HI David, A few questions. What kind of resin do you use for the matrix stones? Will they warp as I use them? Been using them for a while and really like the grits. I heard that they changed the 300 to the 250 or something like that. Finally are the stones cut and glued to the blanks or are they directly poured on the blanks. I have one that looks like it wants to pop off. Maybe I can put a little glue (3M-77) A Lot of people are watching the videos and asking great questions...

They won't warp, the resin is very stable. Yes, the 300 was only made for the first batch then it was decided to replace it with the 250. There is very little difference, which one you want to use depends on the steel you are sharpening. The stones are molded with the aluminum backers in one operation. I have only seen one Matrix stone that delaminated and the resin stone had shrunk so that makes me think a solvent was involved. Don't use anything but rubbing alcohol or water on them, the resin is not stable with all solvents. What do you mean it looks like it wants to pop off? Is it delaminating? Have you been cleaning them with something other than rubbing alcohol or water? I have been making these resin stones for over 15 years and have never had one delaminate and they are used in much more severe conditions than the Matrix stones on guided sharpeners. I have done several tests with heat cycling and shock to try to pop the resin and aluminum apart but have never had it happen.

Hello, Kindly clarify about the board you are using. Can't hear well its description.

I think that one is just a slab of granite I had laying around. I used to make custom stone and ceramic switchplates so I have lots of leftover material to use for dressing plates. What matters for dressing plates is that they are flat, wear resistant, and preferably not polished. You want the abrasive to roll around between the stone and plate and it tends to slide on the polished surface. After dressing a few stones any polished surface will be roughened up enough so the abrasives will roll nicely.

Do the new stones need to be lapped or just after they start to load up?

you use to much of aluminum oxide

I have to disagree with you on that. Here I am using just enough, far from too much. Plus this is a very fine friable alox so it doesn't last very long. The 55-micron brown alox that EP sells lasts much longer.
