If you want some real Wilson prog - 'Remainder the black dog' from him is classic chaotic beautiful prog. But honestly, any song of his is class.

Grace for Drowning is imo his best solo album. but he's getting more and more leaned to the mainstream with every album he releases. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own. I'm a Porcupine Tree fan for 20 years now and always loved what he did (ok, only like a few songs from Blackfield). His new solo album will be quite a surprise to us I think.

@@Tintop Grace is great, but Raven for me is my fav. I love even his more mainstream stuff, because it still feels different. Love bone and personal shopper is in itself a fun listen.

If you can, watch the entire SW Royal Albert Hall concert. Simply amazing seeing and hearing it in super high quality. Plus, you get a really good sample across projects and albums.

Steven Wilson - Routine (animated music video), Ancestral, Luminol, Ancestral, Drive Home (animated music video), pariah (live albert royal hall), home invasion... There are sooo many good songs to start with. I think its funny that you walk down the same path into wilson and purcupine tree that i did, by listening to and falling in love with Anesthetize. I have to say i love wilsons solo work even more than PT. I also discovered opeth by diving into wilsons work. Opeth and wilson are now my favourite artists. You are in for a treat boi!

The amount of good Porcupine Tree material is immense. I could write a gigantic list here. So I will instead suggest you check Steven Wilson's solo project after Porcupine Tree broke up. Specially anything from "The Raven that Refused to Sing" album. Every track in that album is amazing.

If you want to go back to some classic prog: King Crimson - Frame By Frame. They were a huge influence on Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and Tool (who actually toured with King Crimson). Also Yes - Awaken would be an epic old school prog react.

Keep the PT reactions coming man, I love that you like them so much. Top tracks you should react to: Time Flies, Blackest Eyes, The Sound Of Muzak, Sleep Forever... Top SW tracks: Luminol, Harmony Korine, Home Invasion/ Regret #9, Routine, Detonation.

You got it right Drew. Simply put without any discussion needed... it is a masterpiece about Death, a subject Steven Wilson explores often .

I think he is definitely talking about an unexpected death. There is a larger narrative here though, one which we never got to know in full. “Deadwing” is an album accompanied by a screenplay of the same name. To my knowledge, the script never saw production. I really recommend listening to the album on your own straight through and this becomes apparent. It’s great fun to tease out bits of the story.
