I love the first map because usually when people redesign the us, especically non-americans, they don't take into consideration the history of a state or the people living there, they just see michigan being in two parts and don't like it so they give the upper peniusla to Wisconsin so it looks better aesthetically, but this map actually is based on historical boundaries and territorial claims, which makes it a lot more feasible.
