I've got a friend who's new to drumming and I think I'll suggest for him to learn this as its a good beginner song then I can have him move on to bands like ACDC and Motley Crue to better his technical playing.

If only DT didn’t have a stick up their arse and allowed Portnoy to do an album with A7x and just waited a bit.
@murphymoerf6 жыл бұрын
that audition was a farce anyway, it was decided beforehand that Mangini was gonna win
@murphymoerf6 жыл бұрын
@Kid Political Portnoy recorded Nightmare way before the split. He even toured a few months with them. Everyone including Petrucci said A7X had nothing to do with it. Portnoy just wanted a break from Dream Theater. Pretty much everyone in DT always did side projects anyway so Nightmare wasn't at all the reason he left/was forced to leave
@zakh-g48936 жыл бұрын
insomniac oh I was always under the impression that’s the reason he left because they didn’t want to wait. But it’s probably what happens to a lot of bands it goes from being a bunch of friends playing for music into a business that Portnoy didn’t want to be apart of anymore.

@poopyjoe78838 жыл бұрын
dmh091 yeah, I found it easier to hard-memorize the song rather than worry too much about counting everything, mainly because I learned it relatively early; just a couple months after beginning to drum, and didn't fully understand the theory behind time signatures yet.

Just amazing: -Most drummer skip that ghosts notes at 1:38, you don't, great job! -Dynamic was awesome! most drummers play the song with a kind of robotic dynamic, the dynamic plays an important roll in a good song, not only play all the exact notes. -Hey man, these improvisations, wow, OP. -I like how you play the song, fallowing your own rules and not trying to imitate Portnoy. Again, amazing video! Like and Subscribe.

I usually don't comment any videos but this song is fascinating me for a long time because it's very complex in many different ways and your cover is just amazing! You've become kind of a role model for me especially when it comes to power and joy while playing. I have two questions: How long did it take you to learn this song and which was the most difficult part? Greets from Germany and sorry for kind of kissing your ass :D
@joshsteffen9 жыл бұрын
3:50 to 4:20 is the hardest part for me. I learned this song a long time ago. It probably took a week or two to memorize. However, I never used to play the first groove correct until this time, and still approach things differently in a few spots.
