I have PCOS and aggressive endometriosis, which requires surgery every two years and has caused hormonal acne that my dermatologist couldn't control with ANY medication or treatment including Tretinoin. However, I discovered the Reedle shot about three months ago, and incorporating that with tretinoin since then has me free from any kind of acne, including hormonal acne. Last month I had three surgeries due to endometriosis and in the past just the sheer stress of surgeries caused my hormonal acne to flare up like no other and required antibiotics to control it. But this time I have ZERO acne. Being in my 30s I am not worried about foreign body granulomas showing up in another 60 years so I am willing to take my chances with this product because everything else has failed me. Also, the company stated very clearly that the reedles shed from our skin within 72 hours. If you choose not to believe that because of ONE doctor's opinion then that's up to you. This is my personal experience so don't come for me.

Hi Dr. Dray, I am a user of reedle-shot and I came across your video where you mentioned silica granulomas. This raised some concerns for me, so I decided to look into the matter further. Based on my research, there seems to be some disagreement regarding the potential for silica granulomas to develop from using reedle shot. Here are some key points to consider: 1. Crystalline vs. Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica Silica can be either crystalline or non-crystalline. The majority of studies linking silica exposure to granulomas have focused on crystalline silica. 2. Synthetic Crystalline Silica and Granulomas There is evidence regarding the development of granuloma from inhaling synthetic silica, but reedle shot is not a product designed for inhalation through the nose, nor could it be. 3. Toxicity of Non-crystalline(Amorphous) Silica There is currently limited research on the toxicity of non-crystalline silica, and no studies have specifically linked it to granuloma formation. 4. Non-crystalline Nature of Reedle-shot Spicules The spicules in reedle-shot are made from non-crystalline silica derived from the skeletons of marine sponges. Therefore, their potential to cause granulomas is considered to be much lower compared to crystalline silica. I believe it is premature and irresponsible to connect the use of reedle-Shot with silica granuloma. As an expert, if my opinion is incorrect, I would appreciate it if you could provide evidence linking the use of spicule or the application of non-crystalline(amorphous) silica on skin to cases of silica granuloma.

She did not say that Reedle would cause granulomas, she was using the granulomas as an example of how silica embedded in the skin can react, even years later. It might not happen with Reedle but since spicules are a new treatment without information on long-term side effects I cannot fault her for being cautious.

I shared apartment with a classmate during my uni years. One day, she started to have tiny bumps on the forehead. It went from just a few to literally no free space in about a couple months. When she barely touched them to cleanse her face, she felt painful neddles. Everybody said "Nah, deep pimples, they' ll mature, just wait." Getting an appointment with a pro derm for "a forehead break out" in the early 90' s? Sci-fi🤷🏻‍♀️. When she couldn' t stand the pain anymore, suddenly, one of the bumps spat a sharp crystal. It turned out that she had have a motorcycle accident 3 years ago and that micro pieces of broken glass had been living under her skin until the body was able to push them into the surface. This memory came into my mind at the speed of light when I knew about the spicles. What the hell can happen after x, y or z amount of time? 🤔😕... If you are wondering how the story ended, once her body expelled hundreds of pieces for months, she treated her terrible scars with ATO glycolic at 384% because she was lucky enough to have a family who could afford it in the pre-microneedling and laser era. 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

the sponge spicules are very common in facials in Korea. I had a lot of facials with them with a high concentration back in 2017. It helped drastically reduce my scarring and acne and even helped my boyfriend with his pitted cystic acne scars. I actually interned at a company that does the facials and sells at-home kits with a lower concentration. I have never had anyone come forward with an adverse or foreign body reaction. I wish there were more studies to prove this though. But if you have already tried this product please feel a bit safer knowing my experience. Do try in the future with caution.

longterm safety was the exact concern that stopped me from placing an order. the fact that the hydrolysed sponge gets in together with the cica and other ingredients makes me uncomfortable - we wouldn't leave needles in our skin after every injection, why would we want an accumulation of sponge in it from regular skincare application?

I'm obviously not the OP but since you seem to be implying that it must be something else they are using, I can say for me *personally,* improvements have been seen only with the addition of the 100 reedle version of this product. I have changed nothing other than adding it and have had others commented that my skin was looking good. I do not have good skin. I have cystic acne, melasma, and sensitive skin that tends to peel even if it's not irritated. The product does not claim to treat acne, but I have found at the very least that it has reduced it and what's more apparent to me is how quickly my zits have recovered. I had 2 that had just exploded the day before I started using it, which always leaves me with an open wound and really red marks that take a long time to fade. I've only been using it about a week but I only got one budding cyst yesterday that absolutely should be on fire right now, but it actually backed off and now I just feel the slight bump where it was. That just doesn't happen for me. Ever. If I am starting to get one, it's coming whether I like it or not, and no microdart patch or topical is going to prevent it. Maybe it's what actives are in the lotion, or maybe the reedles are helping my usual skincare absorb better, but something has definitely changed since I started using it.

This is the only topical product I have ever applied that actually worked in making noticeable improvements in my skin. IDK if it is the actual ingredients in this product or the fact that it is supposed to allow what you put on after to penetrate deeper, but I took before and after pictures, and the difference in overall skin texture, appearance of pores, deep wrinkles and especially the fine crepeness is dramatic. The before and after pics I took were about 2 weeks apart, and my friend noticed and commented on how good my skin looked and my husband did as well. The cashier at the grocery store couldn't believe I am in my 60s, same with my hairdresser. I don't know what it is doing, if it's just plumping or something deeper like they claim, but the results have been amazing for me.

I've been using Reedle shot products for about 3 months now, and at first I was worried that the cica reedle would get stuck in the skin and not come out, but after researching, I found out that it doesn't melt into the skin but falls off along with dead skin cells.

Thank you for the wise review,as a professional you have insight and experience which amateur beauty bloggers lack. Working in research I met too many reports on simple things we use daily and don't observe, but do cause issues. And it also depends on each one's body reaction. Like silica in instant coffee or titania in candies 😔

A few months ago, a popular KZbin plastic surgeon was also weary of this product and cautioned that the spicules could remain in the skin and cause damage years later just as fillers do, so I removed it from my Amazon cart.

I remember when Dr. Dray reviewed some of the Korean sunscreens and noticed how the ones she reviewed only had two filters and might not actually have SPF 50. I was just about to purchase this product but definitely skipping it for now! Thank you Dr. Dray!!

@@minoriruba1828 by first following only Korean content creators. Otherwise it’s just second hand info , and also not truly understanding the culture , ingredients especially anything relating to eastern medicine which is such an important aspect to East Asian skincare. Odile Monod although not Korean, lives as works there and is the only english speaker that talks about all the og brands from when I was growing up. Others who talk more about lesser $ brands are euniunni , one eye beauty. There’s truly a huge difference once you listen to the ones that know what they’re saying.

I have been using 100,300, and 700 for around three weeks now. Rotating between them. I have quite bad hormonal acne, esp around my jaw area. After using reedle shot plus their masks for two three weeks, I’m so happy to say that my skin texture got so much better 😭😭😭 my acne along my jaw was a lot lesser or like it healed a lot faster. The reedles really helped with getting the products or the hydration into my skin. Not much side effects too. Only maybe if I use the 700 one on my neck it’ll make my neck too sensitive and be itchy. Other than that everything is amazing!! I have also been using their pdrn serum thing and I feel like they work really well with the reedle shots. No issues abt it poking my eyes or whatever too haha. I really love this product. Can’t wait to see how my skin will look in a month!
