I was in the hospital this July, diagnosed with fatty liver. I took it serious, dropped 20- lbs. by giving up high carbs, minimal fat and no alcohol. Last week, 5 months later, my blood test say I have no more fatty liver. I am 77, so never give up.

If you compare their body and how much they are moving, and yours and how much you move, you need much more strength. It is your choice to be vegan, and we don’t have problem with that, especially if you’re vegan because of ethnic, but don’t do that because of your health. If you’re vegan, you have to add a bunch of stuff with food supplements. And that is a fact. Remember...the golden middle is the best in everything, and always! The fanaticism is never good. Grant, You might also consider a high quality ORGANIC olive oil. (To make sure it has not been contaminated by the manufacturer with low grade, unhealthy inflammatory causing seed oils, place it in the refrigerator for the first few days. If it solidifies, it is pure olive oil. If it remains in a liquid form, return it to your store. Once the olive oil passes your experiment, be sure to keep it at room temp.) If you prefer, you don't have to sprinkle it on your food. Take it by the tablespoon at least twice a day. So many healthy benefits, and it will also help keep you regular.

When I went to see my doctor and told him that I suspected that I had insulin resistance and fatty liver, I heard: are you an alcoholic? I can remember listening to my parents and grandparents talking about the healings that could come from drinking and bathing in sulphur water. Being in TN, there are a lot of sulphur springs and many had well water that contained sulphur. Before all the medications and medical treatments, sick people were often sent to places in the country for the exposure to the fresh air and the sulphur and mineral springs. There were even hotels built in these areas for people to come to for health benefits. My mother was born in 1934. She was a sickly child. Her doctor told my grandmother to send her to her uncles farm to stay for a while. They had sulphur well water. So she spent several months living on the farm with her grandparents and uncle. She quickly got better and completely healed from all her symptoms. Including being prone to getting pneumonia. Which back then, could be very hard to survive. Especially for children.

I understood I had liver problems when I realized my bile ducts were blocked (jaundice and chalk colored stools were a big hint, pain was minimal but persistent). Both of them. I read, I learned, I kept learning and finally decided to "cleanse" my liver, change my diet and do all that I could to resolve this issue of fatty liver disease. It took a full year before I began to get the hang of it and in that time I did a lot of "cleanses" and passed a lot of congealed bile but no stones. Enough bile to fill a 2 gallon bucket (a lifetime of poor diet habits). Only after I stopped passing bile was I able to pass stones. Someone described the liver as "the other brain." I decided that I wanted to hang on to my gallbladder. That wakeup call started a learning, doing and healing process that I'm still in today. Keto is the next part of the journey and I'll be paying attention to my liver as well.

Dr. Ekberg's presentation and explanation is superb, and I've already felt a difference in my body. Knowing the how and the why is much more motivating than just being told what to do. Can you let me know if you've done any videos or segments in others that explain Carbohydrates on nutritional labels please? I live in the UK so when Carbohydrates are presented on food labels it will give the number of carbs in grams ie 45.5g then it will say 'of which sugars' 3.8g. Does that mean sugar that has been added?
@mayastic9570

no sugars means glucose and fructose, the ones that give high dopamine response and they are a type off carbohydrate. It doesn't mean they are added but they can be ofcourse. Also pls don't follow all the advice this guy gives he's not a doctor and you should consult an actual proffesional if you have a problem. I haven't paid any attention to the liver, and I also am aware of what that meant for my doctor not really giving me the breakdown on why I'm still here in this place. Dear Dr Ekberg, I found your channel by accident. I knew previously what keto diet was but I was a bit apprehensive to start it. When I weighed myself at the end of July, I scared myself from the number. It was 126kg - more than 250lbs. I said to myself enough is enough. I started exercising more (cycling and running) eating healthier (more fat,proteins and low carb vegetables), and overtime I reduced the carbs so much that I didn't feel the urge to eat bread, sweets, pasta etc. Until today I managed to shed almost 16kg (35lbs). After I found your channel I found out that I was doing all the right stuff. I'm feeling so much better. Cholesterol level dropped, blood pressure dropped. I can now run more than 5km and cycle more than 50km without problem. Thank you for your amazing content and clear explanation. @@frankmuller596 Carbs cause the pancreas to dispense insulin. Insulin causes the body to store fat. Stored fat causes insulin resistance which, in turn, makes the body NEED more insulin to convert carbs to glucose (which is where you get energy). Fatty liver is caused by hyperinsulinemia. Low Carb Diet burns fat through ketogenesis. The body & brain utilizes ketone bodies for energy. Ketogenesis actually builds muscle, too. It's miraculous to the body for almost every disease process.

After the first two years of book learning mainly, he and his classmates were tested ( Step one), a major test for all of them. He prepared well according to what he learned, but he was shocked by how much they were tested about drugs instead of knowledge on diseases. Some investigation, they found that drug companies have a huge LEG in testing medical school students. Making them pill pushers, starting early. Thank God most of them are thinking human beings.

Just an interesting observation from what you said, that the liver regenerates every 6 weeks. We Catholics have had the tradition of fasting for one meal a day (the old rite) during Lent which lasts 46 days or 6 weeks (minus 6 Sundays) - Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Giving the liver a rest for 6 weeks may be God's natural plan for not only spiritual health, but also for physical health. Unfortunately, the Pope and Church leadership made many changes and did away with the more rigorous fasting tradition back in the 1960s, resulting in the current crisis in the Church.

Is it silly to say the quality of my life has improved since I discovered Dr. Eckberg’s videos? My family trusts me and follows my nutritional advice pretty closely, so that would mean we’re all Dr. Eckberg fans, even if they’re unaware.

Dr. Ekberg, Love your pace. Thank you for all you do to educate us. Questions: 1) Will beets or wheat germ throw us out of ketosis? 2) Can we use nutritional yeast in cooking, such as stews and sauces without losing its nutritional value, or should it just be added at the end of cooking? What are optimal ways of having nutritional yeast to get the most nutrition out of it? Ditto for wheat germ. 3) Can one add nutritional yest or wheat germ to water or tea between meals without interrupting intermittent fasting? 4) How much nutritional yeast and wheat germ should we have daily?

Good job at debunking the debunker, doc. Even if you are not a medical doctor, your concise presentation is less nebulous than what a lot of professional doctors try in patronizing their patient with their self importance. Liked the way you clear up the 'contispation' with logic and factually correlating information.

As a child, the issue that drove me to a plant-based diet was not running away from fat, but rather it was too expensive to eat properly. Growing up, I got a tiny piece of meat with a ton of potatoes and bread for supper, and so, I had weight issues all my life. Due to my activity level, I managed to keep my weight close to normal. They called me big-boned. However, I was constantly exhausted and hungry. Now I'm starting to understand why. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg, for all your very informative videos.

My short sightedness has completely reversed on keto and IF and I do mean completely. In Australia the leading cause of blindness in adults is T2 diabetes. So it is no surprise that controlling insulin and reversing insulin resistance and diabetes improves eyesight among many many other metabolic diseases.

I was doing keto and went out to eat and had a hamburger but then ate a whole order of onion rings. I came home and my stomach started spewing acid, heartburn. I had to take 3 T acv to get the heartburn to stop. I ate sugar and carbs for the rest of day. Was sore and couldn't sleep. I'm not repeating that day. I'm back on track

@@ckn9503 this is the problem with keto . Your brain runs on glucose and it will demand glucose and you will always repeat this vicious circle . This is why keto does not work . You need the glucose from fruit and you need the starchy vegetables to provide the antioxidants and glucose for your brain. Demonizing fruit is so unfair as it keeps us healthy.
