I'm the same! I anthropomorphise everything, and then worry about hurting its feelings. To be fair we're practically trained to do it as kids, when every children's book is about a sad book that no one gets out of the library, or a sad apple that's the last one left on the tree, etc. We just never grew out of it I guess!

No you’re not silly for keeping stuff. I do it too. In fact this year my 95 year old grandfather passed and cleaning his house out was so hard… I came home with so much stuff and I use it in my studio now.

I'm also attached to things and I started to just draw them in my sketchbook before I throw them out if I haven't used or looked at them in a long time. So I still have the memory but not the ballast x3

Hi Ashley I am exactly like you I get attached to things and knick nacs I have a few too. I moved a couple of years ago up the coast and up until now been unpacking boxes lol So I totally get that. But I did get rid of quite a few things before coming up here to the North Coast furniture etc as it wouldnt fit in the truck we hired for moving. I do enjoy the Thrift stores here in Australia we call them Op shops which is short for Opportunity shops. I like the name too. Your little art room looks fantastic. Thanks for sharing

Yes I’m like you. It’s very difficult. But I’m 62 and I have so many art supplies it’s ridiculous! Btw that desk in the little nook is perfect. Wow, that was just a perfect fit. It is a bummer losing those beautiful windows, but it is nice that you can paint in your living room. I wonder with oil painting, don’t you have the smell of solvent throughout your home? I have only used water mixable oils but even then there’s smell. I have a sensitive nose though and get migraines.

I'm glad I'm not alone lol! I try to use ordorless solvents to minimize the smell. I also only use the solvent in the beginning for early washes, otherwise I use oil to clan the brushes. I can crack these windows open too, so that helps! I know water mixable oils are definitely safer, so I may have to try them out one day.
