You're absolutely spot on about the Led Zeppelin elements - specifically in the mellow end parts of this track - there is a very similar keyboard sound to Zeppelin's No Quarter. It's an electric piano (Fender Rhodes, or similar) through a rotating Leslie speaker (or an effect emulating a Leslie), which is exactly what was used on No Quarter.

I also hear the similarities and influence to tracks like no quarter, ten years gone and in the light, zeppelin definitely had a psychedelic aspect however its often overshadowed by the hard blues rock tracks and epic folk ballads. You should really check out to pink floyd tho, i think youll notice the influence is even heavier! Dogs, echoes, breathe, time and comfortably numb are some great starter tracks to get you started. Great videos man, keep up the good work!💪🏽

@@wiggy009 I think its more to do with loss of direction of society as a whole. Rather than commodification and the so called 'wage slave culture', i think its to do with the loss of a common moral framework, which in the pass has been provided by religion. We lack a common meaning, a common purpose to bind society together hence we see the rise of nihilism. Dont get me wrong, I don't believe in any religion, but you must accept that in the past it has bound certain parts of society together and without an overarching moral framework construct its hard to create a stable long lasting society

Loved your little reaction to the phrase "I'm through with pornography" Such a guy thing to say, lmao! I'm with ya!!!😂😂😂😂🤘🤘🤘🤘 Edit: it's not fair when people "tell" you what you hear in music. They must not understand the point of music itself. It's a chance for the artist to let everyone feel as they feel. The beauty of music is everyone can interpret it differently but still be moved by it. You're right Drew. There is no "wrong" answer. Just as in my heart I truly feel there is no such thing as "bad" music. It just depends on what everyone's preferences are. To each there own. If It moves you, that's all that matters. But since your listening to Porcupine Tree at the moment, may I suggest "Open Car" and "Shallow". If you haven't done them already, of course.

Hi Drew, your comments regarding certain elements sounding like Led Zepplin in my opinion is correct, I am old enough to of been listening to Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd since 1970 and I can clearly hear elements of both Led Zepplin and Pink floyd throughout many of Porcupine Tree's tracks. I have always liked this style of music and I think thats why I appreciate Porcupine Trees music so much, because to me it feels warm and familiar but there is plenty of variation in there to also make it fresh, exciting and new.

I know all these songs like the back of my hand. I know on forehand when you are going to smile. Gavin makes you smile a lot. Do try Dark Matter from Signify and Regret #9 from Hand Cannot Erase, either with or without home invasion. Hand Cannot Erase is a total masterpiece. It just doesn’t compare.

People forget that Zeppelin has some pretty progish songs. This definitely has a “No Quarter” feel in places, especially when you paused it.

If you're getting into the epic length songs, check out Milliontown by Frost* It's not as heavy as some of the stuff you've been watching, but their "Neo-Prog" style is truly wonderful. Especially in songs like Milliontown.

For the out of body experience, try the early PT and tracks like Mute, No reason to live No reason to die, Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape. Haven't seen those mentioned yet, would really love to see reaction to one of those.

Regarding your Zeppelin comment @Drew Fortune - there's a riff about 3/4 of the way through the song 'Prodigal' that has always reminded me of Zep. Be interesting to see if you think the same...and also the strings at the end of 'Sleep Together' which as I've mentioned before is another great track

Steven Wilson - Ancestral -Also the lyrics of the song make allot more sense once you understand the concept idea of the album and the inspirations behind it.
