Blue Reverie and Pale Iris are great songs imo. Cure and this one are super weird to me but I need to listen to them in the context of the full album to properly judge them.

I think Erra is going for the "sit back and relax, get into the mood" vibes which cannot be recreated as a content creator, being always "hyped" and for the camera, that's probably why you may dislike the songs. I see this trend nowadays that songs have to stimulate "the tiktok brain" (which is a thing). When you get before the camera you expect to be hyped, dopamine charged by the song but not every song/band does that. People always focus on flashy things (same with football - attackers get most credit always). That being said for me Erra goes for a good thing and it's not at all the same as before - if it was the same, people would react the same but the reaction is different.

Very pleased with the singles tbh as a huge fan for many years now. Blue Reverie is probably my favourite this far

I really appreciate you giving your genuine thoughts! I hate people who fear speaking their thoughts in fear of backlash, everyone has their own tastes and opinions. I've so far really enjoyed all the singles, but they have taken a very different approach than what was on their self title! Its a different direction, and not everyone will love it, and thats okay. It makes me appreciate your content even more knowing I'm not hearing some yes man thumbs up every song just to appease others. Thanks for your honest thoughts on these tracks!

It’s definitely different but I love it. Beauty of music is that it’s subjective, that’s why I’m still in love with metalcore and metal in general

This and Pale Iris are my favorite singles. Although i have only listened to Cure and Blue Reverie a couple times so that could change. I know this album is going to bang, ERRA will save the real bangers for the album drop.

The vocal melody towards the end really caught my ears when I first heard it. The dark tone of it is something I need more of from them

It's a very unique ERRA track for sure. JT I think said the non singles are more traditional ERRA songs. He thinks a lot of people will like the non singles more.

The bendy lead riff on this one is my new favourite from them. Just so eargasmic....i think its like slower-bouncier and more bendy Scorpion hymn. I hope its not the only heavy song on this album. Really really digging their new heavy sound

Hey Drew, imo with the self titled album they set the bar so high that it's hard to really enjoy these singles. Just like you said, the singles have been extremely safe compared to the insane riffs in the previous album. Still hoping that they can turn this around with the new album
@VRTX_-sc7dx7 ай бұрын
Totally agree dude. Self titled was probably their best work (of course Augment is up there as well. I discovered the band with Snowblood and maybe that's why I can't get my head around this new style/sound. But it'll grow on me for sure, just as the first 3 singles have done.

I like all the singles a lot, with Cure and Blue Reverie being my favorites. But it fucking ACHES that I just can't seem to get to love them. They're missing something, I agree. Idk man, it's just sad that my expectations are ruining my experience so far with my favorite band since I really have a lot of love for this band and the previous records.
@octaviogallo85137 ай бұрын
I've been following them since their first work, in terms of production I think this is their best work, but if there's something I've always liked Erra for, it's her density, which I don't see in her latest singles, it's like they've softened. But aren't changes also part of growth? They are still the best band of their genre.
@VRTX_-sc7dx7 ай бұрын
@octaviogallo85137 ай бұрын
@VRTX_-sc7dx7 ай бұрын

Drew , I am also a reaction channel and know exactly what you mean with the whole copyright type stuff. But with that being said , this single was prob my fave of the 4. I do agree with you though , overall I think the 4 singles are rather lackluster and underwhelming. I loved their last album a ton and most of these singles just don't do it for me. But I do enjoy the band and hope the songs on the rest of the album , kick ass like their self titled did.

Mr. Drew- Long time watcher here. Have you gotten the chance to hear Karnivool Change - Live from Heath Ledger Theatre Perth My friend, I have watched your Patreon reaction to the album. believe this live performance will be right up your alley. It's a recording from their live steam concert during the Covid Quarantine a few years back. It's got a different vibe than the album version, but it encapsulates the emotion of the song perfectly. The buildup you love is so rewarding. Would you please record your reaction to it?

This one feels like it’s trying to go somewhere but it takes a detour without a payoff. No hate on Erra, the three other singles top this for me. Guitar tone still sounds as good as ever and JT kills it as usual.

I’m honestly so sad because none of these singles have done it for me. They aren’t bad by any means but nothing in them have wowed me. Most Erra songs have a high point or parts that stand out but these just seem pretty straightforward. I just know how much potential they have so it’s too bad. Glad that other people are digging it though! Their last album just set the bar so high

Erra is also very hit and miss for me and I have trouble putting my finger on exactly why... I think part of it might be that the tone/pitch of scream vocals generally dont vary much and sound a bit generic which makes the songs a bit more forgettable and flat to me unfortunately. Undoubtedly a talented singer but would like to hear more variety I guess. Still keen to see what the new album is like though, loved a lot of the self titled

I think I can feel the frustration from Drew on some of his most recent videos. I think you may need a change of pace in genre of music you react to. You need other audience, other than the metal audience. Breakdowns get really boring over time. Maybe start reacting to some more prominent stuff, like pop, indie rock, hardcore, etc. I think that’s why I have moved away from metalcore so much because it’s so formulaic.
