There is something that needs to be added here. Regardless of what grade ss is used, if the holding liquid contains high amounts of chemical constituents, rusting will appear. There is a mention of galvanic corrosion here but that is only one part of the problem. If you invest in a ss tank, Make sure that the water entering the tank is prefiltered after testing the water in a lab. Two, if you plan to use a cleaning agent for maintenance, make sure it is recommended for stainless steel.

Such tanks are good for industrial area or food industries were we use arrow water water. But for average house purpose we cannot tell steel will not rust any steel which will be always in contact with ordinary water will start denting and rusting with small pores due to presence of salts like calcium, phosphate and chlorides in raw water from wells.

But a leading brand from Kerala told me that they wont sell their SS 304 water tank to me if we are going to fill it with borewell/tubewell and mix of well water. They are supplying it only for well water usage. The warranty will not be applicable. Hence the confusion. If Hydropure is assuring that SS can be used, I will go for it. Do they supply direct to Thrissur or through dealer?
