normaly you buy it scrub it with salt and water and than heat it up and rub it with a oil towel (thin layer of oil).....if the mineral B becomes black is perfect.....its called patina and is like a non stick layer....... a stainless steel looking carbon steel pan isn´t fun to cook with .
