Dr Gundry… I love your podcasts…so informative, I learn so much from you! I wish you could do a podcast on ITP, it is so hard to find nutrition information on this disorder. The Hematologist I went to 12 years ago just said “ oh you probably have some type of autoimmune disorder and sent me on my way” no help, no recommendations, nothing. I’m always trying to find some type of nutritional help. My platelets are usually in a range of 100-125 , so not too bad. But would love to see your take on it!❤

Do we need to bin the cooking water from a pressure cooker because it contains lectins from the food? Or is it safe to use because the lectins in it are “dead”?

2:40 Dang, those macadamia nuts have a _lot_ of calories. Back in the '90s, a woman who freelanced for the company lived in Hawaii, and she'd come to the office once a year or so, and she'd always bring boxes of chocolate-dipped macadamia nuts. I was young, and could take the calories, but my remembering is that that those were WONDERFUL.

I started eating these about 2 months ago. I eat about 8 of them every day at lunch time. Not sure if that's enough for the health benefits.....hope so. I just worry about eating too many due to the high fat content (like every nut has).

Who says the fats in macadamia nuts are the kind that will lead to weight gain as with visceral fats? As far as I know, they do not belong to the category of fats that are produced primarily from fructose and are stored in the liver and visceral fatty deposits.

Dr. Gundry, I often snack on seeds and nuts while driving to stay awake. What are your thoughts on sunflower, seeds, pumpkin seeds, almonds, and pistachios?
@hugoapresname Жыл бұрын
As far as I know you should avoid sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Please don’t overdo nuts. I got kidney stones from eating too much nuts regularly because I thought they contain a lot of healthy fats. One handful a day. It’s not natural to be able to munch on so high amounts that we can buy today (in XXL packs 😅)! It can‘t hurt to read or listen to (I love Audible) to his book about lectins, called ‚plant paradox‘. I highly recommend it, because you should stop irritating your gut. Then learn how to feed the microbes there correctly and then how to feed and grow mitochondria.

No pumpkin, sunflower, cashew or Chia seeds. Yes to whole ground flax, hemp seeds. No more than 3 Brazil nuts a day. , Macadamia, pistachios and pinenuts are OK.

I don’t understand… so they stop you from putting on weight… but that’s only if you eat approximately 2 cups (a huge amount). But then 10 nuts results to 200+ Kcals? In other words lots of (healthy) fats and calorific. Seems counter productive. 2 cups would probably be around 50 nuts… 1000Kcals? The math isn’t mathing. Surely I’m not the only one puzzled. I’m sure like most whole foods, nuts especially, are very healthy but for weight loss these stats seem like a double edged sword. How can you use these nuts effectively?
