Good first try BC. All great tools started with first tries. As Boss Kettering (the inventor of the electric starter) once said "The problem will always tell you the solution" You are 99% there don't give up.

Is that the same Kettering of coil ignition fame? This week I may swing the machines around for better filming.

@@inmyshedwithbc. Yes sir.He is considered the father of engineering within GM. They actually still had what was called the "Boss Kettering Award" for great inventions. An engineer at our plant won the money one year for what is called "The Inset Target" Saved us millions in the cost of Platinum.

Hi Mark. That would get rid of chatter but I would be grinding off the edge and cause a burr. Also would have to dissmount the form relief grinder.

I have only hand ground drills and just getting a tool grinder set up, so watching with a lot of interest, but my thought is increased web angle is caused by to much clearance angle? is this something to do with the tip in relation to the axis of the pivot?

Hi Mr. Expert. With using my Brierley drill grinder I found setup is critical. The wide web can be too much clearance, Brierley has an adjuster ring for that. Or rong timing causing the drill to be ground late. Still scratching the bald spot on my head.

Hi BC, to me it does not sound right, was the wheel dull or what do you think was the problem?

Hello Mark. I think it's part of 46 grit wheel, leading into the work not lagging and a bit of slop in the pivot. The pivot rod will be locked in the support with grub screws to force it to pivot in the 2 arms. When you grind by hand the fingers absorbe all vibration.
