I've been waiting for this video! Thank you! These things drive me nuts. I've had them frozen and cauterized. One had been on my face for 9 YEARS. The issue is there are so many. I am currently using retin-a in the same formula as I used for acne when I was 14. I'm almost 62. I know there are much more serious health issues, but these are so annoying. 😡

It's not about these not being "serious". It's about you feeling hideous because your face is full of bumps. Women will pay thousands for a butt lift, so dont tell me they're be fine with bumps on their face. they won't be. it can really affect your self esteem. retin A will not stop bumps from forming. nor will it get rid of bumps. only strong chemicals that BURN off the bumps work, but that means 10 days recovery time. and yes, those who had acne when they were young tend to get SH later on in life. double whammy, right? talk about cruel

I dont why nobody mentions it. It took me MONTHS to find out what my bumps were. I sent photos of them to various clinics, none of them could give me an answer. I Googled it. Google came up with basal cell. It took a specialist dermatologist to diagnose them - shouldn't be that hard, folks. And many women dont mention it just like they dont mention having moustaches. they are embarrassed. they only post online when they're bragging about something which isn't helpful to others.

Tretinoin didn’t make mine go away, but I haven’t gotten any more since being on it for 4 years. I’m happy I’m using it because I’m in full on perimenopause at 48 and the way it’s been going, I’m sure I would’ve gotten more of these little buggers. Thank you Dr. Dray!!❤❤

Even if you don't think you are, it is worth getting educated about it because it is a natural progression as you age and knowledge is power! Too many women spend a fortune paying dermatologists to get these "zapped" off, and if you only had one bump, you're lucky. Many women have lots of bumps on their face. But you don't need to throw money at doctors to treat these. All you need to do is buy the right chemical and treat your own face. Just expect up to 10 days down time as you recover from the burns.

Almost thought these were my problem too but, the indentations in the center are not present. Mine are itchy/burning, and rashy like. And in some areas (chin) tons of them that feel like nothing at all. Just dry. I don't seem to have a problem with oil, but a lack of.. I got bumps that seem like this as I got older. First on my forehead, then on my face & finally on my eyelids. I just wipe them down with glycolic acid routinely as it seems to keep them on the flatter side, but it doesn't get rid of them. One that was bigger on my forehead, I opened up with a needle & there was an off white like paste in there. That one hasn't come back, but my actions caused a tiny divot in that spot.

Do nothing doesn't work for some people who have BUMPS all over their face and feel ugly. Some women only get one or two small bumps, and yeah, you can live with that. But some women get CLUSTERS of bumps all over their face, so doing nothing really isnt an option.

About 25 years ago a dermatologist cauterized a few off my face using what looked like a soldering iron. I smelled my skin burning too but it worked. About 6 years ago I had quite a few on the right side of my face. I went to a different dermatologist and he used a laser. In my province in Canada, it is a cosmetic procedure so I had to pay for it. What this doctor did wrong was he only lasered the center of each bump. So after it healed, the middle was flattened but the outer edges were still raised. I had to go back to him for another treatment and was charged again. If you are thinking about getting this done, just know that it is quite the wound and you will need time for the area to scab over and heal.

I had these on my face for years but had no clue what they were. I went to an esthetician and I'm completely free of these annoying bumps! I had to get them removed (it was a current injected into each one, which dissolved them). Not gonna lie, it was uncomfortable, especially around my eyes and mouth. I also got laser genesis treatment afterwards. I did the removal / laser about 3 times. Then started using Tretinoin and I no longer have the bumps. I hope this helps someone out!

@samhugh4965 Sure. Accutane has caused eye dryness for me. It has been very mild and I occasionally put in eye drops. I saw the eye doctor the other day who told me the dry eye side effect will pass about a month after stopping Accutane. My scalp is dry, my lips are dry and the inside of my nose is dry. This is all very mild. My skin is fine, believe it or not, less oily, but not dry and flaky.

Oh and I have had a few days with generalized body aches. I am able to exercise just fine and live my life. I am happy I gave Accutane a shot.

I had very similar side effects with accutane in my early 30s. The lip dryness being the most annoying physical side effect but please know that if you have depression (or not even), the mental side effects can cause depression. I struggled with crying out of nowhere and knew the accutane had brought out depression that was in remission for me. Not a good time but got on antidepressants immediately and was fine. Doctors forget to discuss the non-physical side effects sometimes. 😢

I’m 30 and I’ve been getting these for the past 2 years. I thought it was epidermoid cysts. I have a skin picking problem exacerbated by drinking caffeine. Good luck. I’ve been trying to get rid of mine for years. It’s very difficult. I’ve had them physically removed with a tweezer scalpel but like she said if you don’t get it all they come back. They are really in bedded in the skin and difficult to remove. I haven’t tried electrical desiccation but doubt anyone in my small town does that.

I have had a couple of these for years. Turns out I also had a very small one that looked liked all the others. When it began to grow it was biopsied. It was a basal cell carcinoma. Looked exactly like the sebaceous hyperplasia. Two PCPs over about a 15 year period missed it. Even my dermatologist dismissed it at first but at the end of the visit she biopsied it. Get these things checked.

Ask for them to be removed. My derm said they can be cauterized (burn option) or kryo (the cold option). A friend did one of the two and there was downtime for them to heal (they form a scab) so that needs to figured in too. And good concealer! 😊

Your scalp might be too dry, or it could be seborrheic dermatitis. Also, do you use styling products? Some styling products ingredients can make your scalp itch. Check your products for phenoxythenol, for me it makes my scalp itch like crazy. Look up Manes by Mell on KZbin, she has a couple of great videos on figuring out scalp problems. I have seborrheic dermatitis, I use Selsun blue at least once a week to keep it at bay. I also avoid phenoxythenol in products. You might be reacting to ingredients in your hair care products.

