Greek car magazine DRIVE pays a visit to Istanbul Park F1 Circuit, home of the Turkish Grand Prix and one of the best contemporary Formula 1 tracks. Constructed by Hermann Tilke, it follows the dips and crests of the land having many uphill and downhill sections as a result. Some of its corners resemble famous turns from other racing ciruits, while "Turn 8" is one of the trickiest corners that an F1 driver has to deal with.
The cars chosen for the job are two of the hottest affordable cars on sale today, the Toyota GT86 and the Opel Astra OPC. RWD meets FWD, with the japanese coupe hoping its extraordinary chassis balance will be a match for the raw power of one of the fastest modern hot hatches.
But is this the case on Istanbul Park's tricky layout?
The Toyota GT86 is also sold as Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S around the globe and the Opel Astra OPC as Vauxhall Astra VXR in the UK.
