The myth that he was short stems primarily from the fact that he is listed as 5 feet 2 inches tall at the time of his death. However, this is 5 feet 2 inches in French units. In modern international units, he was just shy of 5 feet 7 inches

Japan is STILL just logistics support and Okinawa is a traffic-locked shithole after 70 years. After 70 years of US-spread "democracy", voting on military bases would still make Japan an Afghan-tier pariah because that's how trash this US ideology can be proven to be. NOBODY "democaritc" actually gets democratized, only subjugated. Afghanistan is still behind an embargo while they illegalized 80% of opium production in the world, making Afghan farmers suffer from poverty and USA drug buyers move to fentanyl. Oops. Vote better next cycle, because Japan won't, they just have a funeral for Shinzo Abe.

Actually, in the picture with Gorbachev that wasn't the German prime minister because Germany doesn't have a prime minister but a chancellor. @@thebigmightybattleship Strauß was kind of the Trump of German politics of that time. He was known for talking very provocatively. Really paints a picture of perspective. So much knowledge is passed on with severe bias, intentional or not. I mean, I’m Dutch so naturally a lot of the history books at school covered Dutch/European/Western history. Basically, if it had an influence on the modern day Netherlands, it was included (but a lot of things weren’t included and were glossed over). Perhaps it is shame, negligence, or apathy, but there’s really not too much about former Dutch colonies in the standard ‘middelbare school’ history curriculum (for havo and vwo at least). It is a very noteworthy part of the country’s history but I still feel like there’s a sense of reluctance. Perhaps some atrocities are still too fresh. And… on the other hand. There are a lot of people seeking to remove statues of national ‘heroes’ (let’s change that to ‘legends’); people who undeniably contributed to the Netherlands’ modern day wealth, but through exploitation or massacre of others. I’d say such statues mustn’t be removed from public spaces. Show both sides of the same coin. Both the (monetary) contribution and the atrocities committed. A black and white perspective will only result in incomplete and inaccurate worldviews.

1:47 two of them helped only because they hated Czechoslovakia more than Soviet union, but actually they hated both. Only Bulgaria helped because they loved soviet union. and romania hated soviet union so much, that they even dared refusing help

Romania was kind of the weird kid. Basically the dictator there modeled his government after North Korea who is also not very well liked. Albania have the opposite problem. The reason why Albania was isolated because they did not want to diverge from Marxist Leninism, while most of the eastern block took more moderates stance after the disaster pock face midget Stalin created

I didn't know about 1812 until after I got out of school, US revolution was mentioned very briefly. I did do a module on Roosevelts new deal & Prohibition in 1920-1930 period though so american history wasn't ignored.

We had a huge section of gistory on the war of 1812? I learned almost nothing from school about it. It was always revolution, after revolution (1780-1800), civil war, post civil war, rebuilding, ww1, ww2, the cold war as one giant thing, and if even touched upon the 90s. I learned most of my history on my own and not from school cause they really didn't ever go into very good detail

1812 had next to nothing to do with the Brits though. It was an American invasion into Canada. The only technicality was at the time, Canadians were British citizens.
