Others in the group are also tuning into my nutritional comments, much of which comes from Dr. Berg videos. I am going to turn them onto this video. Because many of the Recovery Cafe members are addicts with digestive problems due to drug abuse, this video and others will help educate them. Dr. Berg. I am a full time dialysis patient, and there is something you said here that raised my eyebrows. The thing is, that the reason that my kidneys no longer work, is due to a kidney injury sustained from a reaction to the dye used in a contrast MRI. I had one before, when I suffered an ischemic stroke, and sometime after that, during the follow up appointments, I was told that I had a reduction of kidney function. I made no connection. However, about 6 years later, I went to the ER with chest pain, which turned out to be an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, and was Instantly admitted for surgery to repair it with a stent. From my understanding of what I was told by the doctors, the contrast MRI was necessary in order to map out the stent and repair procedure, so I am not complaining. The alternative was the aneurysm rupturing, which, again, to my understanding would have been game over for me. However, due to the resulting kidney injury, I have required 4 hrs of dialysis, 3 days a week. I understand that not everyone has this kind of reaction, or so I am told, but the problem is, that the only way you know that you are going to have this kind of reaction, is when you do. It seems to me that this is also very good reason why not to recommend an MRI, especially a contrast MRI, and especially not to people who already have diminished kidney function.
@YelenaVlogs10 ай бұрын
Are you sure it was an MRI dye and not an iodinated contrast which is known to damage kidneys. And it damaged mine 😢
@YelenaVlogs10 ай бұрын
@@douglaspage2398I am truly sorry you had to go through that 😢 I was absolutely healthy 38 year old, and got CT needlessly. I just had a minor injury from my toddler jumping on my belly and I am very thin it probably stretched some muscles. I had some discomfort for a few weeks and decided to go to ER (the stupidest decision of my life). I actually begged them for an MRI but they said only CT is done at ER. Then they talked me into getting that damn dye. Since I was 11 I never used any meds even pain killers for anything, was healthy and even had given birth at home! This changed me: I have salivary gland damage, dry eyes, kidney problems: eGFR seems to be still above 90 but my kidneys stopped conserving water so I began to urinate very dilute urine one week after the dye, basically developed tubule problem with bad reabsorption of water and other things. My oil glands for eyes and skin got damaged. I started to bleed heavily on the second day after the injection- and developed hypovolemia and low bp (had vertigo upon standing) but still didn’t go to the hospital I think that also affected kidneys. The thing was that I drank water but it was not reabsorbed. I couldn’t sleep for 2 months without pills which I never took before…It’s been 7 months now, I don’t think I can ever fully recover from this scope of damage. I used to love life, was happy, healthy, affluent- now I just feel miserable every single day 😢
@YelenaVlogs10 ай бұрын
@@douglaspage2398Oh forgot to say, the dye caused me visual problems. Developed crazy amount of eye floaters one week after injection and visual acuity decreased in the right eye (used to have above 20/20 vision and never knew what dry eyes are).

There are a few kinds of contrast dye. I am allergic to one. If you are theu can tell in the first minute by your reaction & stop the IV. If the dye is essential they have a different one. I know because it happened to me.

I'm allergic to shellfish which is derivative used in dyes, and during a procedure to balloon stints wider in my forearm, I had a really bad experience when that dye entered my arm then my hand...it burned soo bad I neatly jumped off the table...now I'm wondering if that was a allergic reaction 🤔 The Dr knew of my allergies.

If it’s iron deficiency anemia - I’ve started including a bit of fresh oranges, when eating beef (it’s the best meat for anemia). You could do a 1/2 cup of orange juice, also (I do fresh oranges, to get the pulp/fiber). The Vit. C helps iron absorb more effectively - up to four times better. If you are anemic from B12 deficiency - HCI with betaine/hydrochloric acid with betaine. This will help the body absorb the B12 more effectively, also. Also, if it’s B12 - you could get methylcobalmine B12 liquid supplements; as it’s more absorbed into the body, easier, also. I know a B9 deficiency can contribute, also - though, I have yet to learn much about that, yet. Oh, also.. I’ve been taking dandelion root extract, in an empty stomach - it helps clear the liver of biproducts, especially, estrogenic. Best wishes.

Thanks for the video. The problem is that I cant get even half the good ingredients, and if I can, they are hellish expensive. I was told to stay off meat or fish because of the creatin. So at the end of the day I am somewhat depressed with what I can and cant eat

Incredible breakdown, Dr. Berg! It's reassuring to know that there are safe, nutrient-rich foods that can help manage kidney health, even for those with chronic kidney disease. I’ll be sharing this with my family, especially the part about cutting out refined and high-phosphorus foods. Keep the amazing content coming!

Spiriluna has a lot of iron too, so be care full. I think as long as you don't eat refined food you are fine. and also the amount is important, don't forget to listen to your senses if you eat something, God gave you senses so use them, don't just copy others, we are not clones, your body might differ.

Spirulina absorbs heavy metals hence the Dr's suggestion.

My 72-year-old dad literally has a doctor's appointment in an hour and five minutes. They're giving him an ultrasound to look at his kidneys. Last week his doctor told him his kidneys and bladder are becoming low-functioning and that he's pre-diabetic. No one's surprised by this except him. I know this will be an uphill battle for my sister and I, but thank you Dr. Berg for producing this very timely video. I'll just be a happy if we can get him to cut his McDonald's intake to once per week, to stop putting salt on bacon, and to limit each cup of coffee to four sugars instead of eight. 😳

Putting salt on bacon 🤣. My man loves his salt. I hope his tests come out ok and he lives many more happy healthy years.

@@ReapingTheHarvest Hahaha! He puts salt on fast-food french fries, too. You know, the ones that are already heavily salted! Thank you for your kind words, brother. 🙂🙏

Make his coffee a lil weaker & he will use less sugar. Get him a flavored creamer without sugar added. A shake of cinnamon. Stevia to sweeten.

Dr. Berg, I'm a 67-year-old male, 163 lbs. with type 2. My recent A1C was 7.1. It's been going down. My doctor always says my kidneys are GREAT ! However, I looked at my lab work and noticed my eGFR is 78.8. Should I be concerned?

Ok so now I am confused. Didn't your one video say if you have kidney problems you should avoid AVOS. Because it's high in potassium. Please, please tell me if my father can eat avocado's with kidney damage .THANK YOU. I believe you are the most cleverest doctor out there and wish you could start a supplement range in my country. The world needs more people like you😊