BE VERY CAREFUL WITH TCA. that sh*t BURNS like battery acid. even a tiny bit will BURN YOU and you will take around 10 days to recover. TCA is very strong stuff so be very careful using it or you could end up with permanent burns and hyperpigmentation.

OMGOSH I have never clicked on a video so fast in my entire life I got one two years ago left of center of the bridge of my nose and I could not understand what the hell was going on and here I am 2 years later and I know it was from the fluctuation of hormones because I'm 55 and I'm just starting to have missed periods and going into menopause so I'm pretty sure that had something to do with it and then another dermatologist I listened to Here on KZbin who is local out of Newport Beach she said that using growth factors can also cause these and nothing will get rid of them except going in to see one of you guys to have this like deep needle puncture where you go in there and burn it I believe.... I just barely started the video so I will come back and edit it after I'm done watching I just had to shout out right away because I am in total desperation over this!

I have these bumps in the same (frustrating) place, as well as my forehead and cheekbones. What’s helped me a lot is using salicylic gel (I like the Neutrogena one). The spots haven’t completely disappeared, but they’ve shrank and new ones haven’t developed. I also use retinoids for general skin improvement, and the salicylic acid daily for those spot treatments. Hope this helps!

Accutane is a great treatment. I had this in 2018, went to 3 doctors who knew nothing about it. Thank God the 4th doctor in Fort Worth, Texas arrived at a diagnosis in late January, 2020. Took Accutane 2 and a half years and it cleared up in 2023 and have had no more problems.

I have a couple of these on my forehead. They've been their for years and they don't really bother me. It would, however, start to bother me if I developed more. Apparently after countless tries of various Retinol serums I realize that my skin just can’t seem to handle it regardless of the percentage and formulation. So even if it works on fine lines, I always get these breakouts right after and it’s not purging. Red and flesh colored bumps on my forehead and cheeks. So annoying. Don’t even have acne prone skin and pre 30’s, I never had any skin issues except sun eczema during winter… I tend to get spots that I think is a zit or insect bite, I scratch pick at it, for then to turn into a mole. But these don’t. Regardless of how much I pick or scratch they don’t even bleed, and never go away. I got 2 on my forehead and one on each check in the size of a tiny zit. My sensitive skin also hates actives like chemical exfoliants which I’ve used on and off for years. Same reaction as with Retinol, vitamin C, green tea and Niacinamide… red bumps, and red inflamed skin. After looking it up and see various pictures, this is not the condition that I have. Still, it’s annoying and lower my quality of life as I feel so ugly. Especially since I’m brown and these bumps are white or flesh colored so they are easy to see.

I have genetically oily skin (even at 62) and suffer from SH. I have had a lot of them despite a very good skincare regimen. My dermatologist performs electrocautery on me every 12-16. It hurts like a mother and you look terrible for a days (depending on how many you have removed) but it has been very effective for me. My derm also advises daily exfoliation (physical and chemical) tretinoin and using serums over creams. I was so diligent this last year and have had no new ones appear.

Being diligent won't stop the bumps. These bumps dont appear because you lacked diligence. Not having bumps is nothing to do with how great you've taken care of your skin. So stop patting yourself on the back. These bumps will appear on your face in spite of how well you take care of your skin. It's bad luck, and genetic. Just like bad acne. If you've had no new bumps appear it's just down to luck.

I have Rosacea , pretty well managed. I keep getting a hard clear bump on my nose. When it breaks it’s clear fluid. I was worried it could be skin cancer because it comes back. Hopefully it’s just this. Still trying to get into a dermatologist. I have been using Ordinary Squalene, with a silicone scrubbie. Which has helped so much and the Azelaic Acid. I do have skin toned numbs on my jaw line but that’s better than what I had before.

Being "meticulous" with skin care is a loaded thing to say as you are implying that only women with poor hygiene get bumps. So not true. These bumps have nothing to do with how good you take care of your skin. You are just unlucky if you get them. It's partly genetic. I suppose you think young people with bad acne have bad acne because they dont wash their face. Oh brother.

I started getting a few of these on my forehead in my late 50's. I use Tretinoin, but my dermatologist said I would need a stronger procedure. For now, I'll just live with them because my husband keeps telling me he can't even see them! But I'll keep this video bookmarked to refer back to. Thank you for this great info!! PS I'm steroid dependent, as I have Addison's Disease. I wonder if that could contribute to them? As it also suppresses the immune system.

Steroids can promote these bumps, yes. But more, they are genetic. If you had bad acne when you were young, you will probably get SH when you're older.

How timely. I've had one of these on my jaw for several years now. I just assumed it was a flesh colored mole. But anyway, I have been using tretinoin this last year and about 4 months ago finally got to using it everyday and I noticed that it started to shrink! Found out I had these when I saw a derm about some other bumps that were luckily quickly dealt with. Because mine are small, I thought it was just part of skin texture on forehead where I have some acne scarring. I had some Differin cream and tried that and it worked. They do come back and a few applications of Differin sort them

Same here! If you look on KZbin for “skin classic” and sebaceous hyperplasia it comes up. Find an aesthetician that has been trained in it. It’s a tool that burns them off

I use low setting plasma pen and paste effective pimple patches with tea tree oil that sucks out oily gunk for few days.. also use tretinoin…helps to reduce the size of the bumps significantly
