know, sun damage is cumulative. My Dermatologist (whom I respect) tried a cream, then a scrapping neither of which worked. He did this because it is such a delicate area. Your message is so important! Thank you. (please also talk about sunglasses).
@paulachristie78074 жыл бұрын
I had two small basal cell carcinomas removed from near the lower corner of my left eye, about a little finger thumbnail from the corner of the eye. He was able to just zap them, but it hurt and looked ugly. Also have had four tiny ones removed from the top of my upper lip, two at a time. Yikes, that hurt and made me look like I had face planted into a sidewalk. All my facial ones have been tiny but I had a MOHS and an excision on my right arm and an excision from my back - I thought that a mole - not a mole. Word to the wise - use sunscreen!

Amber I mean my eyes. My eyelids have never had any irritation with any sunscreen. Certain sunscreens, however, will make my eyes sting, feel tired or heavy, etc....The best tolerated sunscreens by my eyes are mineral sunscreens with NO fragrance & minimal ingredients. I've really struggled trying to find a mineral sunscreen that doesn't irritate my very sensitive eyes. Most sunscreens cause my eyes to water and/or burn. However, I FINALLY found one that doesn't cause any irritation, whatsoever......AlumierMD Sheer Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF40 sunscreen. I use the untinted version, and I absolutely love it! I did try the ColorScience 3-in-1 eye SPF, and I sent it back because it irritated my eyes. I also found the shade too dark for my fair complexion. The new FAIR shade looks like a much better option for fair skin. I would definitely try it again if it didn't irritate my eyes.

I figured let’s try this on my eye lids and it truly does not irritate my eyes at all, and this is even with me wearing my mask all day at work getting hot air up into my eyes lol + I like the highlighting effect! Yes! Heavy mineral sunscreen- for example Elta MD UV sport SPF 50 can work as a highlighter, though it can smear mascara later in the day. As a retired md I thank you for information. Switched to curve, rec my brother who at 80 developed psoriasis and the anti itch curve was wonderful for him. I am going to try colorlessence as my eyes get irritated very easily from many face products. Did well with drmlology 45 but recently had more trouble. Wish I had none to use daily when sunscreens first appeared, but no evidence at that time, but my skin is In good shape. Keep information comi g

Your skin looks sooo good. Like glass! I have been trying to just go with tinted sunscreen and mascara , per your advice, but my mascara smudges. It never does with foundation. Is your thrive mascara water proof? I struggle with dbl cleanse in that my eyes are very bothered by the cleansing balm. I’ve tried all you have recommenced

golunbabble she said mineral spf, especially tinted mineral spf, so I would check products & see if they are mineral sunscreens rather than chemical (you can do more research online how to tell the difference based on ingredients). Also, I would check ones that are recommended for baby’s first (like one she mentioned here). Usually they have minimal fragrances and no extra ingredients. Also, I love the skincare beauty Reddit & there is one for Asian skincare too....the Asian skincare Reddit would be the right one for you! 💜 Last resort--I would look up the ingredient lists for the spf’s she recommends and compare them to the products/brands available to you! 💜

Is there any other good tinted sunscreen for around the eyes that you recommend that is not so expensive ?? That colorscience one is $69! 😩

The bare Republic tinted sunscreen works wonderfully and is a mineral sunscreen. Non orange tinted light color

Dermstore has it for $28.80 as of 07/12/2021 for 0.23 fluid ounces. They have a points program and discounts for subscribing. I hope that helps. Otherwise I wouldn't get it either because $69 is way over budget for me.

Dr. Dray I've watched quite a few of your videos now and I've learned a lot. However, in this video I feel compelled to point out that the Coppertone Pure and Simple that you're recommending contains C12-15 alkyl benzoate. In the presence of uv rays, this breaks down to benzene!

Dr. Dray, would you consider makeup setting sprays containing sunscreen effective? I imagine the user would reapply throughout the day by misting their face. Coola came out with one that I was curious about. I already enjoy their mineral silk drops and tinted moisturizer.

Happy Valentine's Day, Dr Dray! 💕 Really found this so helpful! Some sunscreens burn when I put them close to my eyes. Obviously I don't like to neglect that area so I just put up with it. Thank you so much! I will be searching for a new one for the eye area. I hope you have a cozy evening. 😊

hi Dr. Dray! do you have any recommendations for eye creams that deal with fine lines? I am 21 and am just noticing some small lines under my eyes and I would like to get rid of them. Thank you!! love your videos!!
@ninjuwat4 жыл бұрын
Dr Dray - have you tried this one: I've been using 'DERMAdoctor DD eye - Dermatologically Defining Eye Radiance Cream SPF 30'. It's lightly tinted and I can put it a generous dab on my eyelids and even rub it gently into my lash line with zero irritation. I get it from Costco in a 2 pack for a very good price. I started using this after a nasty fluorouracil treatment for AKs that I never want anywhere near my eye (or face) ever.

I have the mineral Cerave Hydrating 30 SPF that has a white cast that I don't like, in the winter anyway, that I use only around my eyes and always think it's a good cosmetic brightener for the eye area.

Sadly, I'm allergic to the Colorscience 3-in-1 eye. I think it's the inactive ingredients that are the culprit. Just guessing. The only sunscreen I've been able to wear near/on my eyes is EVY Kids. Unfortunately, practically all sunscreens cause me pretty bad eye allergies so I have to be really careful. And being older and having dry skin, I stopped wearing concealers all together. In fact, I stopped wearing makeup, thanks to you, and my skin is so much better. My only makeup: lipstick and doing my brows. And what they can't accomplish, my big sunglasses and hip, broad brim hats (even inside) do. They're my new makeup.

Paula’s Choice Defense line SPF 30 works well for me. It doesn’t burn my skin (tretinoin nightly) and eyes so I use it everywhere in the eye area. It’s not marketed as tinted but it is definitely not white and does not leave cast in my medium Asian tone. It is glowy for sure and a bit greasy upon application but becomes dry and soft to the touch after a few minutes while retaining a bit of glow which is actually what I want. I would like to try Colorscience but the price, at $300/oz, is off-putting so, no.

Can I wear a mineral sunscreen around my eyes and a chemical (organic based) sunscreen on the rest of my face? The chemical sunscreen contains avobenzone and tinosorb s, would the inorganic filters interfere with avobenzones stability? I find that my eyes are a little sensitive to chemical sunscreens, so I want to try that.
