Euro 96, me, my dad, bro and sis drove up to Anfield from Bedfordshire to watch Italy v Russia. We got near the stadium and pulled over to ask a lady where we could park, she said she lived just round the corner and we could park outside her house. When we pulled up outside her house she asked us in for a cup of tea. So we went in and had a cup of tea, complete strangers! Will never forget that.

Last time I went to Anfield was when Grimsby won there in 2001. I remember a pub right near the ground called The Arkles. Had a couple in there before the game and the locals were spot on. I remember the coaches being parked down a side street about a 5 minute walk from the ground and being a bit worried about walking there late at night but again the scousers were sound as hell. Top people.

Always go in the church before Everton play it’s a cracking pub. Road itself ain’t great but the boozers are decent. Recommend going around the Everton pubs if you come again some great ones around the ground. The abbey is a favourite of mine check it out.
